I've been going to MT for a while now, and it has really helped me improve in my math skills. Don is a super funny teacher, and he makes classes very enjoyable. By attending MT, I was able to raise my grade up from the low 70s to an A at the end of the semester (sophomore year precal). I took MT Learning Center's summer SAT prep class before my junior year in high school as well as their geometry class the summer between 8th grade and 9th grade. The practice and information provided by these classes assisted me in familiarizing myself with complex concepts as well as allowed me to develop a sense of understanding regarding how best to study in order to perform well academically. Don easily breaks down difficult math theorems and problems while explaining it in a way that is easily understandable by his students. His class is definitely challenging, but they prepare you very well for the future. His humor also makes the class much more enjoyable and interactive. Taking his geometry class definitely prepared me very well as I transitioned from junior high math to high school level math. Walking into 9th grade with a pre-existing knowledge helped me to succeed throughout the school year. Don at MT learning has been a godsend for our son who was struggling in his AP calculus BC during his junior year in high school. His grade in AP Calculus BC was in the verge of failing which caught us by surprise since he got an A in his Pre-calculus class during his sophomore year. After my son's got his first 2 unsatisfactory test results, I immediately enrolled him to Don's weekly group classes to put him on track. Don's assessment on my son's math foundation was a spot on and we confirmed that he needed additional help. I've been a student at MT Learning Center for around 5 years, and the teachers here have helped me immensely throughout my high school career. Don, who is one of the math teachers, is very patient with his students and always shows his students the most efficient way to solve problems while also making class enjoyable. I was always hesitant about my writing back then and pretty insecure about sharing my essays with others, but she was always able to significantly improve my essays by offering her open critiques and constructive feedback, which has significantly aided me in essays for both school and college apps. MIT was well ahead of others during the pandemic to ensure that students' learning would not be interrupted.  There was a choice between in-person and online classes in the summer of 2020, but I felt very comfortable sending my high schoolers to the center, with temperature-taking, strict mask enforcement, face shield on instructor, plexiglass guards between desks, and thorough cleaning between classes...all in place. Parents receive frequent e-mail updates from the center: notices of assessment, units covered in class, timely student progress report, and even class ranking. TAs at MIT work very hard to grade homework, tests and quizzes, and provide free help sessions to SAT students outside of class hours.  I would recommend MT to high school students who are determined to work hard, and whose parents are willing to support the students in collaboration with the instructor and TAs to ensure maximum learning and grade improvement. Math teacher Don attends to the individual needs of every student, monitors the progress of each of them, and creates a very positive environment that encourages students to put in their best efforts.  Perhaps this explains why MIT keeps its success in a single location.  Fremont students are very lucky that we don't have to travel far to access an SAT prep center of such high quality! read more

I used to come here during jr. high and high school for math tutoring; I really don't know how I would have passed honors math from 8th grade until 10th without Don. He's the absolute BEST. He teaches in a way that kids can understand, and remembers to give breaks at least once per class, so we don't get burnt out. He actually cares about his students, and goes out of his way to make lasting connections with them. After trying many other tutoring centers, MT is the only one that truly helped. The math teacher, Don, truly cares for his students and is willing to put in all the extra time and work with a child they need. I took classes at MT for SAT and for math, and both classes were a lot of help. The SAT classes were super useful- I went in not knowing anything about the test at all, and I was taught so much that I felt super confident when I actually took my test. I enjoyed my class so much that I went back the following year for math. Obviously, as with everything, you have to put in effort yourself, but Don, the math teacher, was willing to go above and beyond to help me. I was having trouble with my basic concepts, and he helped introduce a great textbook to me that was way more descriptive than the district issued one. One of the greatest things about MT was how relaxed they made the learning environment. The location itself is super convenient and close to lots of food places (and many milk tea shops!). For me, it was super comforting to be able to joke around with my teachers during break. It becomes easier to ask questions about concepts or approach your teacher when they're so