I had a bit of emergency situation when my chandelier from 20 foot ceilings, decided it didn't want to stay attached to the ceiling any longer. While it remained dangling from just a few wires I sent a quote request out on Angi. Mister Sparky was the second call I received. The dispatcher said he would check to see if he could get someone out that night so the chandelier didn't fall to the floor. He got all of my info and put the call out and then confirmed he did have someone who could come out between 6 and midnight. Within 30 minutes I received a call to learn they could not come out that night as due to the ceiling height as it was a 2 person job. They knew my ceiling height when they took the job so I was a little surprised. I sent a picture of the chandelier and the electrician said he thought it would make it through the night and would come first thing in the morning. I agreed because I had already told 2 other electricians I had someone coming so didn't have much choice. Luckily the chandelier held on for dear life and made it to the morning. The electrician and his helper arrived on time and were very friendly. I was a bit surprised by the quote being over $400 just to rehang the chandelier but I was stuck. So I agreed. As they started the work I was informed it would be now over $500 because they wanted to use a metal bracket instead of plastic. Or I could go shopping and buy a lighter chandelier. Really? Well at this point I agreed because I wasn't going shopping. The guys were great, did communicate the entire way through and cleaned up the huge mess that was made. Although I was irritated on the scheduling issue and the price, it is what it is and the guys were great so hence 4 stars. read more

Mr Paul from Mr Sparkys called me in regards to a request for service I made thru Angi.com. It was hard to explain the job I needed done as Angis service doesn't give many options to write what you actually need and they over charge for simple jobs. If I was in better health I would do it myself but I can't. After explaining what I needed Me Paul assured me that even though they usually don't do these small jobs he would definitely send a guy out to help me. Demetris showed up at my door with the biggest smile, best personality and was genuinely happy to help me out. He hung the lights in my yard in no time, we talked about my Memorial garden and he said to call Mr Sparky whenever I need some help! Even the girls in the office are very nice to talk to! This is a review for the Mr. Sparky servicing Kissimmee, and this listing was the closest location. Stay far, far, far away from this company. I had some minor things to look at that I was having issues with. Instead of sending an electrician to get right to work, they sent a salesman. This was my first warning sign. My husband was the one that called them up and gave them his name. When their salesman came to our door, he questioned who I was, where my husband was, and if I had any authority to make financial decisions. That was the next warning sign that I was going to be conned into a major project. He went about putting on a show of sticking a receptacle tester into every outlet while making his "concerned" comments. When we went into the kitchen, I said the kitchen is fine (we already had outlets replaced). He said, without doing anything, "no it's not". Then, I proceeded to tell him that the outlets were new. He still tried to find something to make an issue of. He also went into the garage and took off the fuse box panel to inspect and test it. He tried to tell me things that were wrong with it that were lies. I'm not an electrician, but I grew up in building and worked on my father's job sites including supervising and interacting with the onsite electricians. This guy from Mr. Sparky tried to make me believe that our situation was dire like our house might burn down. He gave me two options for electrical work to be done. He then proceeded to go out to his truck to come up with the estimates and would be back in 20 minutes (he also sat in front of our house for quite some time before he came to the door for the appointment). At this point, I have had enough of this BS show. He came back to the door and actually wanted to come back in to go over everything with me. I said to just leave the estimates with me, and I would look over them. I told him I don't have the time for this, and he said that "this has never happened before". Then, he just turned around, said "Have a nice day.", and left. I originally thought we used Mr. Sparky once before, but I was mistaken. We called up the other company we used before (after checking through our records), they sent an electrician who checked and took care of everything, and charged us $212.00. In my opinion, I think some people are too trusting and will just go along with it not realizing that more work than necessary is going to be done. If anyone tries to tell you that you will need any major work, get another couple of electricians in to look at issues themselves before jumping into the first estimate. Yeah, they might do good work that you're happy about; but it may have been more work than you really needed done. read more

