This is my goto Mexican restaurant!! The food and service is absolutely top tier, but what I love about this place is the family oriented staff/owners! I have watched generation after generation step into operational control. Wonderful to witness... Highly recommend...

We recently rented a house in Sparta NC thru Vrbo. Naturally, part of my planning for this trip, involved a deep dive into the locally owned restaurants because our traveling rule is NO CHAINS! So here's a side note about locally owned restaurants:: I used to think that if a restaurant didn't have a website, they weren't serious about it. I've since learned that I'm an idiot. Most of the places only had a FB page with pictures of the menu. I decided that maybe no website means they are so busy serving great food, they don't have time to create and manage a website. I'd rather have great food! I had read that Mis Arados is family owned and is one of the top rated Mexican restaurants in NC. We can vouch for that claim! On our way to the cabin we called in an order for pick up. We got 2 jumbo ground beef burritos, and added cheese sauce because if it's not swimming in cheese, is it even Mexican food? We reheated when the time came and we were blown away. They actually seasoned the ground beef and it made a huge difference! They included a bag of tortilla chips and really fresh salsa. I'm sorry there's no pictures of the burritos but trust me when I say we wolfed them down. Every. Single. Morsel. These were only $7.50 each + $2.99 for cheese dip. We picked up from them again and tried two of their specialty items. Hubs got the Sparta Special and I got the Jaliciense Especial. I wrote this down phonetically (holly-see-N-say) after I made Siri speak it. Hopefully Siri didn't make a fool of me because she can be a little b*#&@y. Anyway, we ate on these meals twice each because each dish felt like it weighed 5 lbs. I do have pictures of these. I'm telling you, I love Mexican food around the Triad but this food was next level. The SS had steak, chicken breast, topped with chorizo, onion and Chile toreado, served with soft tortillas, rice and beans. The JE had chicken, shrimp, onions, mushrooms and chorizo, served with soft tortillas, rice and beans. We will definitely go there again, the staff was very gracious and appreciated our return.

Fresh chips, cheese dip and ice cold pitchers can't be beat. The Don Guillermo Special is delicious- a generous helping of grilled shrimp paired with grilled veggies and rice covered in a yummy garlic sauce. There is sometimes a bit of a wait as the restaurant space is small but the food is consistently good. This is one of our weeknight faves.

Consistently good food from local owners. Comfortable atmosphere. Center of town. Great for to-go orders, too!

As always, their food is awesome. The salsa is made fresh daily and is some of the best I've ever had.

Sorry to read some of the negative reviews; my wife's and my experience was nothing but positive…read more We visited Galax for a week of relaxation and (my) not having to cook, so we ate out daily. This place was great. Service was fast, friendly, and very considerate of seating, how the meal was, etc. Simply can't give a better rating to the service. It was fairly early evening (or late afternoon), so no crowd to speak of, but the place was clean, comfortable temperature, and again, no negatives. Food itself was just fine. I've a great Mexican restaurant in my town, and this one is on par, probably a bit more 'American' Mexican, but some folks just can't stand the heat, so I'm sure Tiaquepaque has learned what it's community can tolerate and prefers. I had simple pork tacos, which were excellent; usual (good) beans and rice on the side. My wife had an enchilada plate which was also fine; came with a large plate of guac, salad greens, and I believe rice. The chips were great, salsa was good - and I spiced it up to our level with one of the hot sauces that were on the table. Honestly, it was one of the best meals we had in Galax. Will certainly eat here again when we visit Galax in the future, and that's a pretty sure thing too.

I have wanted to try this place for years. The interior needs updating but the food and excellent…read more The salsa they serve upon arrival is a bit bland The nacho supreme was very good and the Bahama Mamas were perfect. The enchiladas were also tasty. Service is very good.

Plaza Del Sol is in a strip mall/shopping center, and it's fairly unassuming from the outside…read more Inside is full of vibrant colors and murals. The service was quick and so chatty. There was always someone within three paces of our table, and the food came out so quickly. Chips, salsa and bean dip showed up (all warm and tasty). We ordered waters, tea, and a Dos Equis ambar and then took a look at the menu. As is usual with a Mexican restaurant, there are so, so many options. This menu had many of the regular options that people are familiar with, but there were a lot of other choices as well. I usually try to order something unique to the restaurant if I can. My only disappointment was I didn't see tamales or chile rellenos as an option. In the end I asked the waiter what he thought was the best dish, and then I ordered that. Unfortunately, I don't know what the "name" of it was on the menu. It was a half rack of baby-back ribs on a salad bed with a red sauce over top. The sauce was not like an enchilada or mole. I would say it was more akin to a thin salsa. The ribs were slow cooked and so tender. They tasted nothing like traditional american ribs but were really good. My dish came with beans and spanish rice. The beans were typical, kinda soupy with cheese on top. Nothing "extra" in either direction. The rice was pale, but the flavor was top notch. My wife ordered a fajita plate which had a bit of everything on it, steak, shrimp, chicken, etc. Her meal came with beans and a typical mexican salad. The fajita filling was excellent! Both meals came with hot tortillas to aid in the scooping and general enjoyment. I would definitely come back to this place.

Food was outstanding and not Tex-Mex, authentic Mexican food. What a pleasant surprise while…read moretraveling through.
