Okay, so now the logistics are out of the way - the restaurant has been open for a few months but the dining area appears quite dated. The service was friendly and welcoming, we ordered an item on the menu though which was unavailable and we were advised we could only order from the left column of the menu. Turns out their menu had items that can only be ordered on specific days = different. I ordered the chicken kebab roll - the bread of the roll was more of a naan bread, really thick and was ultimately too much bread for the amount of meet and salad in the roll (I had to unwrap most of the roll to take a photo of it to even see the filling). My husband had the lamb kebab with rice, which was lamb mince as opposed to the "non-minced" charcoal lamb (cannot for the life of me think of how else to word that) we have had from other Afghan restaurants. I really wish I could write a more positive review, but the truth is I am unlikely to go back here which is a shame because the owners seemed really nice.

It does feel a little sterile and non-homely but I do like the slight modernish interior of black vinyl and chrome seats and the sexy chandeliers with red fabric light fittings surrounding them. They even have some new flat screen tvs around the place and I think even LED screens for what will be the menu above the counter?? (Don't quote me on that last bit!) Bbq chicken with rice and salad. You can't knock that back for $10. It's a decent serving size as well. Some parts of the chicken were a little dry but it still tasted delicious! Mantu dumplings were pretty good. However since having tasted Parwana's, there is no comparison. Parwana's dumplings with that lamb sauce...zomg! Here the dumplings were nice enough but the lentils in the sauce were slightly undercooked. The staff were friendly and smiling and had a little chat about the move from South Rd to here. Hoping they do well at the new premises. If you are in the area and looking for a good and tasty cheap lunch, then this is your place! Bare in mind the wait times for meals to come out, you can't rush delicious charcoaled meats!

We soon came to realise the servings are very generous and really good value for money. We had a combination of 3 skewers - lamb mince, lamb, chicken with afghan flatbread and salad. Also we ordered a half chargrilled chicken with rice and salad as well as some lamb kofta curry. The meats had great flavour and have obviously been marinated for a long time. It was tender and still moist eith a lovely charcoal flavour. The dishes came with a little dish of chilli saice and a yoghurt like sauce. Great accompaniments for the meats. When you get a dish with rice it's not just plain steam rice. It's a lighter palaw of oiled rice with sultanas and carrots. The lamb kofta curry came with a chickpea curry sauce which was great for dipping our bread in. We were absolutely full up to the neck, next time we will be mindful of the serving sizes!!

I can't believe that in this day and age, people are this biased. But I would certainly never eat there, even if they would seat us.
