Started recently to come here for lunch regularly. Food has always seemed mediocre to me (too much…read moresugar, too much salt, not the highest quality in the world for my taste), but it was basically okay, the staff were nice, the mood is good, and the location is very convenient. Today, though, I ordered an udon soup for lunch, which was simply too salty and sweet to even eat. I was very hungry, but still couldn't manage more than 2 or 3 bites. I have almost never returned food in a restaurant in my life! But this time I mentioned something to the waiter and asked if I could have something else instead. He said that I could if I paid for both the uneaten dish and the new one. I didn't want to pay twice so had nothing else and let him take the inedible (to me) soup away uneaten. So today, over a 9 Euro bowl of Udon, this restaurant has lost all our future business. We paid 30 Euros for my husband's sushi, my uneaten soup, and some water, and will never return. This is a type of customer service approach that I simply do not understand.

The big standout on this place is that it has plenty of room, not like a majority of places I have gone to in Erlangen. I am sure this space is needed during the lunch time crowd. Hiro Sakao concentrates on Japanese and sushi dishes on their menu. In fact, their sushi menu is quite extensive. I decided on the Gyoza dumplings to start out with and the Ochi sushi roll for the main dish. I found both of them ok, nothing that I would rate as outstanding but definitely ok. It hit the spot for lunch. I found that after the order was taken, it was hard to get service to come back and attend to us. We had a particulary frustating time trying to secure our bill and get back on our way at the end. On top of that, if running your meal on a credit card, it seems a very slow process here as well, just to let you know (my colleague had a frustrating time with getting the transaction complete). Bottom line: An A-OK lunch spot, not outstanding but not bad either. There are a few speed bumps with service and getting transactions completed in timely manner but it serves the purpose for getting a lunchtime sushi fix.

The venue is smaller than the location in Erlangen, but has also a Terrace with some places outside. It seems to be less frequented than the place in Erlangen and so this could be my favourite one. It is located within a Startup-Center (Medical Valley) and therefore the parking lot should be large enough on weekends ;-) We entered for Lunch and all of us ordered a Bento Box with some warm food and also Sushi. We had three times the roasted Duck Teryaki, Salad and some Sushi, one time with Sake (Salmon) Teryaki and same setup with Sushi and Salad. This comes with Miso soup before and if you like, some japanese Dessert. The room is dark furnitured and very "schlicht" - so without the "kitsch" you would find in a f.i. Chinese restaurant. Anyhow. The waiter service was outstanding quick, friendly and.... we would say - nearly perfect. The complete service team was authentic asian - another plus (but I bet these guys were from Vietnam or so). The food was served quickly. It was utmost tasty and I would say you can order anything and all offers a wonderful visual and sensual experience. The Dessert - small pancakes with sweet beans as filling - could have been made different. That was the only thing I would not order again. But hey. Now the points (0-10 - whereas 10 is the best) Location (reachability): 6 - if you don´t own a car..... Oh well. Staff was super sweet. But the real surprise was the food! A feast for the eyes! Sushi platters come with bonsai trees, gyoza came with dry ice fog. The duck was the crunchiest ever had! And it stayed that way! We were all over the moon! And the prices were more than reasonable. 4 adults, full entrees with beverages for €75 plus tip. Needless to say, I'll be back and I recommend this place highly!

As starters both of us ordered spring rolls which were bigger than we expected and really delicious in spite of their different preparation (see pictures!). We shared a big plate for two with some nigiri and makis. The selection was large and delicious! Although there were many people in the restaurant, it was not loud. The food came shortly after our order without long waiting periods. I was really happy to find this place and will now come by more often! :)

The food again took another 30 minutes - although it was a week day. This is definitely a reason to lower my rating, because the place was not super crowded that day. Food: The food is delicious, as you can also see on the pictures. However, it is a little pricy - the makis I ordered were 15 € for 6 pieces. But were they extraordinary? Not really... There are other places in Erlangen or Nuremberg where I get similar quality but at a lower price (Hiro Sakao or Sushi Glas for example...). Overall it was an okay stay every time I went (about 4-5 times already) but I never got past that "okay"-feeling...
