After driving through Dodge City I was looking for an iconic restaurant and here it is, Dodge City wouldn't be the same without Miss Kitty so a visit was more than needed, seating wasn't an issue and the service was prompt, for me a basic breakfast was in order and I wasn't disappointed, as I was enjoying my meal I kept glancing at the decor that surrounded me and kept thinking of the TV series, I guess my childhood memories took over for a time, but that's why I stopped by and wanted to experience this restaurant read more

Visited 10/16/2022 Great little tourist breakfast and lunch restaurant. Service was sketchy because the Hostess and several other staff didn't understand English. Very few traditional breakfast locations in Dodge City .. this is one of them. We hit it as the doors opened at 9am. There was already a line. We were seated fast and I had my coffee quickly :) The prices are good. The food is average .. nothing wow'd me but it was old fashion good. My son had the pancake combo with hashbrowns and bacon. My girlfriend & I drove across country recently. After staying in a hotel in town, we went to this cafe for breakfast, based on Yelp reviews. We are not... Kansas folk. When we walked in, we were struck with how we maybe didn't belong... but I think that was probably just a bit of culture shock; there was some diversity and people seemed pleasant. My girlfriend and I both got the cafe's version of huevos rancheros. We've had the same meal for breakfast at several different restaurants on this trip. My girlfriend liked her meal a lot, so it compared well to other places. I personally enjoyed someone else's version of this meal more, but I didn't dislike this one... but: An important note to vegetarians: We were somewhat stunned to find a huge sausage (split down the middle into long halves) on each plate. This wasn't listed in the meal's description, though it was visible in the tiny photo of the meal on the menu (I couldn't tell what it was and neglected to ask). My girlfriend eats meat, but these sausages didn't appeal to her (spicy, oily). I'm vegan, flexing to vegetarian for this trip, and had to just sort of accept that some of my meal had this sausage grease/oil on my food. I'm not happy about it but I needed to cope with less accessibility to special diets when traveling. Other vegetarians I know couldn't do this, so, vegetarians be warned: there might be unexpected meat in a dish that doesn't explicitly list it in the description. ASK FIRST! There were large portion sizes here, as was common in our experience at most restaurants we went to on this road trip. We were treated fine and the food was good. It's not our kind of ambience, but we'd go back (and politely ask them to hold the sausage). read more

Heading back to Reno, Nevada, we were looking for a late lunch, and we found this diner on my Nuvi. What a treat! The lunch combo had a Chile Relleno that was SO good I didn't need the Tamali or Tostada. My wife's Marshall Skillet was a wonderful combination of a skirt steak and an egg, on a bed of chorizo and vegetable melange. It was SO DELICIOUS that my wife wants to drive back to Dodge City to order it again! ( it's only 1400 miles, one way!)On top of the great food, the service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant is like a mini Gunsmoke museum. An excellent choice to dine here. The food was amazing. The steak sandwich was cooked to perfection, the steak was thinly cut and breaded like a chicken fried steak and generous! Extremely tender and I'm happy I tried it. The steak fries were thinly cut which definitely enjoyed! The meals I saw being delivered looked amazing and generously portioned as well. The best part for me was the service. Cesar came to each table checking on all of us to make sure we were happy and our needs were met. It is so refreshing to meet someone who truly enjoys his job and takes an interest in his customers. Both being from California originally it was nice to visit a bit about our home state. We recently passed through Dodge City around the noon hour and when Miss Kitty's showed up on our quest for food we couldn't resist. Service was prompt with an ample wait staff ready to take our lunch order. The menu was heavy on TexMex options and I opted for a taco salad. My companion went the safe route and ordered a hamburger accompanied with a full plate of fries. We both received quick and large helpings. The taco salad was served in a tortilla bowl but it was soggy and the ground beef had an unusual seasoning that did not sit well when traveling. The hamburger plate was as a basic burger well cooked and a better option than my taco salad. The walls are covered in pictures from the western series Gunsmoke and a television appeared to be running a loop of episodes from the popular vintage show. Restrooms were dated and needed a deep clean but were serviceable. Parking was plentiful and the location was convenient for a quick food stop. I am not sure we will be stopping on our return trip but Gunsmoke fans will enjoy the memorabilia. read more

