Being a once-a-month subscriber, I get to enjoy this blissful escape from reality every four weeks or so. I received The Benchmark service and I would describe it as the last word in a luxury haircut experience. First Stephany asked me how I like my hair done, then she suggested some options for styling it that I had not considered before. I quite liked her suggestions and took them. She was gentle but firm while she cut my difficult, curly hair and trimmed my beard, and I could tell she was taking her time to do the best possible job. After the trim part, she took me to a quiet back salon room where she dipped my hands in paraffin wax, then began the scalp massage and hot towel treatment. I had never experienced a paraffin-wax dip and the wax felt strange at first, but as a chef and frequent hand-washer I don't think my hands have been hydrated like that in years. The treatment that followed included a face massage, a hot towel wrapped around my face, a pleasant eucalyptus aromatherapy, a shampooing and a scalp massage, then she removed the wax from my hands and gave me a hand massage. I am happy to say that Stephany brought the same careful attention to detail to each of the services, and was both responsive and informative when it came to the styling that followed. She even helped me understand what I have so far been doing wrong in caring for my beard and made some wonderful suggestions to improve my beard's health! In summary, I do not believe I have experienced relaxation quite like I did at The Boardroom, and would recommend Stephany to anyone who might be interested in elevating a haircut experience. She was knowledgeable, professional, great at small talk, and I will be visiting again soon to request her services!

When I got in I checked in for my appointment and was seated immediately. My barber shared his name, buti missed it. I explained what I wanted (bald up to line all around). I appreciated the foil shaver to get it as close to bald as possible. The facial and hot towels were really nice. When I had them on, my barber walked away without saying anything so I assume that was normal. The massage part? He had a hand held massager which was nice, but kinda short. No face massage though which by the name of the service I expected. I tried to look online for any details of exactly what each service covered, but could not find anything. They had two beard trims, one regular, and the other deluxe, but I didn't get it since I couldn't find the difference. I also enjoyed the straight razor line up of the beard and neck. It was very thorough and he did a great job. The price though? As someone who would like to get a haircut monthly, this was too rich for me. Not a great experience…read more I called ahead and asked if I needed an appointment. The person on the phone told me they weren't busy and that I could just come in. When I arrived there was only one person waiting in the lobby, so I assumed it would be a quick wait. Instead, I sat there while a stylist finished with a client and walked out without acknowledging anyone in the lobby. The other person who had been waiting was taken back next, which made sense. But then another customer walked in and was taken immediately by a different stylist. Maybe he had an appointment, but it would have been helpful to know that before I drove down after being told to just come in. Then a pest control company came inside and started spraying behind the chairs and around the shop. The smell was strong and unpleasant. At that point I decided to leave before even getting my haircut. I drove to Floyd's across the street to since it didn't smell like pesticides and got my haircut there instead. We waited quite some time and I was starting to get nervous that my 6 year old wouldn't last much longer. I watch as each barber takes their time on each of their clients. There is clear pride in the styles they create and service they provide. I secretly hope my son's barber will be quick. Finally (when I say this, I mean it as a Hot Mess Mom with 2 kids, not an independent adult with a normal attention span), my son gets his turn. As he climbs into the chair the barber asks what I'd like done. I tell him anything that's quick and easy to maintain. Throughout the 30-ish minute hair cut my son wiggled. Played with the sheet cover thing. Asked questions. Itched his face. Played with the cut hair. But he also sat quiet. Saw how other men behave. And most importantly the stylist got wind that there isn't a male figure at home and instantly changed his demeanor towards my son. Postured himself as strong but safe person. A man that showed respect and patients. It was nice to see someone not only take pride in their work but also have great patients and gentleness with my kid. A kid that can be a challenge.
