Time to be good

Growing up as a kid and in elementary school here in So Cal we had to do reports on all of the missions this one however wasn't on the list. We really enjoyed visiting and learning the history of it. Maybe I'll go back home to Arizona and do a report just for fun. Thank you to the city of Pala for preserving a beautiful piece of history to Southern California.

This was the first mission in California that I visited. There's not much to see except the simple church interior with lovely hand-painted walls and timber ceiling. Since it's near the casino, you can weep to your god in one of the pews after you've lost all your money at the slots.

On our way to Julian, we stumbled upon this Mission church in Pala, CA. Mission San Antonio De Pala! It is a branch (asistencia) of Mission San Luis Rey. Founded in June 13, 1816. It is a Catholic Historical Site. There is a museum, gift shop, gardens, cemetery, and a chapel. Masses are still celebrated at the adobe chapel to this day. Interesting fact, the (belltower) campanario is believed to be the only freestanding one of its kind among all the California missions. We were able to see a few areas of the mission. The cemetery and gardens are situated behind the campanario. The chapel was open so we were able to say a prayer inside. Unfortunately, both the museum and gift shop were closed the day we passed by. Those two places are open Wednesday through Sunday from 9am to 4pm. Mission San Antonio De Pala is not a destination for most folks unlike the Pala Casino close by. Still if you are in the neighborhood, drop on by. Learn a bit about the history, and say a prayer. Amen!

Like Michael G. next door, I am also not a dedicated Catholic, more of a cafeteria Catholic if the truth be told. My husband is Agnostic but we greatly enjoy visiting old churches and cemeteries for the history, old beauty and art. The mission is not a disappointment and our visit to the cemetery first was humbling and then the church itself, was pretty amazing. I have posted several pictures of the various grave sites and it's humbling to see how many people died at such ages. There are several priests that are buried together and oddly enough, they all seemed to have died within a few years of each other. Perhaps they served all over the country and came back home to be buried. The cemetery itself has many weather worn mementos by the loved ones of the folks who have passed, even the really old headstones. It is as well taken care of as it can be I suppose, out in such a dry place but it is peaceful. Before we left, we stopped in the church and that experience in itself was lovely. The chapel is small but very well maintained, quiet, gently lighted and there was holy water in the entrance so that even an old cafeteria Catholic like me could bless herself. The altar is a gorgeous homage to native art and native saints and it just smelled and felt like heaven must feel like. The ceiling is made of handhewn timbers and he walls look handpainted. I sat there for several minutes enjoying the ambiance and praying quietly. Visit if you can, you won't regret it.

While I am not your most dedicated Christian, I can tell you that this place is a great place to visit even for those of us whom may need to brush up on our sacraments. Situated on an Indian reservation, only a few minutes from the Pala casino, the Mission San Antonio de Pala is a well maintained relic of a spirited and storied past. The mission itself is wide and sprawling, and has many areas to be seen. When you enter the parking lot, there is a school area that houses several classrooms, a play ground and even an "historical jail" To the left is the burial ground that dates back to the 19th century. Contained therein is a beautifully maintained bell tower. Around the corner from the cemetery is the church. Narrow but long, rich with history, not gaudy or embellished with gold like most other churches. Wooden pews, and adobe walls, it remains comfortably cool even amidst the hottest weather. There is a beautiful garden area contained beyond the gift shop, which is definitely worth a visit.

Stopped by to check out this mission which is not considered to be apart of the 21 Missions of California, but is considered to be an asistencia to the San Luis Rey Mission. It is located in the middle of Pala. Admission is only $2 for Adults and $1 for Children. This mission is small and takes appx. 45m to observe everything.

Built as an extension of San Luis Rey, one of the only remaining missions that support the local community. Just around the corner from Pala, it's a well worth stop.

This church is very very old and it's a historical building. What a great place to visit to get the character of the old churches. The garden is very beautiful. I really enjoyed my visit.

Amazing place. Connects with local tribal patrons too. Well worth going. Stepping into the chapel was absolutely spiritual and moving.

