The surprise for me was the lasagna which was different from the standard form you get in aus. It was served in almost a small clay pot type dish. The sheets of pasta were served among a delicious sauce in a much higher ratio. It was truly delicious. It is a restaurant not a takeaway so you pay a little more but the food is very good. Staff were fine, attentive and pleasant. Pizza chef even performed at the bequest of my uncle twirling some dough in the air.

The thing is that I found that their pizzas were actually pretty pricey, and they were also not as stiff as the regular pizzas that I tend to get, which honestly was a little disappointing. Look, it wasn't a bad place, and the pizza was nice. Also, the service was good, it was just a little over priced, and the pizzas not quite the style that I like.

There were some people in the rear outside area smoking, which drifted in through the open door. I actually smelt this out the front before we went in, but assumed it wasn't from the restaurant. Something to fix, I'd suggest. Anyway, the service and food were great. We both had pizzas; my girlfriend had a gluten-free base, which was actually Good! (I could've enjoyed one, and I usually hate that GF stuff). Not super-cheap, but pretty normal prices. Waitress was lovely. Anyway, minus smoke, I would come here again for late night eats.

A decor of mismatched plates, old lino covered tables and mix and match chairs and tables in a church feeling type venue somehow works perfectly for this place. The only thing missing from the decor? A piano accordion playing Italian in the corner. This place serves up wood oven cooked everything. From home made sausage (literally a pig is brought in every week and made into the good stuff for the week), simply seasoned ribs and of course pizza. The food is made Calabrese style, in light of the owner Peter's heritage (also owner of Zucca at the Bay). It is for that reason everything here feels like it has been made with passion, romance, amoré and a special kind of moorish Italian spice. Even more impressive is the gluten free pizza option here. No more feeling like you're eating cardboard, nor feeling bloated and heavy after a meal. Our gluten eating friends were not savvy enough to pick the difference! The wine list is do die for and so is the dreamy "Wine Guy" somliers who come to your table and ask you in a French (apparently the two countries are friends now) accent what they can get you to drink. Swoon! The only down side with this place... It's only open for lunch on weekdays and dinner on Friday nights. They just want to leave you wanting more I think!

Bases are crisp, hand made offerings. The star on the menu is probably the garlic prawn pizza, we've had it a few times, shared with some friends, and it's been a winner each time. Deliveries are available but I've always gone in for a pickup - definitely worth calling in advance as they can have quite long waiting times. I've tried their ribs, and pasta - the pizza is definitely my choice here - they're not bad for the other stuff, but I've had way better, too. P.S. They have on site parking, but it can get busy enough at peak hours that you may have to do the block to get a spot. There's some seats inside, but it's not really the kind of place you'll dine in.

Their garden salad is delicious, with plenty of dressing, which is a major plus--most other places just seem to scare the salad with dressing, so you can barely taste it. The ciabata garlic bread is also some of the best I've ever had, hot, crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and tasty. The pizzas are good too, and you can mix and match, make up your own, and customize as you see fit. They have a good range of desserts, their range of gelati which is locally made is delicious, especially the dark chocolate one!

As a small restaurant, you walk in to the middle of the kitchen as you enter the restaurant. I have sat upstairs and downstairs, the staff were lovely and attentive. Their pizza dough is soft and their toppings are of good quality. They have a range of pizzas including one that has potato and Gorgonzola along with your typical Italian style toppings. The gnocchi is amazing as it is so soft and is baked in Gorgonzola. I highly recommend it. It is incredibly soft and tastes like you are eating a cloud (so heavenly). I was drawn to dine in Est due to the massive amount of Yelpy love in reviews. You know that this is a good destination when all the Yelpers can not stop raving about a restaurant. Est is simple, they offer a range of simple pizzas that are executed well. I think sometimes other pizza places try a little too hard to be experimental with toppings and flavours. But really, a good pizza comes down to quality of base and sauce. The toppings are like a side dish. The base here is cooked to perfection, not too thick and holds form when held up to eat. The sauce is flavoursome and too not heavy. We ordered a side salad to go with our pizza. It was a green leafy salad drizzled with a tasty dressing and grated cheese. A perfect pair to our meal so we did not feel to naughty about eating pizza. But, wait! You don't have to feel too naughty about eating pizza at Est, the pizzas are quite light and are not dripping with oil. I left feeling full and not exhausted from fat. I should also mention that they cook their pizzas in a wood oven. It is set up inside the shop and you can notice the difference in flavour with the pizza. If you are in town and you have a pizza craving in the East End, Est if your destination!