I called for an estimate for electrical to be run for a hot tub and additional lighting. This is a big job as it is dedicated lines buried over a long distance. Anticipated cost ~$2k. They would not send anyone out without a $89 service charge. (even asked the manager). Most service companies give free estimates especially for a big job but not Sparky! Do not recommend. read more

1: Scheduled for them to come out and evaluate a job after waiting several days I'll never get back they called and said they had to cancel due to emergency. 2: They charge an upfront fee of about $60. Just to show up for an estimate of course it's waived if they do the work... I found several other electricians who came out gave great estimates no fee at all! 3: The phone operator talks to you at times condescendingly or with a type of disregard. Basically feels burned out not what I was expecting or my introduction I ignored it but should have listened to my gut feeling... 4: I write a lot of reviews most good some bad but I'm a real yelper and I say it like it is. After a couple of email exchanges, I had an appointment for Tuesday, December 28 from 10 am till 2 pm. At 12:30 pm I get a phone call stating that a technician cannot come out to give me a quote for my Tesla charger, and that they will have to reschedule me to Thursday instead. The frustrating part is I had already taken the day off on Tuesday awaiting their arrival and the new time on Thursday (10 am till 6 pm) would require a whole another day off. I told them if they could not fit me in on Tuesday, then just cancel my appointment and I will work with another company that truly wants my business. My husband called Mr. Sparky to come use an existing electrical line in our front yard to hook up to a light post that had been recently moved. Up front he mistakenly told Mr. Sparky he knew the electrical needed updating in our house but under no circumstances was that an option at this time. Mr. Sparky took a look at everything and then came and told my husband point blank he could not do the work whatsoever. He preceded to tell my husband how awful and dangerous our electrical was; that it hadn't been updated in 60 years, we didn't have a main switch to turn it all off, all the previous work that had been done was shitty, anything done had never had permits pulled, etc. Mr. Sparky insisted on arguing with my husband. The home passed the home inspection originally, we've have been here 5 years, and only have had a few minor electrical jobs completed by a licensed, reputable company we have been using for electrical, plumbing and AC for over 17 years. Basically he offered no alternative, suggesting his company would only do the work if we had everything updated. We know better than this. Using manipulation and intimidation to steer a client into something they don't want is a very poor sales tactic. Mr. Sparky was thrown out and told not to come back. Don't make the same mistake of calling Mr. Sparky. read more

My girlfriend used this company recently after discovering that they had a branch of their company in Winter Garden. We live in College Park and the also service the Colonialtown, Thornton Park, and other surrounding areas of Orlando as well. They called us to let us know an hour prior to our electrician's arrival (they give you a thirty minute window) and he arrived on time which is a big PLUS for me considering we have dealt with a lot of companies who do not pride themselves on arriving in a timely manner. Our electrician was so nice! I totally forgot his name and will update this review if I remember it so you can request him. He was super thorough and informative. My girlfriend sought out this company after an electrician in their Tampa branch custom made a piece for some medical equipment a coworker had and my girlfriend was in need of the same thing. He had to run out to buy parts since the work was custom and was super helpful in deciding how she should wrap the wires for added durability and making it more portable. This job was a complex one and he accomplished it quickly and made sure it worked exactly how she needed it to! He even offered to switch out some dimmer switches for us since he was already there! Last but not least, they actually came down in price by $50 for being a new customer and for my girlfriend asking for a discount since the price we received was higher than the price her coworker had paid. DO NOT USE Mister Sparky under any circumstance!!! They changed one GFCI and one single light switch in our home and charged us $416.00! I am not even sure that the light switch is new because it is filthy. They knew we needed help because we had a house full of guests and we agreed to pay $129. fee to have same day, but then they charged us $192. for a $21. GFCI and $95. for a filthy $6. light switch; I looked up the prices. When I called to inquire, the "Manager" yelled at me telling me that I don't know what it takes to run a company, explaining the costs of drug testing, insurance, etc. read more
