The takeout side of the restaurant is filled with healthy homemade quickgrab meals like brocolli or bean salads, sandwiches, and fruit. They have the best egg bread sandwiches! The baked goods are fabulous. You must try their brownies! And of course a rotating lunch menu that is also delicious. The convenience store has lots of extras. Checkout the selection in the drink cooler including local kombucha and hard to find pop flavours. It also has a wall of homemade products like soaps and lip balms. This place is crazy busy during the day, but the staff are both friendly and super fast, so you're always out quickly even for a sit down lunch. Highly recommend.

So Olga's Deli has been on my list of places to try for some time now, as I heard it's highly underrated and those who know, know. However, they are closed on weekends, and only open until 2pm on weekdays. So it took me a while to finally make it there, but I did, while I was on staycation! I got 2 sandwiches to go for my husband and I, a Club Sandwich ($7.52) and a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich ($7.52). Both sandwiches are on a white roll, which was a bit denser and more substantial than a hoagie roll. I liked that the Club Sandwich had real chicken breast meat that was grilled, so it was nice and hot. The bacon was smokey and tasty. I got to choose my toppings, so I went with the conventional lettuce and tomatoes, but also got some cucumbers and spicy eggplant. And I got mustard instead of mayo. I got the sandwich pressed. The Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich was made of deli roast beef, which was a bit disappointing, but unsurprisingly given the price point. It was fried on the grill with onions and bell peppers. The entire sandwich was toasted in the oven and the cheese got all melty, which I loved. I added lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and spicy eggplant to this sandwich too (yeah, I know, I'm weird. And was impressed that the lady making my sandwich didn't bat an eye at my toppings request, unlike the guy at Mr. Sub once upon a time who told me "that's weird" when I requested lettuce on a pizza sub, but I digress...). He said I get a free cookie because first time customers always get a free cookie. And he told me all customers, old and new, get a free cookie on Fridays. Nice! The cookies were peanut cookies and were buttery and full of crushed peanuts. My husband and I shared the sandwiches and ate half of each type. I preferred the Club over the Philly. There's seating to eat in. The ambiance is a hybrid between an old school diner and a cafe. Staff were working on some catering orders while I was there. So I got the Small Ancho Chicken and Black Bean Bowl for $12.51 (for 2 bowls since it was buy one get one free). I ordered it for pick up and it was ready in 9 minutes. The bowls were really small and shallow, and they didn't even fill the bowl, so even at BOGO, I didn't feel like it was much of a deal, and I would have been pretty unhappy had I paid regular price. However, the taste of the bowls wasn't bad. The amount of protein was minimal, but the chicken pieces that were there were lean and tasty (not dry). The black beans were actually a black bean patty, cut up. It had black beans, corn and some grains inside. It added nice texture to the bowl. The rice was nicely cooked and the spinach, tomatoes and green peppers were fresh. The hot banana peppers were spicy and the tiny spoonful of guacamole was good. There was also a miniscule amount of grated cheddar cheese in the bowl. I asked for the sauces on the side, and my request was accommodated. The chipotle sauce was creamy and delicious with just a bit of kick. The hot sauce added more kick, lol. Service was courteous and efficient. Pickup was quick and everything was well packaged. I'm glad to see that Pita Pit branched out from their original days of just serving pita wraps. However, I feel the same way about it now as I did 20 years ago: it's OK. This location is in a shopping plaza. Same plaza as Food Basics, Kardish, Cold Stone Creamery and Saigon Pho. There's a movie theatre and a Toys R Us in the plaza too.
