I got sick around Thanksgiving and it held on despite a course of antibotics. Here we are in January and I can't seem to shake it. DOCS of North Haven is convenient to my office so I decided to make an appointment. The website had appointments available essentially immediately and it was easy to book online. I arrived early and was in an exam room ahead of schedule. To be fair, it was a Tuesday afternoon and it was quiet when I arrived. YMMV on busyness. Dr. Ramanath reviewed my complaints, did a physical exam (eyes, ears, lungs etc) and posed some careful questions. After a brief discussion, he gave me a diagnosis and was up front with what I should expect with the medicine prescribed. It was helpful for him to frame how effective he thought each would be and how I would know if they were working properly. Importantly, he confirmed that all could be taken together without worry. He did a great job developing rapport with me in the process. I chose DOCS because I had visited there 5 or 6 years ago and was treated similarly well. Reading the other reviews here it feels like we visited two completely different places. I'm sure that time of day, day of week and time of year will impact how busy DOCS or any other urgent care center will be. All I can do is share my experience. I'm sure that DOCS, like any other business would be stressed with a huge influx of customers in a short period of time. In any event, it was quick and easy and I left very satisfied. The gals at the front desk were pleasant and helpful. With signing up online, I did not have to fill out another form or repeat what I had already done. read more

I had an issue that needed to be looked at , not virtually but in person. Two attendants sat there with no questioning as to the issue and I waited 45 minutes . I'm then told that it is a virtual visit. Wasted time . If I needed Virtual assistance I would have stayed home and done that from my couch. I had an issue that needed to be worked on not just talked about. I went to New Haven Yale Urgent care and saw an actual person who assessed my issue. If the two attendants would have done their job and said more than nothing , I could have explained and not wasted all our time. Perhapse that are trained to wait until you get to the room to tell you you have no actual visit but just a facetime doctor . Bad idea . read more

Should have looked at reviews before ever booking here. Made an appt. For myself, my child ended up sick so I called THE OFFICE and asked if we could do it as a telehealth. The worker from THE OFFICE who answered the phone is the one who changed my visit to a telehealth appt. Said it was absolutely fine bc I had been there before and it was just for a sinus infection. My appt time comes and goes, no call nothing. So I call. They rudely tell me that it can't be a telehealth visit even though the WORKER FROM THEIR OFFICE is the one who changed my appt. They put me on hold for kid you not 20 minutes. I have to call back multiple times just to get someone to answer to have the PA SHEREE RASCATI to have a huge attitude with me because her staff is incompetent. She argued with me and told me I can bring my sick child who's throwing up into the office if I want to be seen for myself. It has now been over a half hour past my appt. Time and I asked was anyone even going to call me if I didn't call and the answer was aparently not. Terrible. Called another urgent care right after and they have no problem with a telehealth visit for a sinus infection and got me an appt within 30 mins from when I called. read more

Have you ever been to a clinic that is so poorly managed, you wonder how it could be in business? That is DOCS Urgent Care of North Haven. This review is based on my experience at the North Haven location on Saturday, Jan 8, 2022 and Sunday, Jan 9, 2022. There are so many red flags, so please be cautious when making an appointment and coming here for any sort of medical ailment. I made an appointment for a COVID test the day before, spent time filling out paperwork, and downloaded a mobile app to ensure that I would be set for my appointment. On the day of my appointment, I sat in my car and checked in. With COVID restrictions, I wanted to avoid waiting inside and sat in my car waiting for them to call me back. I waited for a good 15 minutes and nobody ever called me. I even called, but nobody picks up the phone. I also used the online app messenger and it said I would get a response in two hours or less. I saw a huge line forming outside, so I decided to wait in line with others. Red flag #1: They don't have an online check-in system. Red flag #2: Nobody answers the phone. Red flag #3: The messenger on the website is pointless. After waiting in line for another 45 minutes, I was able to finally talk to someone who wanted me to fill out paperwork. I explained that I did all of the paperwork online and they couldn't see it. She was confused, so spent some time looking for it and then she found it. Red flag #4: They can't see your paperwork already done in advance. I then went to take my test and the person told me I would have my results in an hour, but plan on two hours. I never got my results. I called, emailed, and used the messenger on the website. Red flag #5: They never sent my results. I then drove all the way back the next morning to explain my results were missing. I waited in line again. The guy said that they forgot to upload them! I was shocked. He printed them and said they would upload them. Red flag #6: They forgot to upload my results. With so many red flags here, you can see the clinic is poorly managed. The employees were doing their best with what resources they had. Not a manager or doctor on-site, which really makes me wonder how this place operates. My experience is based on my personal visits. If it wasn't for me advocating for myself to get my results on my own, I am not sure I would have received them. Red flag #7: The mobile app still doesn't show my results. Advocate for yourself at this location. They have an email address on their check-in window, but I am not sure how often they check it. CALL BEFORE YOU GO TO SEE IF THERE IS EVEN A PROVIDER THERE. Arrived for a simple strep test and was informed there was no provider. Everything is virtual. You would think a doctor's office would have doctors. The girls working in the office said they could swab my throat then have a provider call me with the results and would send a prescription if I needed one. Fine. I waited for a call all day and did not receive one. I called the next day when they opened at 8 a.m. to check up on the status of my strep test and was informed, "We weren't actually authorized to test you. You'll have to come back and do it again." But there was STILL NO PROVIDER and they didn't know if one would show up. They also seemed to have no intention of telling me this. I would have been waiting to hear from someone forever!! SO WHY ARE YOU EVEN OPEN? I called other DOCS clinics in the area and they had no actual providers either. The East Haven office said I would have to go to Orange. I ended up at the CVS Washington Ave. Minute Clinic in North Haven. They were great. Immediate test to confirm I had strep throat and picked up a prescription at the same time. My husband hurt his hand at work was sent there and was told there were no doctors on site. Was told he would have to have a video visit and they will have to send them somewhere else to have an x-ray. What a joke How can you have an urgent care with no doctors on site... would not recommend going. read more

