Very, very good bbq. Highly recommend! Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx to get this posted. Oh ffs!

Visited here with friends for a weekday lunch and enjoyed the smoked turkey, greens, and cornbread. I also purchased a commemorative cup so I can get reduced prices on refills (that's IF the cup isn't forgotten at home though). Love all of the variety of sauces on the table. Even found a new one at the counter with some horseradish added, which thrilled me. Thanks for the heads up from one of the staff -- much appreciated! Noise level is mild to moderate. Restaurant is very clean. Staff are all extremely friendly and welcoming. One of the staff brought some complimentary cookies to the table for one of our guys who had served. What a nice gesture! Looking forward to return visits in the near future. Appreciate the concept and honoring our service members. I did deduct 1 star this time since one of my friends informed me about something that caused him to pause. He stated a bit of an "ick" that the photos of women service members are apparently displayed in the men's restroom in the stalls. Can't help but feel it's a bit disrespectful and wish those were displayed in the restaurant with all of the other service members. I'll check out the women's facilities during my next visit to see if perhaps a commensurate display of service members is also similarly in place. read more

Order and pay at the register then pick up from counter when called. Self serve drinks. I highly recommend the chopped brisket sandwich. It may not be quite as good as Bucee's but close. I really like the fresh potato fries and the Mac & Cheese...is...amazing. They usually have a special going on that is not on the regular menu. I love the atmosphere decor relating to military and public service heros. read more

When traveling Mission barbecue in Charlestown, Indiana has a regular place we enjoy. We traveled there over the weekend and the restaurant wasn't busy. It was clean as always and the staff were friendly. I ordered wings and some sides. The wings were good but not the best I've had from this location. Overall we enjoyed the meal and sides. We will be back later. read more

Every time I'm in the area. This is a must stop for me. The brisket and pulled pork are outstanding. They give you lots of choices with their sauces. They're all good but I'm a Classic guy. The collared greens are so flavorful I could live off those. The potato salad is so tasty with a mustard flavor that doesn't overwhelm but gives the flavor profile some texture. The mac n cheese is so creamy and cheesy. I have a hard time choosing which side to get with my meal. The staff is great! They are friendly and patient. Maybe the best part...and the parts I talked about are amazing, but the best part is that the decor honors the military and first responders. Those men and women who lay down their lives for others. Having been raised in a military family, I vibe with the decor. Love this place! Anytime I'm in Louisville I will come here at least once. Must have! read more

I was craving some BBQ while traveling and found Mission BBQ. Great story, really good BBQ, friendly service and casual ambiance. When you walk in, the mission of Mission BBQ is very clear - good tasting (and smelling) BBQ and honoring our service members. They do a great job. The BBQ was really good. I had the two meat combo with brisket and sausage, along with some greens and cornbread. Very tasty and filling. I will return when I am in the area. read more

Mission has the best brisket in Louisville! You decide if you want moist or lean (go moist, trust me you won't regret it). The 6 different bbq sauces at the tables are all tasty. The service is top notch and the restaurant is always clean. Food is à la carte but prices are reasonable. read more

First off I wanna think Landon and the folks at Mission BBQ for hosting us women veterans today. This was so special to share with other female veterans as we had spent the day in Frankfurt, reading the proclamation from the governor viewing the women's exhibit at the Kentucky history Museum in Frankfurt it was so appreciated that they thought enough of us to give us food. The ambience in the place is very welcoming and warm. The staff is amazing and attentive. The food is very very tasty even if they weren't hosting us I would go back to this place. Thank you again so so much for what you did for us and what you do for those who serve be at local or federal you guys rock read more

My absolute go-to spot for BBQ in Louisville! I've tried the entire menu and everything is amazing, especially the brisket, mac n' cheese, and greens. They are veteran-owned, and while there is no standard veteran discount, veterans get a free dessert! read more

Hooray for Yelp. We landed at the airport after a long day of travel and while we were waiting to deplane looked up well reviewed restaurants, and it led us here. What an absolutely incredible find. The food was way above average and the decor. Is military themed and adorable. read more

