A woman came in but the rest of the staff got here around 8:15am - 8:20am. This would have not be such a bad thing if people didn't start coming in already and there was no one to help the clients (at least 8 people was here by the time they opened). I was able to fill out my information in the kiosk. I'm not a fan of it allowing you to set an appointment because if you schedule it for 9:30am and it's 8am it will say I You're too early for the appointment. Although I'm a walk in patient not sure why I must need an appointment. It is now 8:27am and I'm sitting in the room waiting on someone to test me for the rapid Covid test. Okay it's not 8:33am and the test was taken (no vitals) I was told to wait in the room and they would give me the test results right away which is pretty cool . This location is new and very clean, staff seems pretty nice. I got my results and letter by 8:45 so hopefully I can make it to work for 9:30am. I gave them a 5 star because of the quickness once I got processed in but they get a 4.5 for the pre processing and lack of staff when they opened at 8am. I will definitely be back again but it seems to be best to come in early in the AM.

I will say that the wait was long (about an hour and a half) even though it didn't seem too busy…read more However, the staff was generally nice and the PA that helped me (Tiphanie) was absolutely awesome. I definitely recommend this location!

Each time, the doctors (one man and one woman) have been amazingly helpful. Provides great customer service. Spends as much time necessary answering all questions, making me wish this was an actual Primary Care Provider office. My only complaint is one of the ladies at the front. Her demeanor is always very offputting. She's not blatantly rude, but she's also not personable and welcoming. This time around, she told me the fee, and I thought she said $80 because she speaks low. I said I'm sorry? And she said "Fifty. Five Zero." Ummm sis, I don't need the condescension. Just speak up next time! I said "are you alright?" She said "I'm fine." I said okay, your demeanor is a bit off, but if this is your normal personality, that's fine as well. The other receptionist said "she's actually the nice one..." Hmmm, well luckily I don't come here for their services, but I will say, If I wasn't so big on supporting black, I might not have come back just because of that. My daughters sick. I'm a bit flustered. A smile and personable greeting can really make all the difference.

This is the only Urgent Care I've ever been to and others really need to take notes. It's super clean, wait time is super short maybe like 3 people max ahead of you (today i only had 1 person before me, a child) , the Dr takes their time with you giving you everything he thinks will improve your health and never rushes through your time. No appointment is needed, insurance covers your visit and they're super friendly and kind from the second you walk in. Today I woke up No voice, throat on fire coughing out green slime. I got a IV boost with vitamins (saline IV is covered (depending on your insurance of cours) and the boost is a tiny fee less then your lunch !! I also got a B12 boost added and for the throat he sprayed Decadron which OMGGGG takes the throat pain away in 15 min and lasts 2 days (where has it been all my lifeeee) I did Testing for everything Flu, Strep, Covid Had my lungs checked, blood pressure. Best Experience Everrrrrr I'm soooo happy we have that kind d of place in our neighborhood it's gd sent I came home feeling 70% better !!! Thank you again for taking such great care of me. Happy holidays. Fenya I dunno where I would be without you

She was brilliant. I was seen by (I think) a tech or a PA named Tatiana. Again, amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, communicative, empathetic. I loved the care she gave. She was equally as brilliant as the doctor. Mind you.... this is the middle of a global viral pandemic, and this is the place where sick people go. Giving friendly, empathetic, communicative care really is "above and beyond the call of duty". I'm not sure I'd be able to do what they do. Office staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Great with kids. You check in with one of the two stations. I've been here a few times now, and the wait time is never too bad. More often than not, i go in within 8 minutes. My ONE COMPLAINT is that the staff is not enforcing a mask rule. When people come in, they're walking in with their noses and sometimes even their mouths uncovered. And, sure as heck, if there's one place where you'll find people infected with COVID-19, it's this place. By definition! The staff REALLY needs to do periodic walk-throughs in the waiting room to ensure that everyone is wearing a mask, AND WEARING IT CORRECTLY. You'd think that New Yorkers would be smart enough to wear a mask. I'm still giving this place 5 stars, but if I see so many people not wearing masks correctly, I'll be forced to make a complaint with their managers.