I've been here several times since moving here. Everything I've had is good. Their burgers are THICC and the Mexican food is amazing as well. We always love their food. It's very nostalgic and reminds me of little diners we would go to as kids. I'll always come back here for some good food and excellent service! Every thing is great. Bathrooms are really bad. The food is fresh hot when you get it. The waitresses are really nice and are very attentive. Everything was great at this cafe! We liked all the waitstaff! The food was really good and the beverages! I tried and liked the cucumber juice, too! It was new to me and I'd get that again! The reviews are awesome but I thought the food was nasty. The women were running around non-stop. Think I was asked a hundred times if we needed anything or if we needed drinks topped off. The service was fast as well. These lady's were sweet and down to business. The food.... We ordered fish tacos and chicken fried steak. It's located on the outskirts of town ( east side ) and has an RV park next door. Parking wasn't an issue either. Once inside the place is for sure dated and lighting isn't the greatest. There's tons & tons of memorabilia allover the walls that's cool to read. I decided on a burger and fries & it probably took 20 minutes or so to come out. It was ok I guess but the fries were paper thin and for steak fries I expected them to be much thicker than they were. Ok so here's we're the experience went to crap very fast. When we were given our check I went to hand her my capital one cc and she said oh I'm sorry we only accept cash today because our system is down I had to of had that deer in the headlight look because she asked if I was ok. I'm like uh don't u think that wouldn't been an important thing to say when we sat down & not @ the end of my meal . I never carry cash & I guess the big city's have ruined me because I use Apple Pay probably 90% of the time now. I'm like ok so now what because I don't have cash. So, I had just finished an 11 day fast. I wanted to break my fast with red tomatoes, avocado slices and red onions drizzled in oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. What I got was a bowl of disappointment from a sandwich maker with the personality of a cremated corpse. I honestly didn't think tomatoes could be that color and Ive apparently found the only subway that thinks green is optional for guacamole because they didn't have avocados. Today my awesome co-driver, knowing the pure level of disappointment I felt was nothing less than determined to find me a dining experience that would not only soften the blow of me quitting my fast early but would hopefully leave me satisfied and happy. After digging through the bowels of yelp she found Miss Kitties Cafe less then 2/10ths of a mile away from the truck stop we had to stop at for fuel anyway. Despite my reservations, I know better than to mess with a hangry woman. First impressions were bleak. Gravel parking lot, no discernible parking spaces, and the smell of the cattle truck parked next to mine, gave me bleak hope that I was in for anything other than day 2 of disappointment. Walking into the rundown building with miss matched tiki decorations in the foyer, a cracked glass door, and booths that were outdated on Farris Beuller's Day Off. But there was one thing that gave me hope that my girl had found a true gem; the parking lot and the restaurant were packed. We were seated in one of only two available booths and immediately noticed the warmth of not only the staff, but of the dozens of highly satisfied customers. I have no doubt that everything i have described up until this point has turned away more than one bearded, ethically sourced , chai latte loving hipster. Their loss. During the course of our meal we were taken care of by no fewer than four separate people, all with smiles and the warmth that can only be found in people that take pride in what they do. A simple wanting glance would gain instant attention and have someone table side within 15 seconds. Honestly, the level of pleasantness, politeness, and attentiveness quickly disintegrated any negative feelings about the appearance of the place. After all, who cares about the wrapping paper when its the present inside that counts? We ordered a side of guacamole, Sopes, and Camarones al Mojo de Ajo which roughly translates to grilled garlic shrimp that will make you cry and forget the world around you. The guacamole was fresh, chunky, and seasoned so well I was happy to eat it with my spoon. The Sopes were so good that Niki breifly forgot how to talk as the delicate mix of meat, avocados, tomatoes, and sour cream exploded on her taste buds behind her lips. The shrimp was perfectly grilled with the butter and the garlic combination sending me to what I am sure is my first ever out of body experience. We shared our food eating in silence with only a gentle hum of content being heard from our booth. I had to have my plate taken away before I physically hurt my newly shrunken stomach. Niki however, wasn't letting me off that easy. She ordered the cheesecake filled chimichanga and fried icecream. I would like to tell you how it was, but the searing pain I got from being stabbed in the hand with a fork while trying to get a second bite caused me to briefly black out. Great little small town cafe/Texmex spot on a perfect little 2 lane highway through Kansas. Everything was hot and fresh. The service was friendly. My Steak Salad didn't even need dressing after mixing it all up. The Diablo Shrimp reminded me of a Mexican barbeque sauce, a bit of sweet with garlic. It was very good as well. my problem with this restaurant is every time we eat there something is wrong. Don't ever order hash browns in the afternoon. Every time I have they are inedible. It's like you get the leftover from in the morning. I have also had blueberry pancakes that tasted like dill pickles because I assumed that the blueberries had been stored under the pickles. On the positive side the wait staff is great. We eat there because they make one dish that my husband likes it's the huevos rancheros. The restaurant is always clean. read more