I was craving some BBQ and Mission was my first thought. The staff are always so friendly and service is always excellent. Atmosphere is nostalgic. You will see pictures of veterans from all over and being the daughter of an Army Veteran that makes me smile. We chose the Brisket Sandwich with Mac-n-cheese and baked beans and the Pulled Chicken Sandwich with baked beans and fries. Their baked beans are phenomenal. I could just order those. All the sauces at Mission BBQ are on each table for you to try. There's at least six different flavors. Guaranteed to be something for everyone. read more

We got takeout. Awesome. Ribs, brisket, pork. Fast and hot. Only issue is could not figure out delivery. But we all really enjoyed the food

Mission BBQ is always excellent! The service was great, the food was pretty good, and the ambience is always chill. Definitely a solid choice. As always, I'm looking for Gluten Free options. I got the two meat plate with smoked Turkey and cheddar sausage. Coleslaw and baked beans are gluten free! I will definitely be back to a Mission BBQ, but I'm also trying to find a local favorite. read more

Food here has always been great. It does have a bit of that chain restaurant bbq taste and feel but over all good. As a former fire fighter here in Louisville I love the support mission bbq provides to local first responder agencies and really enjoy how the decorate with local agency photos and patches on the wall, gives it a big hometown feeling. Staff are always friendly and keep the place very clean. read more

I had a GREAT EXPERIENCE at MISSION BBQ yesterday 11/7/25. I was on my last day of visiting Louisville from Chicago with my sister from Arkansas. My sister's son and his wife live in Louisville and they suggested that the four of us try Mission BBQ; they had heard good things about the food. Well, all the good things they heard proved to be true! We ordered a variety of entrees which included smoked/pulled/chopped brisket, turkey, chicken, pork; and ribs; and collard greens, green beans, cheesy potatoes, macaroni & cheese, baked beans; and the apple*Carmel*cinnamon dessert. EVERYTHING was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Cooked with perfect flavoring...Meats were moist, tender and warm...Simply Delicious! The Service and Wait Staff were Outstandingly Courteous and eagerly Accommodating from the cashier who took our order to our waitress TIKI! BUT, my family and I want to give a special shout out and THANKS to MARLEY!!' OMG...Marley is a true angel, and an outstanding representative for Mission BBQ! Her caring personality, and her passion and love for her work and for Mission BBQ was admirable! She made us feel so appreciated and valued! She even gave us the history of the restaurant and provided us with locations in other states that we frequent and live in. I live in Illinois and she provided me with a location in Downers Grove, Illinois which is only 13 miles from where I live. Can't wait to visit that location when I return home. Marley's friendly attentive and informative interaction with us was refreshing blessing, and will never escape us. And the Ambiance was beautiful and clean. AND the Women RESTROOM was Absolutely BEAUTIFUL....Really Elegant, Upscale, and very clean! Definitely 5 Stars from us! read more

Mission bbq is a eastend Lousiville bbq joint just off Shelbyville road near the malls. A lot of people swear by mission bbq saying it is the best bbq in the city. I had seen the mission bbq franchises befor I other states but had never been to them or this local one. So I gave it a chance the other day while doing some running at then nearby st Mathews mall around lunch time. It was me my wife and my 4th born daughter who is 18 months old. The decor and Setup here is cool. Pats honor and tribute to our local heroes who serve on front line forces. There is almost honors and tributes on every square inch of the walls. You walk in to a counter and place your order and they give you a number and you take your seat. They will call out yiur number when it is Ready. They have some bbq sauce choices at the table and some by the fountain soda machines as well. One personally ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of beans. I sampled a few sauces trying to find the right one but if I'm being honest they were all just ok. Which described the sandwich to me. Just very ok. I wouldn't say it's bad but it isn't even cracking my top 5 bbq places here locally. The sandwich itself was a decent size. My wife got a chicken sandwich with baked beans and Mac and cheese that we fed to the baby. Her sandwich once again was just ok. Very plain even with the sauces. Where we differ was on the baked beans. I hated them and she loved them so there want an in between I guess. Overall very cool place with a great gimmick for honoring hero's. We were there at noon where they stop everyone have them Stand up and pay tribute as they played the national anthem. So that was cool and unique. I wish I liked there food a bit more but it was still a solid and enjoyable trip and experience. read more

