Updating for Ocean's recent occurrence. We came in for a regular Bordatella shot and I informed the…read morevet that I noticed a little blood in her urine. They ran urine and blood tests as well as x-rays. Her urine and blood results came out normal so she may have just had an infection that went away. However, they noticed a metal bottle cap in her stomach! Ocean often eats random things off the ground but she wouldn't have eaten a bottle cap unless it was in some food! Regardless, they tried a method and thought she would be able to pass it in the next couple of days. Well, a whole week passed and it didn't. So, we took her back and they needed to surgically remove it. The procedure seemed to go smoothly. We picked her up at the end of the day and she was still out of it, but relieved to come home and was able to drink and eat. We gave her medications as prescribed. The incision was about 9 inches across Ocean's belly. We did our best to keep it covered, but she did scratch it a bit. At her follow up appointment, they removed the sutures and provided antibiotics and a solution to keep it clean. At her third follow up, they provided antibiotics and ointment for the redness, but she healed pretty well in a matter of weeks. They said going through the esophagus would have damaged it, so this was the best approach to getting the bottle cap out. As a souvenir, they gave us the cap in a ziplock bag and we could see that it was starting to rust. They were great about calling and checking up on her and they did an excellent job stitching her back up. They gave us an estimate range of the cost prior to the procedure and luckily, it was on the lower end, but still a dent in our wallets. Ocean was a champ through this healing process despite not knowing what had even happened to her! Thanks again to the team here for helping Ocean out!

Our regular vet initially gave antibiotics and medication, and he said if it happens again, we should take her to the hospital for more test as he was thinking there was something in her bladder like stones. When the symptoms returned a week later, we knew we had to take her to the hospital. Since our usual clinic doesn't offer urgent care, we searched and found this hospital on Google. They were able to see us the same day. The front desk staff was very kind and welcoming, and even though the place is currently remodeling, everything still felt organized and efficient. They performed an X-ray, blood test and urinalysis, found a bladder stone, and clearly explained the situation and treatment options. Because the stone was too large to pass naturally, surgery was recommended. They walked us through the procedure, provided a clear estimate, and scheduled surgery for the very next day. The entire visit took about 3 hours, and we felt our dog was in very good hands the whole time. She is now on the road to recovery, and we're so grateful for the care she received. We also appreciate that this hospital is closer to home -- we've definitely found our new vet. Thank you to the whole team for taking such good care of our girl.

Thank you for reaching out and listening to our concerns. I would like to sincerely thanks Ambassador and their sister location, All American Animal for showing compassion during our recent visit on 02/24/2026. We are long-time patients of this clinic and have always trusted the team with our dogs' care, which is why we continue to come here whenever our pets are not feeling well. We brought Kino in because he was experiencing excessive itchiness, redness, vomiting, and was clearly in discomfort. Despite the office being very busy, we truly appreciated the time that Dr. Meina took to see him and make sure he received the treatment he needed. From the moment we were brought in, he listened attentively as I explained Kino's symptoms and concerns. It meant so much to feel heard and understood, especially when your pet is clearly not feeling well and in distress. Dr. Meina took the time to thoroughly assess Kino's condition and explain the available treatment options, ensuring we felt comfortable and informed with the plan of care. His patience, professionalism, and compassion helped make an already stressful situation much easier for both us and our dog. I would also like to thank Marisol, the manager, who reached out after we addressed our concerns and helped refer us to their sister clinic's urgent care so that Kino could receive the care he needed as soon as possible. Despite some initial misunderstanding, the office took the time to listen to our concerns and worked with us to find a way to assist in getting Kino the care he needed. That level of communication and willingness to help truly made a difference. Veterinarians and their teams play such an important role in relieving pain, managing illness, and ensuring our pets are comfortable and safe. We love this clinic and appreciate the dedication the staff shows to their patients and families. Thank you again to Dr. Meina and Marisol for taking the time to listen, support us, and make sure Kino received the care he needed.