Call in advance to visit the gift shop. Just like other industries, after the pandemic there is a shortage of staff.

The Bible is precious. A church & its sermons should be preoccupied with God's Word which Scripture…read moresays is "sharper than a two edged sword".... This church is NOT "preoccupied" w/God's Word. Rather, the pastor is far too fond of his views & coddling away from discomfort. If you are looking for a place to hear a pastor's view of life & "feel" comfortable .... go here! If instead ready to be challenged & transformed by the renewing of your mind via God's Precious Word go elsewhere. Honestly, the fact they don't call it Rancho "Christian" church is appropriate from what I didn't hear there. Christianity is centered on Jesus Christ & the magnitude of Father God's sacrifice of His Son... there are expectations related to that sacrifice. (No side-stepping it). "Work out your salvation w/fear & trembling" is not to be treated as an optional side show. Disappointing

Rachel enlisted other church members to berate and belittle me because I don't have the same views they do. I hope that I am wrong and a few bad apples haven't spoiled the bunch.

Maybe that was just the weekend I was there. The weather was quite hot and one time the 'side' was a soup. It looked lovely but none of us really went for it. Portions were on the smaller side, but the group I was with was mostly 70+ in age. I did want an extra korean rib and they said things were portioned for the number in the group. But if there was some left I could come back and grab one. Makes sense. The conference rooms had fridges and kitchenettes so you could store any food/drinks you brought with. Also coffee and creamer every morning. If you have not been, keep in mind this is a NUNNARY. Rooms and facilities are very basic. Beds were fine. Each room has AC and a bathroom with shower. My one gripe is they had lots of standing water around the property. Which means mosquitos and I definitely came home with bites. Also the pool was non-operational. Which I planned to use since one day was 85. I do hear prices are going up again next year. I guess it is what it is.

I really hate to say the price keeps going up and the quality is going down. The food used to be amazing! The selections awesome! Sunday brunch was just like I was going out to a fine dining place. Unfortunately, the last few years the quality and selection is not the same for all the meals. I feel someone is budget shopping for ingredients and the chef is trying to make the best he can with what he is given. But it's not worth what I am paying. I shouldn't have to bring I food to supplement the food I am already paying for. Their ice tea used to be wonderful but now you know it's not real brewed tea. This weekend, trash not emptied, ice not replenished, paper towels out in the coffee area, they are adding water to the soap in the bathroom to make it last longer, etc. prices are going up but services are going down. The staff are amazing but it seems like they are really limiting the quality of what they can do. If you need to raise prices to keep quality it these tough economic times it ok! But don't raise prices and lower quality without written notice of what you are doing.

In life there are few times when you can say that a group of people have so impacted your life,…read morethat you truly would not be who you are, had you not spend time together. That's the story of my Centerpoint journey. I came from out of state and did lots of research into churches in the Murrieta/Temecula Valley. Even online, Centerpoint grabbed my heart with a website that is not only easy to navigate and looks good, but clearly displays in text, photo and video, the vibe you can expect from this community of believers. From my very first visit, I was welcomed by peeps who greeted me warmly before I even got to the door, with more friendly faces on the inside too. The musical worship is on point. Expect fun and modern worship sets. You'll worship to music from Hillsong United, Bethel, Jesus Culture, Chris Tomlin, Gungor, etc. I sooooo loooove the musical worship here. We have lights from the stage, but not a light show. Sometimes Pastor John will even lead us in a song. That's it's own treat! =) Even the announcement videos are creatively informative and many times, funny. And when it comes to getting plugged in...there is a bunch to chose from! I got plugged into the men's group right away and have been a regular attender to the church and group for just over two years. I've also been active with Centerpoint missions and singles. I've truly loved and made great friendships in each of the groups I've participated. When it comes to preaching, Pastor John is a passionate, thorough, vulnerable and at times silly. I love that he does the voices of characters from scripture! Haha! After hearing him preach for two years and having several one on one meetings, I can tell you that John has a deep love for God and His people. He has an evangelistic heart and doesn't go one week without giving folks an opportunity to start a personal relationship with Christ. Here are some other things to prayerfully consider: 1. Children's Ministry: My kids are grown. But, my friend's who have kids in the programs, love it. 2. Youth Ministry: Same as above. **Both ministries have new facilities designed just for their age groups and have several full-time staff in each area, with tons of volunteers.** 3. Men's Ministry: I LOVE my brothers! Several groups to chose from. 4. Women's Ministry: Ask for Sharon or Heather. These ladies are such a hoot! =) 5. Service/Missions: Plenty of stuff to be involved in to make a difference in our community and beyond. 6. Staff: Friendly, godly, silly, loving, passionate, fun, Spirit-filled leaders! Why write such a long review? Because finding a community of faith is one of our most important needs and doing life with the Centerpoint family has been one of my life's greatest joys. Whether you're just looking for a church for the holidays or are truly seeking a community to call your own, give Centerpoint a chance. All churches have people that are hurting. Hurt people, hurt people. If you show up and don't feel as warmly greeted as you hoped, then look for someone else who looks new and meet them. You'll both appreciate it! Then, be sure to stop by the Connections Center. They give away free stuff to visitors. =) Thanks for reading and God bless! =)

