Most of my experiences have been good at this location although I'm seeing a host of less than…read morestellar reviews on here, which has me suspecting there are systemic problems in need of correction. But I had a very frustrating experience with one of their doctors, Minh Tran, if remembering his name correctly, and he was a D.O. instead of an M.D., which is an interesting question to consider. I do not believe that I am the only person to have an issue with him although I'm sure any manager would assure me otherwise because they can't come out and be too honest for their own good. He was very dismissive, invalidating, argumentative, and claimed to have difficulty finding me while holding it against me in a small building. It's not a big hospital so such a claim seems implausible. The whole appointment seemed like a big joke to him while I was in pain thanks to a medical condition, which isn't something I take kindly to. Speaking of this, if I'm pissed off enough to write a review, then you know it's bad because I don't generally complain unless I think it's of benefit to others. And I honestly wonder if he's a narcissist after our encounter because of the victim-bully routine that is very familiar to me after decades of dealing with narcissists. I'm not sure how he made it through medical school and how a person with such an advanced degree of education wouldn't have better "Win friends and influence people" skills. Hopefully he can refocus his efforts towards offering a higher degree of customer service and professionalism to good people that want the best for everybody including him while they're a bit perturbed with him. Even my roommate later told me, it's better to go to better doctors than Patient First, which is why I probably bumped into a character like him. Maybe that's true although many of the other doctors and nurses at Patient First seemed excellent. Overall Patient First has been great to do business with.

I would give this place one star but when I think back on the experience, the nurses and the front…read moreoffice staff were mostly very kind and so even though my husband was grossly misdiagnosed, customer service has got to count for something, particularly when you're coming into a place and you are vulnerable, sick, and hurting. That said, the positives quickly ended there. I took my husband to this urgent care after he suffered an accidental fall and was in excruciating pain. The doctor ordered x-rays (note that they don't have a CT scanner or any type of imaging equipment). The x-ray tech was a disaster. If I hadn't been there to guide and help my husband (who was literally gasping and crying out from the pain--and this is a man whom I've seen cry maybe 3 times in over a decade of marriage) I don't know how he would've made it through the experience. She kept barking out directions at my husband, but she wouldn't help him into the position or adequately explain exactly what she needed him to do. If it's not her job to help position or stabilize the patient then they needed to bring in a nurse or someone who could assist. I was there so it wasn't as much of an issue, but what do people who come in alone do? To add, she was somewhat brusque in her manner, which is not helpful when you have a suffering patient. She also struggled to get clear images and had to do multiple takes. And she would say things that felt like she was indicating the imaging issues she had were due to my husband's positioning. But he was doing exactly what she requested, and he was staying still despite his pain. When the x-rays were finally completed and seen by the doctor, he told us he saw no broken bones. He sent us home with extra strength ibuprofen. He didn't even make recommendations for whether or not we should seek additional care. I had to ask him what we should do if the pain didn't subside. Even then he seemed highly reluctant to give medical advice. It felt like he was scared of a lawsuit and was watching what he said. It turns out, after a visit to the ER, which is where we should have gone in the first place, my husband had a CT scan that picked up three fractured ribs and some bruising on his lung. The ER doctor was confused (but not surprised) that the x-ray from the urgent care was done so poorly, but in the end my husband got stronger medicine, a device to help him breathe better, and peace of mind knowing he had answers and a plan for healing. I would avoid this urgent care in general but certainly if you are experiencing more distressing symptoms than a cold. Again, the front office staff and the nurses were generally very nice and caring which we appreciated, but unfortunately that doesn't make up for medical and technical incompetence.