I would come here again if I knew exactly what I needed. I arrived about an hour before it closed on a weekday for a bad reaction to bug bites. There were two other parties who arrived about the same time I did. I was a little thrown off when I was asked in the wide-open why I was here. At other urgent care centers, I have had the opportunity to write it down on a piece of paper for privacy. I saw Dr. Manchandani, who was not the warmest doctor, but I think he could tell I already knew what my issue was and that I was a pretty straightforward patient. He didn't bat an eye when I had additional questions for him. The exam room was clean, but you could tell it was a little worn. Overall, it took me just over an hour to get in and get out. After trying to get an appointment with my doctor , I thought I would try this place. I got there at 2PM in the afternoon and I did not have to wait very long. I had to fill out some initial paper work, seeing this was my first visit. The people at the desk were very helpful and made it easy. A couple of minutes later, I went into the examining room. They tested me for the flu and I tested positive. They called my pharmacy with a prescription and explained what I needed to do. I was through the whole process in less than 45 minutes. I can't say enough about how professional and helpfully they were. Therefore if you are looking to see a doctor without an appointment, this is the place to go. read more

One of the worst chains you could possibly go to. Went there when they were set to close in an hour and a half, with my child who was having an allergic reaction. Staff decided to prioritize physicals and over a child having a reaction. They stated there was a 2-hour wait, when there was only one person in the waiting room. They were also very vocally excited when myself and others left since they "wanted to leave at 6". The doctors are not even in the building to true patient care. Everything is virtual, and the MA's don't want to do anything work related. Stay away from this place if you can. read more

The last place you want to spend you evening after work is a doctors office. However from the moment Briana at the front desk answered the phone she was very pleasant. She let me know what would happened next and why I was waiting which resets the mental wait times for a patient or customer each time. Christine was also very nice as well. A simple smile (and yes you can tell even with the mask) goes a long way! Facility looks very clean and bright which is also a plus. I wasn't able to see my doctor with out a COVID test, so I came to the urgent care in North Haven and they immediately took me in. They did not have a provider on site, but I was evaluated by one of their virtual doctors. The provider on the tablet had a device where they could listen to my heart and lungs, and look into my ears. It was pretty cool. The staff were still able to swab me for testing, and come to find out I had the flu! The doctor called me and prescribed me meds and set me up with a follow up appointment. Saved me an extra visit at my doctors office. I will be returning again. Thank you DOCS! read more