Sometimes the screen does go through some bible quotes a bit too fast for me. I make sure to get bible app ready incase I do need to pause and reflect. I think those moments are the most meaningful for me because then I can have a personal conversation with God; so don't worry if the pastor doesn't get your message every Sunday, just know that if your intentions are family focused, community friendly, and you come to church with an open mind and an open heart, you will find the right message from God. Psalm 139: David's praying to God and he says, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." This speaks of the care and attention with which God has made us.

Church is always great to go to. I don't think you can really "rate" church... I just moved to this…read morearea and I went to "The Way" last week. I really liked it... but I did want to try a few other churches in the area before I settle in somewhere. I really like the aesthetic of this church. It's what drew me here. Honestly the location was a bit difficult to get to... it's right off the freeway pretty much and I should have seen that as God speaking to me... cause that automatically being difficult made me think "I wouldn't want to drive this way again...." Anyways... it's a beautiful church. However, I felt the presence of God really lacking here.... The worship was SO rushed.... It was actually stressful. The tempo was faster than the original song for Way Maker, it made it really hard to relax and focus... though I tried my best the whole service to make my visit about God and not my preference.... So I could at leave with something and take something away as I came to be encouraged and worship. It just made it very hard to focus.. I don't know who spoke today. And I give the guy props, because I know talking to a crowd is a lot harder than it looks. But I felt the message had a great message, however, was lacking with scriptural backing... it could have been a really powerful message had there been more time given to it and more scripture to give background and a firm standing... the message was not built on sound doctrine. He was talking about the anti christ and talking about that he's going to be a political leader and as soon as I heard that I knew not to listen to the message anymore.... There was also no scripture shared to back what he was saying about the anti christ..... we don't know. We won't know. But I do believe as believers we will continue to see things God shows us to remind us He is coming... like with Covid and the vaccine. there are "many anti christs" the Bible says... the anti christ is anyone who does not confess Jesus is Lord. 1 John 4. He's already here. I wanted to leave so bad but I didn't want to get up and be rude. The best part of the service was this Asian lady sat next to me and she was so friendly and I don't think she really spoke English but I was so happy she sat next to me. Shoutout to the dude who spoke today, tho, you really had some great points; just felt very pretentious and there wasn't any scriptural backing for majority of the things you were saying. I want to see scripture. I want to go deep into the word. I'm not interested in hearing someone talk about their opinions. Give me the word. Not just one, two, three single verses scattered across multiple books.... It doesn't built a strong foundation or depth to the message but you really had something powerful God gave you about the stump and something growing out of whats dead. Thank you so much for sharing. I left today feeling like I did not spend time with God and I went to a performance. Slow down, take a breath.... It felt very pretentious and an intense need to be intelligent... you're doing awesome and have a great church just slow down and come back to what's really important...