9/15/21 Since yesterday,  I have tried calling places to see…read morea physician and failed. I have called many different places to get my health insurance active again. Many things have not been easy in the healthcare department for me. Today after several runarounds on phone calls, then being told to call this number only to have the call dropped, I saw this urgent care place on my way to yet another clinic.  I talked to the receptionist and he spoke to a woman I would later come to know as Micheala. She gave me the information I needed to hear for me to choose this establishment as my go to place. Jamie  is the first nurse to take me back to the intersamtom. I was given the usual weight check, blood pressure check and asked a series of health questions like, "When was your last surgery?"  I informed her it was back in we 2015. It was the removal of an abscess on the butt. Embarrassing situation for me maybe 20 years ago, but there are worse situations out there.  After answering Jamie's questions, it was time for Camila Cabello to....oops, wrong lady. It was time for The Head Honcho named P.A  Micheala Chevalier. (I don't know her last name so I made one up.  I like French last names) Many things were discussed, but in the end, I was able to aquire the proper tools I need to control my diabetes.   I can not tell you how many places I called to  schedule an appointment only to be turned away for lack of service I needed. In the end, Micheala Chevalier not only helped me get the medical tools and prescriptions I needed, but gave me peace of mind. The way I was feeling wasn't good before I walked into the clinic.  I don't know what Russell Crowe's character Tom  in The Movie Unhinged is going through at the start of the movie, but I felt like he did with his world coming crashing down. Thank you Micheala Chevalier for healing the mind as well, as the soul and body. Oh, for first time customers,  it cost $153.00 without insurance. It was worth it.

And according to some signs in the lobby, Dr. Nguyen has won some DC area awards - including something about Rising Stars. (I wasn't paying that much attention.) Dr. Nguyen took the time to find out what kind of trip I was going on, and then tailored her recommendations to me. She recommended I get the rabies vaccine since I'll be hiking and possibly encounter animals, and recommended I get a new inhaler since I have asthma (after thoughtfully asking if I have asthma). She checked my temperature to make sure I wasn't ill, and asked when my last period was to make sure I wasn't pregnant. She meticulously filled out an immunizations card for me that even included the vaccine's batch number. In the end, she spent almost an hour with me. I certainly wasn't expecting that from an urgent care center. Dr. Nguyen's assistant (maybe a nurse practitioner) was also really thorough. She even measured my oxygen levels! One side note - If you're tight on cash, this is not the place to go. I had to pay for my travel vaccines up front, and they'll reimburse me in about 2 months after my insurance pays them. (However, I didn't have to pay for my routine non-travel vaccines up front.)

We have really only used them for yearly wellness exams which have always been fully covered until this year. I had planned on scheduling my daughter's wellness visit with Nguyen Vu for a date prior to moving her into her college apartment at VT however the schedules didn't align, and I ended up scheduling with Erika Thomas instead because Nguyen VU doesn't see patients on that day of the week and it was the only day that would work. I HIGHLY recommend AVOIDING Erika Thomas at all costs. She backdated a diagnosis for my daughter that could ONLY have been made after her wellness lab work came back the day after her appointment. Erika Thomas also ordered tests for my daughter (healthy 19 year old) that are not part of routine screening and are intended for overweight humans or humans who are 45 years with other risk factors. This is causing my insurance to charge some of the labs to my deductible because of the diagnosis. I have contacted the practice Supervisor, Assistant Manager and also spoke with the Practice Manager Alhan Ataiefar today and all she did was gaslight me to say that not all insurance covers all wellness exam items. She also gaslight me by saying that the extra tests ordered are routine, when they are not. Well, she is wrong because I have had the same insurance for the past 6+ years and everything has always been covered up to this point. Not a single person at this practice has even attempted to research this beyond talking with the practitioner to even notice the backdating. I will also add that every time I call in for help I am put on hold for 10 to 15 minutes to speak to someone who then puts me on hold for another 10-15 minutes and half the time I am either disconnected or told that the manager/supervisor is out for the rest of the day or unavailable. This place is poorly managed by Dr. Kavian S. Milani and his staff are rude and unhelpful and most practitioners appear to be consistently ordering extra tests to bring in more revenue (read more reviews for other examples.)

I love Dr. Milani as a person, but if he is going to continue seeing patients, I would like to see a return to being on top of the latest research and treatments. One of the reasons I rarely had to see a specialist as a young woman was that he was so creative and aware of what was at the cutting edge of medicine in many different fields. He really was great at taking the initiative and not letting.patients hide from their health issues. My tendency was always to want to use an Rx as my proverbial bandaid for a problem and move on. Now, too often I feel like medicine is prescribed piecemeal to treat chronic symptoms, rather than putting the pieces together and treating the cause. Just my 2 cents! But Dr. M really does continue to go above and beyond for his patients in terms of communications and compassion. He's a good guy, through and through.
