After trying several other Pilates studios that felt impersonal, Motivate was such a breath of fresh air. Every single instructor is fantastic, but a few deserve a special mention. Odet is incredibly knowledgeable. This girl knows fitness! She knows exactly how to challenge and motivate her clients. Christine's positive energy, smile and genuine kindness make every class such a joy. Alin is also another amazing and motivating instructor. Mind you, this took months of build up for me to get to the point of finally put my thoughts on Yelp as a review. This place started off as Immunity Fitness (I have photos attached, please refer to them) and it was in a different location. Clients were updated with occasional emails which I appreciated quite a bit. I was even understanding that the gym needed to change locations, which was only a couple of blocks down the street. Not a big deal. BUT this is when things took a very poor turn. The emailed updates stopped coming. All updates were just scribbled notes taped onto the front door entrance. They changed their name to City Fit (which I was unaware of due to no updates) and when I was charged under this new name, I thought my card had been hacked so I had to call my credit card company for a replacement card and new number. This is already a hassle because I have to go through all my subscriptions and change the CC numbers manually. Unfortunately it wasn't the only time this happened. Again with no updates I was charged under yet another name: Precision Tune Auto Care. I stared at this statement for a good long while because for the life of me I couldn't remember getting my car fixed up from an auto care shop. I again had to get a new credit card and number thinking I got hacked again, once more having to go through all my subscriptions and changing the numbers manually. It wasn't until I got to the gym that I realized they changed the name on us again. Management changed and I was forced to take a photo of my drivers license and send it to a private number which I was really uncomfortable with, but had no choice because they wouldn't give me the code to the front door until I had done so. Again all this with no email updates or notices. Just a hand scribbled message taped onto the front door. No idea what the point of the multiple name changes are. Hopefully they're not up to shady intentions. If you look around the gym there's actually no license or permit for the gym which is also pretty sketchy. Equipment is on the older side and things are falling apart. Found some broken equipment today. I wouldn't be surprised if they threw us another curveball with no updates or if they read this and straight up cancel my membership without telling me. I've talked with some of the other members and they have shared their frustrations of the same issues with me as well. For anyone considering signing up here, I hope you read this so you can really make an informed decision before you decide to make the commitment here.

That's exactly why it's so frustrating to see a gym marketed as a premium facility have this many ongoing maintenance and management issues. The steam room has been out of service what feels like every other week. It appears to finally be fixed now, but given the history, we'll see how long that lasts. Several lockers have damaged or detached hinges that can literally snag, cut, or leave grease on your clothes when you hang things inside. Gym equipment breaks and can stay broken for weeks, sometimes close to a month. Whenever these issues are brought to management, the response is almost always some version of, "We're aware of it, we're waiting on corporate." At some point, that stops being an explanation. The back extension machine was also moved into the middle of the gym, where it now seems to get no use. When members complained, we were told its previous location was a fire hazard. That explanation is difficult to take seriously. The room has three exits, and the machine was not obstructing an exit path. I'm familiar enough with fire-code requirements to know that simply calling something a "fire hazard" doesn't make the explanation convincing. Parking deserves its own paragraph. The system constantly has problems. Gates malfunction, sections occasionally close, and the payment machines sometimes refuse to read credit cards. Getting stuck trying to leave a parking structure after a workout because the equipment doesn't work is ridiculous. But the biggest issue is the air conditioning. For a significant part of the summer, the AC was barely functioning. I'm writing this review while sitting inside the gym right now. There are probably around 30 people here, and the temperature easily feels above 80°F with almost no airflow. That is not an exaggeration. In a facility where people are exercising intensely, proper ventilation and temperature control should be one of the most basic operational requirements. None of these complaints are about the staff. I actually like the employees here, and that's part of the reason I continue coming. The problem appears to be maintenance, facility management, and/or corporate support. A premium gym should not routinely have broken machines, damaged lockers, unreliable parking equipment, steam-room failures, and most importantly inadequate air conditioning. Members are paying premium prices. The facility should be maintained to a premium standard. Management already seems to be "aware" of most of these problems. What we need at this point isn't another acknowledgment. We need them fixed.