easy to talk to. Even the lessons were taught in interesting ways, so that they were easier to grasp. If your child is struggling in school, wants to get ahead, or just needs a little extra help, definitely consider MT Learning Center. I went to MT during my sophomore and junior year of high school. I took AP Calculus AB, BC, and SAT 2 Math prep classes with Don. I was initially hesitant to go and it did take a couple of weeks for me to adjust to both the speed and teaching style, but I feel like it was probably one of the best decisions I made in high school. Going to MT definitely positively impacted my academics as it not only helped reinforce the topics that my teachers covered, but also cleared up any confusion I had. Don is very methodical in the way he teaches and often times while his questions may not be the easiest, they are thought provoking and help you gain the clearest understanding of the topic once you're done. He also definitely prepares you for all the tests. For AB and BC I very clearly remember having a packet of problems to do for review during spring break to prep for the upcoming AP tests. For SAT 2 Math, all the practice tests and tricks Don gives definitely work. I was a very average student when I first started, scoring in the mid 600s which is a relatively low score. After the 10 or so weeks I spent with Don, I managed to score a 760. This to some may not be good enough, but for me it was a huge accomplishment. I hadn't scored anywhere near that in the past and I actually don't think I would have been able to score that high if I didn't take the class with Don. There is a lot of work as you take a practice test every week outside of the class, but you can't expect results without putting in the work as well. Don gives you all the tools you need to succeed, it's just up to you to use them to your advantage. While the topics covered in class may be more intense and complicated, especially as the class levels rise, there is still a strong sense of camaraderie among the students. The topics may be serious but the environment definitely is not. Students are still joking around and engaging with each other. I personally think that my parents got their money's worth and I gained not only a reinforced understanding of math topics, but also a lot of great friendships as well. read more

Honestly, after attending classes at MT Learning Center for over 5 years, I can say with 100% confidence that MT Learning Center is the best tutoring center I have ever been to, and they will always hold a special place in my heart. Of course, the first time my mom signed me up for math classes over the summer at MT Learning Center, I was super unwilling to go. Who wants to spend their summer break taking more classes?? However, after attending the first class with Don (the main math teacher), I quickly realized that this place was not only going to be fun but also incredibly beneficial. Don really cares about his students, and he puts a lot of effort into making sure that everyone in the class understands the concepts before moving forward to another one. He's very considerate and is always willing to talk (and not just for help with math but with anything!!!) Furthermore, he teaches each concept in fun and memorable way, such as incorporating jokes or fun anecdotes to help us students learn better. But I personally never found the packets of material difficult to work through because Don was always willing to help explain if I ever needed help. Also, because the class sizes are smaller than classes at school, it's much easier to get help tailored to your personal needs. I've taken geometry, algebra 2, precalculus, AP calculus, and SAT II math prep with Don, and I've never regretted going to MT Learning Center for the help. With Don's excellent teaching skills, I was always able to maintain good grades in math at school, and I was even able to score a full 800 on SAT II math! Aside from Don, I've also had a chance to work with Cin-Yee, the English teacher there who also is in charge of college application services. I'm pretty sure that without her help in editing my college application essays, I wouldn't have gotten into all the schools I did. Cin-Yee listens intently to all you have to say, and as a result, she is very skilled in editing your essays so that your message is conveyed in a stronger, more fluent manner without sacrificing your own voice. She also gave me extremely helpful advice on which colleges might be better to apply for based on the major I chose, and she had a lot of knowledge to share about how to not only apply to college but also how to pick a college after acceptance letters came out. I really enjoyed working with Cin-Yee; she's super talented and has a wonderful sense of humor, and she definitely helped make applying for college less stressful. Basically, the success you get from being a student at MT Learning Center and attending their classes depends a lot on the work and effort you yourself put in (as is true for most things in life!). However, I can say that the reason why I was able to do so well with the help of MT Learning Center is that the staff there truly believe in you and your abilities. They never fail to encourage you and are always there to support you, just like a family.
