I got sick around Thanksgiving and it held on despite a course of antibotics. Here we are in…read moreJanuary and I can't seem to shake it. DOCS of North Haven is convenient to my office so I decided to make an appointment. The website had appointments available essentially immediately and it was easy to book online. I arrived early and was in an exam room ahead of schedule. To be fair, it was a Tuesday afternoon and it was quiet when I arrived. YMMV on busyness. Dr. Ramanath reviewed my complaints, did a physical exam (eyes, ears, lungs etc) and posed some careful questions. After a brief discussion, he gave me a diagnosis and was up front with what I should expect with the medicine prescribed. It was helpful for him to frame how effective he thought each would be and how I would know if they were working properly. Importantly, he confirmed that all could be taken together without worry. He did a great job developing rapport with me in the process. I chose DOCS because I had visited there 5 or 6 years ago and was treated similarly well. Reading the other reviews here it feels like we visited two completely different places. I'm sure that time of day, day of week and time of year will impact how busy DOCS or any other urgent care center will be. All I can do is share my experience. I'm sure that DOCS, like any other business would be stressed with a huge influx of customers in a short period of time. In any event, it was quick and easy and I left very satisfied. The gals at the front desk were pleasant and helpful. With signing up online, I did not have to fill out another form or repeat what I had already done.

I had an issue that needed to be looked at , not virtually but in person. Two attendants sat there…read more with no questioning as to the issue and I waited 45 minutes . I'm then told that it is a virtual visit. Wasted time . If I needed Virtual assistance I would have stayed home and done that from my couch. I had an issue that needed to be worked on not just talked about. I went to New Haven Yale Urgent care and saw an actual person who assessed my issue. If the two attendants would have done their job and said more than nothing , I could have explained and not wasted all our time. Perhapse that are trained to wait until you get to the room to tell you you have no actual visit but just a facetime doctor . Bad idea .

The nurses were…read morewonderful (most of them) the facility is clean and nice, however, trying to communicate with the doctor and get written notes about her progress was non existent! We could not get our questions answered in a timely manner and she should have received more extensive therapy but did not. They basically let her have a bed for a few weeks. They were not helpful in providing strategies for the family to use so all we could do was read the TBI manual and fend for ourselves. We were absolutely not happy with the results of her time there. They would not let her walk on her own so she was either in bed, a chair or wheelchair. My suggestion is that you have family there all day and night to support your loved one.

He had intensive…read moretherapies sprinkled throughout the day, including speech, all varieties of OT, outdoor therapy for walking a dog, and hours of in-house PT. His progress was excellent, and Gaylord's ability to reach out and get him every kind of rehabilitation he needed was unbelievable. Now, it's not easy. The patients must work, but thank god, Gaylord helps them work hard. We have been to lesser rehab programs where one hour of PT constituted the rehab for each day. They go to great lengths for their patients, and my husband was in fabulous shape, ready to take on the world once released.
