DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING THERE! I stopped by the minute clinic on a Sunday because I had a sore throat, swollen glands, sinus pain and an earache after battling a never ending cold for 10 days. A storm was predicted for Monday, so I knew I would not be able to see my doctor and thought the Minute Clinic would be a good option because they advertise that they treat the symptoms that I was experiencing. Upon arriving at their check-in area I encountered what appeared to be a nurse is a white medical type jacket and simply asked her how long the wait was. She rudely snapped at me and told me to sign in on the computer, and that there was no wait. I signed in and sat down and waited about 5 minutes when two other women in white jackets exited the room and said they would be with me shortly. After waiting 15 minutes, I was called in to be seen. (So much for the concept of a "minute" clinic!) The nurse practitioner introduced herself and sat down at her computer and asked me a gambit of questions while diligently typing my answers into the computer. The other gal, who I assume was a trainee checked my vitals, ears, nose and throat. The typist then looked into my throat. I was told I had fluid in my right ear, a red throat and swollen nasal passages based on the findings of the trainee. The typist then told me I should go to an Urgent Care facility to be seen by a doctor because there may be an underlying problem of me having a "Peritonsilar Abscess" or possible dental problems which would result in ear pain. I assured them my teeth were fine and questioned if a "Peritonsilar Abscess" would be treated with antibiotics and if so why couldn't she just prescribe an antibiotic such as a Z pack or something similar to treat my symptoms. She responded by telling me NO, that I needed to see a doctor and he would determine if I needed an antibiotic and stated that if it was in fact, a "Peritonsilar Abscess" he would maybe want to treat it differently. I paid and left, and upon arriving home read over the Minute Clinic Visit Summary sheet and realized that it was the computer which gave the diagnosis listing it as - I quote... "a concern for the "beginning" of a peritonsilar abscess or dental issue". i googled peritonsilar abscess since I have never heard of that illness, only to learn that it is similar to tonsillitis, and the symptoms were a high fever, etc. The computer even had the spelling incorrect for the attempted diagnosis. I clearly had no fever and can't believe I wasted my money going to nurse practitioner who relied on a computer to make my diagnosis. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY - IF YOU ARE SICK, GO TO A MEDICAL DOCTOR! I will be going to my regular family doctor for a recheck after the storm passes and strongly suspect that I will be treated for a common sinus infection. AGAIN, avoid going to the Springfield Minute Clinic at all costs. read more