Every few months or so I notice she balloons up, strains, the inevitable sludge emerges, and I go "yep! Dr. Meina is insightful, kind, compassionate, and makes the entire process less stressful on the both of us. It also helps that Ambassador is affordable in our current economy. We're a fan through and through.

I called for an appointment and Isabella got me in right away. She was so pleasant on the phone. I met with Dr. Hope for an exam and consultation. Dr. Hope had a high level of professionalism that I had not received from my previous vet. They took x-rays and showed me exactly what the issue was with my cat. After a surgery and some recovery time my little girl is back to her playful and joyful self. Of note, my cat has been labeled "dangerous" and "difficult to handle" at our former vet's office. I was [shocked] when the staff at Lakewood Pet Vet told me she's a sweetheart and not difficult at all. This team truly cares about how they treat animals and do so with the utmost care! I will be bringing all my cats here moving forward.

He was taken in quickly and I was initially reassured, which helped in that moment. After that, most of the communication shifted toward costs, approvals, and payments rather than clear medical updates. I understand veterinary care is expensive and estimates are necessary. However, this experience felt far more transactional, especially in moments that required compassion. I paid about $517 for basic treatment (antibiotics, patient room fees, iv fluids, vaccines, cone, and fees), but no diagnostics were completed. I was quoted $1,000+ for x-rays. Feeling overwhelmed by staffs, I ultimately left and sought care elsewhere. At another clinic, my dog received imaging, was diagnosed with a broken rib and dental injury, and received full treatment for a much more affordable price. Beyond the cost, that clinic felt far more present and personal, and the experience itself felt reassuring and grounded rather than transactional. Thankfully, he is now safe and recovering. After posting my original review, the business publicly responded and asked me to reach out directly. I did so immediately, in good faith, hoping for clarification or resolution. I never received a response. That gap between public reply and private silence is part of why I'm sharing this. That, combined with the experience in person, is what disappointed me most -- not just the visit itself, but the lack of follow-through afterward. When a business responds publicly but doesn't continue that same level of communication privately, it raises concerns about sincerity and whether the response is about resolution or reputation.

I initially had heard good things about them, and they are very local (within walking distance), so I thought great, let's give them a try. Initially I felt comfortable coming here, but as time went on, I didn't even want to bring my dogs here for their vaccinations. As other posters have said, they often took my dogs back without me, then would come out with a whole list of things they needed to have done immediately. I had taken my girl in about a dry nose and really weird breathing, to which they said it was because of her teeth. After removing several teeth, the problem still wasn't resolved. For some reason I still haven't figured out, I continued to come to them. They gave a rabies vaccination to my older boy, and all of a sudden, after 11 years of getting a rabies vaccination, he had an allergic reaction. Initially they said he would be just fine, but when I insisted on taking him to their sister clinic (since this one closed for the evening), it was discovered he was having an allergic reaction and had to pump him full of all sorts of allergy meds. A couple of months later he was taken in for the rest of his vaccination needs. Instead of giving him his other vaccinations, they vaccinated him again with rabies. The clincher for me to finally change vets was when he had a complete tear of his CCL and meniscus. I initially took him to VCA since it was the day after Thanksgiving and no vet was open except for emergency care. After getting the diagnosis from VCA, I reached out to Primary Care as his regular vet to discuss surgery options. It took a few days for them to respond, and their response was "We don't do that surgery. Here's the number of the vet that does, you can call him directly." I was flabbergasted at the complete lack of support from them as the dog's primary veterinarian. At this point in time, I already had taken him to a different vet, and surgery was already in the process of being scheduled. Eventually I got a 3rd dog (yeah, I know I'm a glutton for punishment), and I found another local vet (you can probably guess, since it's in Bixby Knolls also) to start taking her to. Now the other two dogs have transitioned to the new vet, and no longer do I have fears about the care my dogs are receiving when I take them in.
