Kayla (owner of Keeka's Kiddoz) has a predatory contract. You pay a fee to her (via Keeka's Kiddoz)…read moreevery time a babysitter sits for you IN ADDITION to the fee you pay to the sitter. In my case, she demanded $100 every time a sitter visited us. If you need to reschedule, then there is another fee to Kayla yet again, even if it is a makeup, as well as a cancellation fee. And the terms of her contract never expire -- you can never use a nanny found through her service ever again without either paying Kayla that per-visit fee or giving her a $500 "theft of services" fee. Parents beware!

I highly recommend using Keeka's Kiddoz if you are looking for a nanny. Kayla is super quick to…read morerespond and works very quickly to match you up with a wonderful nanny to fit your schedule. We used Keeka's Kiddoz 2 years ago to find a nanny for my three young boys (including a newborn) for two days a week. She found us the best nanny, who we love and became a part of our family. When our nanny decided to open up her own child care facility recently, Kayla helped us find another loving and nurturing nanny to watch my youngest. In both cases she was able to find us a wonderful nanny and very quickly! For anyone who may be hesitant due to cost, this is the second nanny service I've used (the other one was in California). To me, the upfront cost is completely worth it. Kayla pre-screens and pre-interviews the nannies and makes sure she is sending over highly qualified and dependable people. I've had many friends go through Care.com to find nannies and ended up with unpleasant experiences. It is completely worth the cost for ease and also knowing your child is home with someone who has been thoroughly screened and vetted. I can't say enough great things about Keeko's Kiddos- thank you!!

Alphabet Academy Westside

Alphabet Academy Westside

My two-and-a-half year old started at Alphabet Academy West Side about 6 weeks ago and I am really…read moreimpressed with the place. First... the cons... because everyone always wants to know the bad stuff right off the bat... The playground equipment and the toys are a little older... they are not the newest or the fanciest... but the kids still have a great time playing with them. They are also a full 18 minutes away from my house... which means that dropping off and picking up is a 40 minute round trip. In some big towns that is nothing... but in Bend - that is a serious commute! But... There is SO much love in this little daycare. The first day that I dropped off was with Shauna (at least I think it was Shauna)... when we walked in, she was sitting on the floor playing with trucks with some of the boys. She saw us come in and took a moment to tell the kids that she would be back. She came over to me and my son (in the interest of child safety and protecting his privacy - let's just call my kid Spiderman), briefly said hi to me, and then began what I feared would be a lengthily, tear-filled process of coaxing Spiderman to release his death grip on my legs. The conversation went something like this: Shauna: [down at Spiderman's level] Hi Spiderman... we are so excited that you are coming to play with us again today. Spiderman: [buried his head in my legs and increased his death grip] Shauna: Oh my goodness... that is such a nice toy you have there. Is that a teddy bear? Spiderman: [with a face like thunder and still maintaining his death grip] No... it's a kitty. Shauna: It's a kitty? Oh wow... That is such a cool kitty. Does your kitty have a name? Spiderman: [face very distrusting... one handed death grip] Meow-meow. Shauna: Meow-meow is an EXCELLENT name for a kitty. I bet when your kitty talks he goes meow-meow-meow-meow. Spiderman: [look of total amazement... how does this person KNOW this stuff] Yaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Shauna: Well Spiderman... you see those kids over there... I was playing cars with them... would you like to come and play cars with us? Spiderman: [back to slightly distrustful] Can Meow-meow come? Shauna: [holding out her hand] Of COURSE Meow-meow can come... he can even have his own car if he wants. Do you think he would prefer a truck or a car or a fire engine? Spiderman: [Happily running off with Shauna... leaving me in the dust] He would like a fire engine! Me: [thinking what the heck happened to my baby boy?] Excuse me Mister... Mommy needs a hug and a kiss goodbye before you play with trucks and fire engines. Spiderman: [Happily gives me a hug and kiss goodbye and trots off to play trucks] And that was that... I was sold... my kid was sold... even the silly stuffed cat was sold. Every morning of the first week was some sort of variation of this... different teachers... different conversations... but always getting down to his level... engaging him... and getting him excited to go play with the other kids. When I picked up was when the teachers had the conversations with me about how his day was and what he had done. Now when I pick up I have to bribe him to get in the car with me because he wants to stay and play. I am so relieved that I found a place where the teachers are so involved with the kids... and where my kid wants to go. It is so much easier for me to be a working parent knowing that my kid is happy. Some other things that are awesome: They start each day with work books and name writing. At the two-and-a-half level, they get to trace their name until they can write it themselves. But Spiderman has been going there for 6 weeks and, at only two-and-a-half can recognize his name and write some of the letters. He has learned to color in as opposed to just scribbling with a crayon... he can even somewhat stay in the lines. They go outside several times a day every day (except if it is really smokey or if it is below 40 degrees). Watch out... they do get dirty... don't send them to daycare in their good clothes! They have show and tell each Friday. Every time I have been there, the teachers have been fully engaged with the kids and have appeared to be really happy with their job. They love the kids! What more can you ask for?

I can't sing enough praises about alphabet academy and the teachers. I love the owner Shanna, and…read moreteachers Brandi, and Devi. They LOVE children. To know your kids are in a safe place, being nurtured and well loved while at work is the most comforting feeling. My son is now in 1st grade and started there when he was one. My daughter was lucky enough to get in as an infant after my maternity leave and is almost five. They have raised my children along side me. They serve breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack which is huge in my day to day life to not have to pack this for them. They have a nice daily routine with working learning, crafts, naps and play time. I am so very thankful I found Shanna and her team. Hope you get a spot here if you are looking for childcare. You will be blessed to have this team of ladies care for your child.

She loves teaching kids and she is the absolute best in the county at it. My kids tried out a couple of other schools in Bend before we found Eco-Kidz. After the first week we went from 3 days to 5 days a week because they begged me to go every day she was open. There was no complaining in the morning, no reminding them to get into the car... they were READY TO GO! She has an unbelievable set up at her school. Her Angel Bear Yoga and Meditation was amazing because my kids got more focused, calmer and paid attention better at home because of it. (I think this helped them learn much faster.) Even after we moved out to Sisters they begged me to bring them to her school one day a week so they could still enjoy her curriculum, which I did. They get to travel around the world, learn art by creating all sorts of things, science by growing things, mixing things together and tending to animals, take on animal and human characters in colorful, silly costumes, enjoy the specialized play areas, games and then... there is the awesome play yard. This school is SPECIAL. Today, 3 years later, my kids are both ONE YEAR AHEAD in Math and English... and it's all thanks to Eco-Kids. They learned how to LOVE LEARNING here. What more could I have asked for? Thank you from the bottom of my heart Mamabear. You're the best!
