From the moment one walks through the door, it's like stepping back in time. The friendly environment, the meat display and products are appetizing and impressive. As Sabastian obviously has a very high standard, it's not surprising customers travel a distance to shop at the West Vancouver or Howe Street shops. Not only is the meat high quality, but there is a freezer full of products worth checking out. Once you shop at Sebastian's, you likely will never again shop for meat in a supermarket. Great cuts. * warabi mochi ($6.50) --- not sure how they transport these or if they were ever frozen, but it honestly didn't matter. The texture was soft and chewy, nearly on par with the fresh warabi mochi I've had in Japan. If you're a warabi mochi fan, I'd definitely recommend picking one up. * hamachi collar $9.50 --- Pleasantly surprised to find such a decent meaty portion for under $10. The marbling looked incredible when we first saw it. Felt like a mythic find, although I'm not one who goes out of my way to find fish collars. We baked and broiled it for a delicious dinner :) For some quality fish in those boxes, I'd pay the slight premium for Aburi market's sushi/sashimi options over the average grocery store any day.

I asked for a small container of Greek Lentil Salad. The guy packed it into the small container I asked for. Then I pointed at the Teriyaki Salmon and asked for one piece of it. The man then told me that if I put the Greek Lentil Salad into the same box as the Teriyaki Salmon, it would count as a combo meal which would be $10. So basically, he was trying to tell us that it would be a better deal for us if we packaged it that way. So we took him up on the suggestion. He opened up the small container of Greek Lentil Salad which he had packed for us earlier and dumped it into a box with the Teriyaki Salmon. We were so impressed with him for making this suggestion to us, and trying to save us a bit of money! He didn't have to offer up this information to us, and could have saved himself the trouble of having to repackage the Greek Lentil Salad, and figure out what to do with the now soiled container that the Greek Lentil Salad had previously been sitting in.