Excellent bbq spot and all around good place to patronize. I love bbq and struggle to find good options, especially in Louisville (don't get me wrong, we have a few good ones, it's just that there are so few). This one, while I guess it's a "chain" and thus would discourage some, is a strong player and absolutely needs to be on everyone's list. The meats stand on their own--pork is smoky and flavorful, brisket is always tender and juicy (and brisket is my test of a bbq spot because, frankly, most places that don't specialize in it don't do it terribly well, leaving it tough or bland), turkey is a flavorful change of pace. Sauces just add another dimension, and there's a good variety: sweet (Memphis Belle), tangy (Texas Twang), "classic" (KC Classic...yes, I stole the name to describe it, but KC style sauce is what I grew up with so that's indeed classic to me), and unique and flavorful (Bay B Q, which has a solid dose of Old Bay; Smoky Mountain that has a sweet start with a splash of heat on the end; and others). Solid sides (green bean, collard greens, mac and cheese are my top picks). And there are always some good seasonal entrees (the Juicy Lucy style burger is a favorite), sides (corn pudding needs to be full time), and desserts (banana pudding can never be beaten). Service is fantastic. You order and pick up at the counter. Staff is friendly and helpful, and they'll check on you at your table too to be sure all is well. They truly make you feel welcome. The space is a beautiful hybrid. Feels like a a bbq joint, which is perfect, but it also pays homage to those who've served, which is part of their core purpose. If you like bbq, give it a try. If you don't...give it a try anyway, they might change your min read more

Great BBQ in the heart of St Matts! Six different sauces to go with pork, turkey or brisket BBQ. Sides are really tasty, we had green beans and their fries, which are skin on thinly sliced ones. It is really nice inside the restaurant. Clean and spacious. Our client at work had brought us food one day, and it was so delicious that I asked about the place. He explained that they support our veterans and people in uniform. He had a lot of great things to say about the restaurant, so I finally made it out here. Here is a little saying from their website: "Our young men and women in uniform. Veterans who served with honor. Our local Police, firefighters, and first responders who make our community a better place to live. They're the people we respect most of all, so MISSION BBQ tries to give back in return. From fundraisers to service projects, we have your back, donating over $20,000,000 supporting vital charities since opening our doors in 2011." We ended up getting a pint of mc&cheese, green beans, and baked beans. Along with a serving of cheesy potatoes and a pound of pulled pork. I really don't think that you can go wrong with this place. read more

We had this for our Social Committee Lunch it was so good.We will order from you all again.

I was skeptical when I saw a ribeye on the menu for less than $12. I asked how big they were and the lady said about 8 ounces. I ordered two of them and baby back ribs. The ribeyes were amazing, as good as a steak from a steakhouse like Longhorn and for half the price. Also, they were probably more than 8 ounces, probably like 10 ounces or 12. Undefeated. I didn't try the ribs but my mom said they were great. Will be returning for sure. Service was exceptional also. 5 minute wait for the two steaks and ribs, and I was greeted as I walked in and also as I walked out. Still confused as to how they can sell big ribeyes for $12 and stay in business but I'm not complaining! read more

I had the ribs about a week ago. Not to my liking. A true BBQ rib must be cooked with the sauce on! These are naked and you add the sauce after it is cooked. This gives you dry, stringy ribs. However, the pulled pork is quite tasty. read more

I stopped in here for lunch on a busy day. This was my first time here and the Menu was a little confusing but the very nice lady taking the orders walked around from behind the counter and explained everything to me. I chose the "meat-market" pulled pork which came with cornbread. For my sides I had the Collard Greens and Baked Beans. I felt like I was eating food that my Grandma cooked! IT WAS SO GOOD! Everything was melt in your mouth DELICIOUS! The set up is order at the Counter - they have only one size drink cups but the refills of beverage is free and the Sweet Tea is perfection! On the Tables you'll find SIX different BBQ sauces to choose from and a jar of Vinegar for your Greens, and plenty of napkins/paper towels. I chose the Memphis Belle Sauce! It was SPOT ON. This was LUNCH HEAVEN! I couldn't eat it all so they provided a carry out container. Very nice people, great atmosphere and great Patriotic Theme to respect our Veterans and Active Duty Military! The only downside was the music was SO LOUD... but it seems like it's that way everywhere! read more