I'm 64 and I know when I have wheezing versus a cough that needs mucinex . After a terrible experience with another urgent care center in New Haven I came here. Lexus at the reception desk was very warm, positive and helpful! She warned me that the wait could be up to two hours and mentioned it was because there was only one nurse practitioner in the building. I ended up waiting approximately an hour in the waiting room (had wifi so I could do my work, clean, chairs were spaced out) and was then called to the exam room. During my exam, Lexus was professional and even explained the science behind different parts of the exam. I waited about 20 more minutes to actually get seen by the nurse practitioner but it was very quick and efficient. I was prescribed what I needed very quickly and sent on my way. Went in this afternoon around noon for sore throat which I thought could be strep. Took a culture and it was negative but was still prescribed antibiotics as precaution. 5 1/2 hours later and the prescription still was not called in. I called three times during that time, and they kept saying they would send it. When I went to my pharmacist they never received it. $75 co-pay and half-assed service. Front desk showed up exactly when opened then complained it was too early to see people...anyone in health care knows people get sick at all times of the day. After 30 mins of being open the doctor still did t come in where front desk made a comment how he is always late...how is that acceptable? I get it people run behind but it shouldn't be the normal. 5 people waiting to be seen before the doctor even showed up...now we know why they run behind all the time. Also they only ever have ONE doctor on at a time. After 40 mins waiting the front desk gets a call saying doctor wont be in for about 45 mins to an hr due to car troubles. Why did it take him 40 mins to tell his front desk staff he was running that behind with car issues. Super frustrated but at least I dont have to go back there again. *Great for rapid COVID testing in 30min I'm from New Jersey and traveled to CT during the weekend for a memorial. However, as soon I left, I felt symptoms that were very similar to a bad sinus infection but was too similar to COVID. A the night I finally arrived in CT, I was sleepless, hot with a moderate fever, and sometimes chilly. I had a wet cough (not dry like COVID cough) and I had total body soreness. So my family member was extremely concerned because she is hosting the memorial which will have some elderly attendees (masks on) and she was concerned I might have already spread it. So I'm looking around for literally any urgent care that does rapid testing Saturday morning. I tried PhysicianOne but they were rude, short and blew us off. Then I found this place (because the other DOCS location was closed.) We took a shot and drove straight there, my father and I. To our surprise, you could get a rapid test right there and now. They accepted my insurance (Medicare) so I didn't pay for anything. The clerks were SO friendly and super helpful, rather than act like we are carrying the plague. Filled out some simple paperwork and took nasal swabs. We killed time in the truck, and 30 minutes later we walk in and left with negative COVID results, what a relief! However - the staff were so helpful and took care of us without any complaint, even if we might have seemed too "cautious" about having contracted COVID (I was around some members who were exposed in the past though, it is serious). I would recommend this location for rapid or regular COVID testing. read more

absolute joke.. came in on a Saturday (foxon Boulevard location ) because i was experiencing chest pains And wanted to see a doctor/cert.nurse. but not here oo no they wanna sit you down with an iPad and call it a "tela communication appointment" why?? because there's not a single nurse or doctor in the building.. I could have video chatted a doctor from home. but here you get to sit n there waiting room, video chat with a nurse somewhere out there in the universe explain your problems and they will simply throw some type of medication your way without ANY type of examination/testing or even taking vital signs.. this place is an absolute fraud and should be CORRECTED to resemble some type of real clinic or shut this cash grab down ASAP read more

I was at this Docs location for a rapid Covid test . While I had to wait a few hours I find that this is the new norm for many services since Covid. The front desk staff completed my paperwork and I returned to my car then was called in for my test. The woman that did my test was gentle and efficient and I felt proper Protocols were followed.I waited in another room for my results which were given to me by the doctor. I found the entire staff to be kind and knowledgeable and the facility was clean . I would return here if needed. read more

I Arrived last night 9/27/2020 from Florida and went at 8:20am For A COVID 19 test as instructed by the state. When I arrived i was made to wait in line outside for 30 min to then go inside to register. I was asked to register on an iPad that had not been wiped down or sanitized after the previous people used it. They make you wait in close quarters with other patients , not adhering to social distancing. Then had me wait 2.5 hours to see me then they made me wait another 30 min for results. That was when it became to much, they asked me to wait for a Dr. to consult and then put me in an exam room. The room had not been cleaned from previous patient, there was band aid wrappers on counter and the tissue paper was not replaced from the bed/exam table. On the shelf on exam table there still was the swab they used to wipe before sticking a needle in someone. (I have pictures.)Needless to say i would not wait in that room so i waited in the hall, when the Dr. approached i told him about this and showed him what i was talking about and he proceeded to ask me to go back in dirty room and i refused and walked out. This place will increase infection rates not reduce them. The facility is disgusting and the process is unsafe. Even the people working there were complaining. Please have someone go inspect this process and facility it could end up a hot spot! read more