Brooklyn Free Clinic

Brooklyn Free Clinic is a shining example of everything American medicine needs to be (but isn't at…read moreall). I had an amazing experience here last night - from the friendliness of reception to the professionalism of the medical staff - and the only downside I saw was that this free community service is one that more people don't know about. Hopefully this review will help to change that (BFC wasn't even a Yelp entry until I added it! I learned about it on the Brokelyn website). So, yes, I am an overeducated, underemployed working class hero (hey, it's something to be). I moved to New York this summer in, as Johnny Cash and June Carter would say, a fever. While I'm looking for faculty positions (insert standard grumbling about the economy, etc etc), I am working as an editor whose employer does not offer health insurance. Oh, the American dream! I have been feeling pretty under the weather the entire month of January, but didn't go to the doctor because... well, I don't have one because I'm uninsured. Finally, my gross coughing and scratchy voice got to be too much. I looked up free clinics in Brooklyn. Enter the Brooklyn Free Clinic. I was slightly skeptical since the clinic was not on Yelp, and because when anything is "free" it is usually over-used. I imagined long lines, a dirty lobby, and being turned away after waiting in a dingy waiting room for hours with angry receptionists and sneezing children. NONE of this was true. Located in the heart of Bed-Stuy, the Free Clinic is run by the SUNY Downstate Medical Center - by med students and volunteers, and one (amazing) doctor on staff. I arrived promptly at 5:30pm - the clinic is ONLY open Tuesdays from 5:30-8:30pm right now. Their website says that walk-ins are welcome, but warns also that you may not be seen, as current patients sometime wait up to three months for appointments. When I arrived, the very pleasant reception staff told me that it may not be possible to see me tonight, but that if I didn't mind waiting, they would try to fit me in. About half an hour later, they had me filling out paperwork and I officially became a client. I'm not going to lie, the wait is long, and when you have a gross cough like I do, it can be slightly uncomfortable - but it is completely worth it. The lobby is utilitarian - it reminds me of, surprised, socialized medicine (I mean this in a positive way - I am all for socialized everything), and after the local and national news was over, one of the staff popped in a very informative (but also super cheesy, heh) video on STD testing (said video was made before the acronymic switch to "STI" - but was nonetheless effective in conveying its message) for the lobby to enjoy. Anyhow, when you're finally called, you check in with a social worker, a step that is a wonderful asset to a slightly rough neighborhood. She will tell you about all the services that the clinic offers (which include women's reproductive health, mental health, and STI testing), and ask you about yourself. The social worker who interviewed me was very pleasant and helpful. You then have to go back and wait a little while longer. Remember, these are volunteers and medical students, and all the services are free. It was a little before 8pm before I was seen. The 1st year and 3rd year medical students who did my preliminary check up were wonderful. We yucked it up about grad school and they teased me for not knowing exactly where my lungs are (hey, my doctorate is in the humanities!). The 3rd year med student was super helpful in talking to me about general health, as well as in giving a preliminary diagnosis. Dr. Kaiser Islam is the medical director of the clinic, and he sees each patient to confirm diagnoses and to write prescriptions if necessary. Turns out I have an inner ear infection, mild strep, and a mystery cough. But guess what?! The antibiotics that I needed to get - one prescription was free when filled at Rite Choice pharmacy across the street on Fulton, and the other was very inexpensive. If I hadn't found the Brooklyn Free Clinic, I would have let all of this go , and possibly had worse infections. Seriously? Seriously. I cannot speak highly enough of the Brooklyn Free Clinic. It incites me to anger to think of the state of health care in this country, and having had health insurance my whole life until now, I am honored and humbled to have had such a positive experience at the free clinic - particularly when I have had really shitty experiences at expensive specialist clinics in the past. ALL medicine should be like this. I believe if you can pay, then yes, please by all means contribute to your health care. But we all have rough times in our lives, and until we're on our feet, there is always the Brooklyn Free Clinic. Don't be afraid to humble yourself a little - remember, you can always give back when things are on the ups. BFC: Come on in, the water's nice down here.

I needed to go to the doctor and am in between insurance policies, so I found the Brooklyn Free…read moreClinic online and went the next day during walk-in hours (Wednesday, 5-6pm). If you know you need to go ahead of time, I'd highly recommend making an appointment. In total I spent almost 5 hours there -- I was last on the list. The nursing student and Registered Nurse who did my intake were very kind and professional, as were the two medical students who eventually saw me. While in the exam room I was even visited by a sexual health counselor who offered free HIV & Hep-C testing, which I thought was cool at a free clinic. In the end, I got the care I needed, got a prescription, and received my medication from the pharmacy the next day, all without paying a cent (I did pay with my time though). If you don't have health insurance and need to see a doctor, I'd recommend this clinic! Just make sure you make an appointment in advance. And bring a book to pass the time in the waiting room.

He prescribed me 10 days of antibiotics, and at 5 days my abdomen was still swollen, my skin was still yellow, and I was experiencing intense itching all over my body, so I called the aftercare line to inquire whether I should come back in; I was dismissively told to discontinue the antibiotics and take Benadryl (which I'd already explained hadn't helped the previous night when the itching started), and that I'd have to go in and see another doctor if I wanted to speak to a clinician for a second opinion. At that second appointment, Dr. Strochkov took one look at me and said, "You have jaundice and your liver is swollen, GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM NOW."
