So the counter person took them back up to the register to check the prices, they were in the $23 & $24 range for 14 ounces. That's double the price I pay for ground venison and ground elk at the Litchfield Locker, the prices there are $11.99/lb (venison) & 10.99/lb (elk) respectively. So, needless to say, I just wasn't interested in being fleeced, no thanks. I won't be returning.

I have been visiting a variety of farms around Connecticut this summer and I was so excited when I…read morefound a farm that made pizza. Lakeside Farm was founded in 1997 and is a beautiful farm at the foot of Quonnipaug Lake in Guilford, Connecticut. There Farm Stand opened in 2015 and serves twenty four flavors of ice cream, pizza, grinders, and soup everyday of the week. The farm stand offers seasonal products including vegetables, fruits, herbs, tomato sauce, strawberry jam, eggs, butter, maple syrup, and local honey. Lakeside farm also has a small farm with llamas, so it's a great place for the kids. As I walked in the farm store, I was greeted by the owner and she was very friendly and she talked about how they started making pizza on the farm. She stated that her husband had a pizza shop and he wanted to start making pizza at the farm. What a great idea!!! I ordered a small Vegetable pizza and the vegetables were straight from the garden. When my pizza came out, my pizza definitely didn't look like a small. It looked more liked a medium or a large pizza. There were definitely a big helping of toppings and the sauce tasted homemade ,and made with love. The only thing I would do differently is to cook the pizza a little longer to hold up to the toppings. There was so much toppings that the dough couldn't hold up. I had some leftover over pizza and heated up at home for my kids and I and I made the crust crispy, and boy this was some great pizza!! The customer service was great and I love to support farms. I would definitely be back again to try the Ice Cream and to buy some farm fresh products.

I've lived in WH nearly all of my life and I think this may be the first time I've gone to "the Crown". Lucky for me some of my best yelp friends like Dan R., have already provided quite thorough reviews of all of the goodness that the Crown has to offer. I got there shortly after they opened and meandered about trying to find the soup but ended up asking one of the sweet deli guys "is it too early for matzo ball soup?" and he said "we ALWAYS have it, what would you like, a pint or a quart? Hot or cold?" He hooked me up with a quart for about $11 with two nice matzo balls in it. I ate that soup at 9am and it was awesome. This market is pretty awesome. The deli is HUGE, they make their own pizza and sushi.
