Great place, even better people. I love the apartment I…read morelive in. And every winter, I love the attached garage even more! But what sold me was the people. Even though I am eligible to live in a 55+ community I don't want to. I want to have neighbors with kids, young and old. I love to chat with people of all ages out walking their dogs. Smiles and waves from from the people you pass is the norm here. The office & maintenance staff take the best care of you possible. Every interaction begins with a broad genuine smile from them and an honest attempt to meet my requests. Sure they have rules to follow, but that keeps chaos at bay and creates the lovely community we have here at Verdana of Howell. Come join us and make it even better. Ps. If you are grump, you will hate this place. I'm sure you can find a place you'll be better suited.

Avoid Verdana Howell Like the Plague. This property was originally managed by a very competent and…read moreexperienced property manager. A little over a year ago the property management changed and the new manager is nothing more than incompetent, rude, racist and bias. Before I even begin you should see how all other reviews on other sites have been removed and no recent reviews exist because of the horrible ratings since the new manager took office. The new manager at one point stole my garbage can because it was left out for more than 2 days neatly stacked near my garage door. When approached she proceed to tell me how the garbage can belonged to the management company. When confronted with that statement and lease terms she claimed it belonged to me and was left in a common area. Some other eye openers under the new manager is her bias towards good tenants. Steal my garbage can but she cant enforce toys and coolers left outside. Not to mention that there is dog feces through out the neighborhood. When confronted on the issue I was told that they were taking care of it and fining people using a DNA testing service. When asked how they were testing it when its still sitting in the grass weeks later. Well you can figure out the answer and look on her face. The bias continues. The landlord who lives on-site and works without handicap utilizes a family members handicap placard to utilize handicap spot right next to her apartment building. Additionally since they have an additional car she took it upon herself to create her own reserved spot so she doesn't have to find a spot like other paying tenants. Oh did I forget to mention she has a garage and driveway too? Now it gets even better. She will harass tenants that she dislikes or anyone that challenges her. For example I had an issue with a tenant that was smoking on the deck which prevented me from using my windows and balcony. What did she do? Nothing. I had to begin a lawsuit against my neighbor and the management company. What do they tell me? I'm correct she's violating the lease but there is nothing they can do. In the meantime the neighborhood continues to become nothing like the "Luxury Lifestyle" they claim to provide. Tenants violate the lease by hanging laundry out side, even one neighbor has had a red cooler sitting outside for over 2 months with no action from the landlord. Whats more while there are rules about glass bottles on the pool deck and visitors having to pay the landlord takes no action. Meanwhile while my mother came to visit and simply sat with me on the pool deck for less than half an hour she checked the cameras and instead of confronting me and asking me to purchase a pool pass kindly. She used the lifeguard to come over and tell me "that one of you must leave or purchase a guest pass." This was beyond the scope of the lifeguards job and completely immature and unprofessional of a property manager. I wish I could say that this was the end of my long review however this gets even more controversial when the property manager takes it upon herself to spew her personal opinions about creed, race, sexual orientation or feminism on social media related to the property which has been documented to the point that she has since made her social media accounts private. Seems to me she doesn't read the news to the likes of Travis K, or Justine S. Now the best for last. The state of New Jersey requires licensing of all property manages that show and lease any rental property in New Jersey. To date since her assistant quit because of the amount of potential lawsuits. She has continued to manage the property, show residences without any realtor license, salesperson, broker/salesperson. For any critics please feel free to check the NJDOBI database yourself. This is a property to avoid until the current manager a relieved of her duty and the management company understands that not only is she a liability but the amount of people compiling information to file a lawsuit behooves them to remove her from managing the property.

