Amanda...this is strictly about Amando Jo Tereja. The customer service from the receptionist and…read moreassistant? exceptional! I appreciate your patience and understanding! My partner came in for a visit today around 3:30pm to receive immediate attention for an extremely severe headache that had been persistent for a few days now. There was a technical error with the system with finding her insurance to verify if there was a deductible or co-payment. This took some time but we were able to see the nurse while we figured things out. Amanda seemed to have been informed of the insurance situation and wasn't too fond of that. Thats my personal observation. My partner is not fond of doctor's visits due to past experiences and struggles with overstimulation when uncomfortable or under distress as she is diagnosed autistic. Amanda came into the doctors office and asked my partner the reason for her visit. Hearing "headache" and multiple issues seemed to be triggering for her because she immediately interrupted my partner with an aggressive tone. She stated "okay stop...you have alot of issues going on. Thats not something that we can handle here. We are a urgent care facility. You have a headache? I can give you some pills for the headache but you will need to see a primary care doctor to handle everything else. Im not sure what's going on with your insurance. Maybe you owe them money or something or whatever. You come here for a headache? If you dont have good insurance, it can be very expensive to come here when you can just see a primary doctor. You work security?? Thats not good you work security and have all of these problems. You can black out when your supposed to be protecting people. Would you like a doctors note? Are you planning to go to work tomorrow?" Everything was stated in a tone coated in frustration and aggression. Im certain the other staff could hear her as well. My partner barely got a word in to explain anything. Due to being overwhelmed by Amanda's tone and disposition, my partner shut down and needed a minute to think about whether or not she wanted to call off for work the next day which lasted approximately 3 seconds...Amanda got out of her chair at this point and went to the patient chair and started tapping her fingers rapidly against it as if she was losing her patience with my partner. My partner stated that she would like a note stating she visited today and took a prescription for ibuprofen. I want to make note that we are POC and came straight from work to visit today. The things she stated struck me as she did not believe we actually had insurance at all and were lying about the issue we were having. She stated things that insinuated that we didnt have money and that we were incompetent. Also, her impatience led us to believe she felt as if we wasted HER time and not so much that she was worried about the fact we may have wasted ours...I was so uncomfortable with this visit that I could not WAIT to write this review. The assistant returned once she left and seemed to be trying her best to uplift us with her warm spirit as im sure she overheard most of the interaction. I believe the receptionist is Rhonda and the assistant was Jada! THANK YOU TWO! P.S...she never gave us the doctor's note. Ive read so many reviews similar to our experience that it is clear SOMEONE needs to be removed.

Be careful of this place. Doctors and physician assistants will upsell you and multi-bill cpt…read morecodes and not make you aware of it. Last December, I made an appointment with UTSW Irving for my yearly well woman exam. I have a high deductible plan so I know better not to ask or bring up any symptoms not well woman and preventative related because it will be out of pocket for me and will be all applied to my deductible. During my visit, the physician assistant asked me about hormone therapy treatment and if I have any thoughts about it. She brought it up, not me. So I politely said I'm not ready yet and I need to research about it. She then cancels my pap-smear stating that since it was normal last year let's skip it this year and that she will do a pelvic exam instead. Well February came and I received a bill for a regular office visit that day. I was very confused at first and I thought it was incorrectly billed. Many calls and letters to their billing department and patients assistant department later, I was told that yes there were two cpt codes that day. I argued that is not right and that I never approved the regular office visit nor made aware of. I was repeatedly told that the billing department did it correctly. I messaged the PA directly to let her know that I was billed incorrectly. She didn't even bother to message me back and had her billing department callme back and was told that the same thing and that the bill was correct. I wrote letters to their patient assistance department only to be told that yes the bill was correct . On my last letter, I asked them to make this right and that shame on them for allowing this type of practices and that I am being billed for something that I didn't ask for and was simply answering the PA's question politely and didn't realize she snucked in another billable code. There was no informed consent nor she did not make me aware that she was billing another code. Be aware of large medical groups like UTSW. They expect their docs and medical staff to upsell you anything while making you think that they care. Preventive reimbursements are not enough that they have to multi bill other codes. They are all about revenues and all they care is what they can bill your insurance and/or you. It is sad that from now on I have to think twice if a doctor asks me how I am feeling or any changes in my health lately. They are fishing for something they can orders tests for and will bill your insurance and/or you without consent or making you aware that it's outside your appointment.
