What a treat it was to stop by Mister B's! The owner, Danny, was so friendly and welcoming as soon as we entered the store. It's clear to see that he's very passionate about his business, and he took the time to explain how he makes his products and walked us through the different offerings he has. They had some unique flavors, like dill that they were doing for the pickle festival, and we're curious to come back during the apple fest to try their apple pie flavor that they make! I like that they have an easy-chew style because there's nothing worse than feeling like you're ripping your teeth out! Definitely the freshest jerky we've ever tried, and even though it may not last as long as the big name brands due to not having preservatives, I'd choose Mister B's any day - the quality is unmatched! Such a great local business in downtown Southington that even gives a discount for military members, veterans, and healthcare workers. Let's start with the amazing owner, loves to talk jerky which I also love jerky! Also this now starts the jerky war with my dad and I believe I might win and bring him to the Mister B's jerky side. This guy does it right, several flavors to choose from and flavors that I've never even thought of as a jerky flavor like cheddar or provolone and their version of a chicken wing, glorious blue cheese included. They also offer different types of jerky chews from old fashioned to easy chew, which will appease all jerky fans young and old. So today I snatched 5 flavors, currently working through the Cajun which is a total hit in my mouth and book! The Capitols - Cool Jerk The Southington King of Cool Jerky is Dan Baril, and he has a business card with the epic title of "Master Jerk" to prove it. You will find him at Mister B's Jerky Company on North Main Street in Southington. On our way to the Apple Festival, we spied his store, and if you're like me there is no will power powerful enough to stop us from walking into a beef jerky store. What a fun place we discovered ! Dan the "Master Jerk" is a super friendly guy and gave us some samples of his products. He sells two types of jerky - "Old Fashioned" in four varieties at $36 per pound and "Easy Chew" in ten varieties at $40 per pound. In honor of the Apple Festival, yes he did have an Apple flavored jerky that was sweet and delicious. I was very intrigued by a Blue Cheese flavored jerky sold in the Easy Chew variety. I sampled a taste (warm from the oven) and it was great, so I sprung for a quarter pound at ten bucks. Man oh man, is that good. It is so great to have a local jerky shop! Usually we are stuck with the grocery store stuff, or paying really high prices at the Big E for jerky that is still not that fabulous. I found out about Mister B's on Southington Talks on Facebook on Superbowl weekend, and promptly drove there to check it out. The owner was super nice and explained the different products to us. He has traditional jerky in a few flavors, but also has easy chew jerky in many flavors. The easy chew jerky was slightly more expensive but worth it. It sort of had the texture of a slim jim or something like that, but the flavors were amazing and unlike anything I've ever had before. The jerky has less preservatives in it so doesn't last as long, and needs to be refrigerated. I think that's great. Meat shouldn't be able to last forever in your cabinet! We went with traditional cajun and hot hickory, and easy chew garlic, buffalo blue cheese, and a special bacon cheddar. He let us try a few samples before we bought anything which was nice. We were very happy with all of the flavors that we purchased, and will definitely be back to buy more in the future. This place has been on my radar for a few months and I finally had the opportunity to stop in. I met the owner and he was a really nice guy, explained all the flavors and types of jerky he had. He let my try some new flavored meat sticks he made and I was sold. I bought the regular jerky in hickory and sweet and spicy flavors ...both were excellent. The pepper beef sticks are fantastic and this is my new jerky spot. I'm happy to support a small local business putting out a great product. read more

Apple pie jerky!!! Woo hoo!!!! So I see mister Bs is a spot in downtown Southington CT now. I will definitely be frequenting this shop! They have easy to chew and original Jerkys. We tried the apple pie flavored and bought some apple pie, jalepeno, Cajun and hickory flavored. The owner is nice and we have jerky enough for a week now! Lol. I visited Mister Bs yesterday for the first time and I will definitely be coming back. The jerky is about 1000 times better than anything you can get at the store. The owner is super friendly and easy to talk to. I bought cajun old fashioned, bbq old fashioned and easy chew teriyaki. The BBQ is my favorite, and I'll be returning in a few days to buy more. Hands down the best jerky in Connecticut. I typically order good jerky from a place in Texas, but ever since I found Mister B's I simply drive up from New Haven from time to time and load up on a few pounds. The owners are also incredibly friendly. The first time I went I asked how they make their jerky, and they took the time to walk me through their process. As someone who is a HUGE fan of beef jerky I was extremely excited to see they opened a jerky place in southington. This jerky is some of the best I've ever had and I will definitely be returning. It's flavored well, isn't too tough, and they have jerky with cheese in it!The price is a little on the high side but the quality is much higher than many I've had so I feel it's worth the price. Parking is also a little weird and there are only a few spots in the front. It's best to just park in the lot behind the store and walk around. Awesome beef jerky! The young lady that helped me was very friendly and patient letting me sample all the delicious jerky. I ended up getting a package of regular and the easy chew. Easy chew with hot hickory was my favorite. I can't wait to get it again. I always seem to go there on a Monday or Tuesday to find they are closed but they are open late during the week.