Why is it called DOCS? Where are the doctors? I was under the impression that I would be seeing a medical doctor for a sore throat, burning tongue, and ear pain. I was expecting that someone would feel my lymph nodes and take a good look at the affected areas. While the in-person office staff was lovely, the rest of the experience was dreadful and dangerous. I was led into a room and a monitor was turned on. A nurse-practitioner came on screen and had a technician who was in the room with me use a device to video my mouth. The NP was a bit disheveled and wasn't wearing her headset properly and kept telling me that she couldn't hear what I was saying. Impossible to communicate. There was no tongue depressor so that they could not assist in getting a good view of my oral cavity. The NP ordered strep tests and I asked for COVD testing, which required special permission. My strep tests came back negative (as did COVID, RSV, and flu---not sure why the latter two were done as I had no symptoms of those illnesses) yet I received a call from CVS 4 days later indicating that an antibiotic prescription was ready for pick-up. As any educated person knows, one does not take an antibiotic for my symptoms unless the infection is bacterial. For that matter, taking antibiotics unnecessarily carries risks, not only in the short term but in the long run. I am thinking that the medical board needs to regulate these clinics, better. read more

They also could not accommodate me even though they are a chain and I had made an appointment with another location who couldn't do the service you would think they'd try to help. Honor the appointment or rush me through a little or at least say sorry. The whole organization is extremely disorganized. I can't review the actual health care because I couldn't get to the point of receiving any. As far as front of clinic staff they were unhelpful and smug just kept repeating " we have our own clients" there was one person in there and an hour and a half wait when it was their website that made the mistake. The tech was nice, but had to swab my throat twice because she didn't get enough of a culture the first time. Got an antibiotic and was told to come back for a follow-up. My appointment was this morning at 8:30. I got there at 8:20, checked in, and was the only one in the waiting room the entire time I was there. There were at least 5 staff members sitting around the front desk chatting, and no one bothered to check in, tell me the doctor was running late or whatever reason they had for me not getting in at 8:30. Hurt my leg a couple of days ago and went to the East Haven location to get it checked out. I walked in and they said they had no doctor so I had to go to the North Haven location. Go to NH and they say " it's going to be an hour wait, come back in an hour". I fuck around for an hour, come back, get put in a room where I am waiting for another 45+ minutes. I finally got up and walked out. All the lady at the front desk said was "ok sorry". I literally wasted three hours for nothing. Only to just get up and go to a different urgent care center. Great to be able to get a quick turnaround COVID 19 test on a holiday BUT the process to check in didn't follow distancing or common sense prevention measures. Room for test not cleaned between patients. Multiple open tests out on table in treatment room. No screening prior to entering small contained space. In all felt poorly managed and riskier than necessary. For a medical establishment they need to clean up their act considerably. Won't be back. read more

Showed up early and could not sign in online for my 1140 apt, I went in and was told the nobody was able to sign in on line even though the email sent a link to do so. I sat in the waiting room for 5 minutes and was brought in back for my covid test which was pretty quick, after being interviewed by the practice Dr. I was told my results would be in by early evening. Its almost 2pm the next day and I cannot get my results online nor can i reach anyone by phone. After finally getting into the Healow portal there was nothing. The rapid test should be rapid, a lot of people are really counting on the rapid results for many reasons. Anyone in the medical field should be at their best during a pandemic, this is a joke and i don't expect to ever hear anything. Sucks... read more

I brought my sick and swollen boyfriend here at 8 am. We were the first patients here. He was physically and visibly in pain and all of the workers proceeded to ignore us patients and make coffee, talk about personal issues, and it Has been almost an hour. He proceeded to throw up and cry and none of the staff offered assistance. I would not recommend this clinic to ANYBODY. Sick or healthy. They don't care. They talked about their schedules for 15 minutes. And maybe if they did their jobs they would get more hours. I'd fire the lot and hire a whole new empathetic crew. Don't go here. read more

The desk and nurse staff were friendly and professional at the North Haven Clinic but, Dr. Manchandani was just terrible. Truly, I have never left a review, but we saw him a few years ago and left feeling like it was a waste of time and again this weekend thinking maybe there would be a different doctor there. It is hard to say if he is knowledgeable or not as he says the very least amount possible and not interested in being of "service". His bedside manners leave a lot for improvement, there is a very dead-pan face, not friendly, not helpful, no discussion. It was appalling and will never go here again. Find out what doctor you will be seeing and definitely avoid this one. I feel badly for people that see him and leave feeling condescended to. Rename this facility to non-urgent care. We were the only people there, to get tdap vaccine before our baby comes - thought we'd go into labor while we waited over an hour to just get the paperwork done. Three on staff spent time gossiping and cleaning the desk while one attempted paperwork. They called it dtap about 3 times, which is for kids and babies...not what we needed so I felt the need to check again before they shot us with it. Finally got in and the doctor's scrubs were dirty. Don't go here. Save yourselves the hassle. read more