Michelle was always really kind to us and very helpful whenever we had issues. there is no such thing as perfect and we did have a couple of ceiling leaks being on the top floor, which, is to be expected. Michelle, Jeannine, & the maintenance team were always wonderful whenever we had issues. replied to us right away and were able to resolve things almost immediately. 3. AFFORDABLE! i cannot stress this enough. you get everything you would living in a luxury complex but at a fraction of the price 4.plenty of amenities within the apartment like washer/dryer, dishwasher, hardwood floors, etc. 5. pet friendly! so many cute doggies to play with :) 6. park & lake right across the street! 7. the parking lot is always shoveled during snow storms!!!!! THANK YOU! Cons: 1. the train. obviously nothing that the staff can do about this one, but just something to keep in mind. the train does usually come around 10pm. it's really loud and will cause everything in your apartment to shake a little. we could literally see the debris falling from our ceiling because we had wooden planks on the top floor. it only lasts a few seconds, but it is pretty scary for pets and small children. manageable but i wish they were more explicit about this. when we first toured, we asked if the train would be an issue and they told us the train only comes during the middle of the day when people are at work so we would most likely never be bothered by it. this was very much so not true lol. 2. the pool situation. the pool is SO nice, but it's not particularly well maintained. the lifeguards are very young and don't do a great job of cleaning the pool out. you'll also find that the pool is packed every weekend, usually because residents are bringing a ton of family members and guests. I'm pretty sure there are people from the neighboring towns who just come to use the pool. not a big deal, but it can get pretty messy during the summers. 3. this may not be a con for some people but, it's not an ideal location if you enjoy eating out or doing things at night. getting good food is usually a minimum 15+ minute drive. there are no nice nearby bars. there are some decent food places pretty close by, but overall, not much to do in the area and you do have to drive a bit to reach main highways and roads. but, if you are looking for a more quiet, secluded apartment, this is definitely the place.

My fiancé & I lived here for about a year & a half. We moved in when it was brand new construction…read more It used to be a factory building years ago. We actually watched our apartment being built which was really cool. We had an OKAY experience. To let people in the building, a guest types in your apartment number & it calls the phone number you used to set it up. For example- my fiancé & I both lived there. He was away on business & I had my parents stop by. When they came, the call went to his phone while he was out of the country & there was nothing we could do about it. He just had to let them in. The pool rules are SO WEIRD. You have bands for entry but can't have guests. Hours are strange. No music allowed. Basically no fun allowed lol There is storage underneath the building but the amount of space you get is ridiculous. Don't bother try to store your Christmas tree down there because it won't fit. You can store your bike though, it kind of just hangs on the walls. There are carts available for residents to use to bring things to & from your apartment. There are only 3/4 for 2 entrances & you're supposed to bring them down back to the door when you're done but no one ever does. Imagine going to the grocery store, coming home to get a cart & there are none, so you grab as many as you can, get all the way up to your door & see a cart someone left in the hallway- ANNOYING. People do that all the time. When you get the keys you get an actual key & a fob. The fob is what you scan in order to get into the building, you use the key to unlock & lock your door. They also give you ONE key for the mailbox. Washer & dryer in unit- HATED both. The dryer always stopped when it shouldn't have. We got the Kodiak apartment design, which we liked because there was a little nook which we thought would be perfect for a sectional couch. We were told that the nook runs through the entire building because that's where the old factory's elevator was- pretty cool! The bedroom closet we had was sad. It was barely a closet. We had zero space for our clothes. The #1 reason we couldn't stay there, we outgrew it before we even moved in. VERY nice game room & community area on the first floor near the lobby. That's where we had our housewarming party- we had 70 people come!!! I doubt they let anyone have parties there after that LOL FYI The building is along train tracks & the trains are LOUD & sometimes run in the middle of the night & early morning.

And if you leave a message, they absolutely will NOT return it. Red Flag #2: When we have maintenance issues they don't return our call, they just send someone (maybe) without notice. Red Flag #3: A light post outside our door fell over during an ice storm in February. It had wires sticking out of it, and was not removed for four months. FOUR. MONTHS. Red Flag #4: Snow removal is awful. It took several days for them to send someone over to shovel the sidewalks after a storm the entire Northeast knew was coming. Red Flag #5: This one is the worst. It takes them five to seven days to process rent payments. We accidentally mistyped our new bank account number and it took them EIGHT DAYS to notify us that the payment didn't go through. It seemed normal at first since it always takes them forever to process the payments, but the next thing we know we have an eviction notice and late fees. And now, STILL no one will call us back. We have left voicemails for the regional manager and the complex manager and neither of them have returned our calls. Other things to note: 1. While there is a dryer in the unit, it's very small and takes two hours to dry a small load. Plus, it blows the air out into the apartment rather than outside like a normal one, so the bathroom gets all steamy and moldy. Had to put a fan in there. 2. No extra storage space. 3. Kitchen has hardly any counter space. 4. The heater and AC are very loud. It sounds like a DC-9 taking off. Too bad we didn't have much time or options to search for an apartment in this area, as we moved here for a new job! Definitely would not have selected this place if I had known. BEWARE.
