There is a lot of focus on the Medspa side of the house that has been increasing these past few years. I love Dr. Milani as a person, but if he is going to continue seeing patients, I would like to see a return to being on top of the latest research and treatments. One of the reasons I rarely had to see a specialist as a young woman was that he was so creative and aware of what was at the cutting edge of medicine in many different fields. He really was great at taking the initiative and not letting.patients hide from their health issues. My tendency was always to want to use an Rx as my proverbial bandaid for a problem and move on. Now, too often I feel like medicine is prescribed piecemeal to treat chronic symptoms, rather than putting the pieces together and treating the cause. Just my 2 cents! But Dr. M really does continue to go above and beyond for his patients in terms of communications and compassion. He's a good guy, through and through. read more

My Grandma has been doctor Milani's patient for couple of years . He knows she has breathing difficulties and gave her Tramadol 50 MG and she was about to die . She couldn't not breath . I went online and read about this prescription and it was saying people with severe asthma and breathing problems should not take this medicine . I am so disappointed because we were about to easily lose our lovely grandma due to lack of Doctors knowledge on medicines and passing her to doctor's assistance and ... But never more than the recent health crisis when our family felt the depth of his care and that of his staff. Today, I walked in to the office with my two elderly parents for a follow-up visit and were received with such patience and care that it immediately lifted our spirits and made the uncomfortable medical environment so comfortable because the interactions with those professionals were imbued with kindness and consideration. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Dr. Milani and his staff are TERRIBLE! He is disorganized, does not know what he is doing. NEVER responds to emails through the patient portal. The other drs in the office are also TERRIBLE and one does not know what the other is doing when it comes to the patient care. It is like being in a black hole and getting nowhere. After 10 months and spending a lot of money, they have not done ANYTHING to help me, do not return my calls and or emails. I have never rated a physician before, but my mother had such a great experience with Dr. Milani on a recent visit that I had to write something. First off, the appointment time was very reasonable, only took about a week to get seen. Afterwards the staff was very friendly along with a very clean and organized work environment. My mother is far more picky than I will ever be and she had nothing but great things to say about Dr. Milani after her 3rd visit with him. For 15 years she had been suffering major headaches and not a single doctor was able to dig deep enough to determine what the root cause was, just 3 visits with Dr. Milani in a short period of time was able to reveal her problem and they have already started taking steps to remedy the ailment. This is huge relief for me because I was running out of doctors to refer her to and now we finally know that her problem was not serious. I was about to become one of his patients couple yrs ago till I realized how impatient he is with the patients & the poor treatments he gives. Even reading few of previous reviews regarding him saying the patients illness so loud & his poor manner during patients present. If HIPPA finds out, his bud is gonna cutt on fire sooner or later. I first saw Dr. Milani when he was a resident probably 15 years ago and was impressed with his skill even then. When he opened an office with another resident who I liked, Elizabeth Weaver, I switched. I am active athletically and Dr. Milani is the only doctor I have ever seen who promotes wellness in addition to treating sickness. He suggested changes to my exercise routine to improve metabolic rate, added vitamins B12 and D to my diet, and ordered the most thorough blood test I have ever had. Dr Kavian may be a fine doctor but unfortunately, the practice sucks. They will call out your illness loudly while you wait for your turn to see the doc. "The patient with the xxx illness is here!" the receptionist yelled. HIPAA privacy goes out of the window. If you go here be careful on the permanent medical records that go on your file. Ask that it be seen. The doctors or transcribers responsible there write their own diagnosis on secondary issues they are not equipped to handle. Making you wait 45 minutes and being rude is expected. They are driven by reducing doctor wait times and that necessarily means patient wait times are more. I cannot believe people take the trouble to write nice things about this practice. Again, Dr. Milani Kavian is a fine doctor if you can meet with him. Its just that he has put himself in a situation where his operations do more damage even before he can meet with the patient!! read more

The actual doctors here are not so so bad, however beyond that this is one of the worst offices I've visited. I have waited NO LESS than forty minutes after my appt time to be seen, every single time I've been here. They have also tried to charge me for "a balance" on my account that I have already paid. They were attempting the exact same thing with the patient after me. Not sure if this is their game or they are really that clueless. Either way, after sitting here for 52 minutes already today I can say I will not be returning. I suggest you find another doctor in the area. read more

Dr. Milani has proven to be an outstanding professional in the healthcare industry for many years in the Washington, DC area. I personally owe my life to him. He is my doctor for 5 years now. Two years ago I contacted him on Sunday through the emergency phone line of his office when half of my face was paralyzed because of the high fever I was experiencing. He immediately diagnosed my condition and gave me the correct medications. According to the neurologist I visited after, if Dr.Milani did not give me those exact medications, my face would stay paralyze more than one year! Thanks to his great diagnoses I got cured in less than two weeks. Dr. Milani is what I call a doctor who above all is willing to listen and will treat you with care. Unprofessional staff. Get ready to pay for your medical records. They will not release your medical records to other doctors unless you pay. The bigger the records the more money. I have visited him for more than 15 times now. He always is in a hurry to leave the room. My first visit: he took a blood test, told me that I have B-12 and D vitamin deficiencies and asked me to take B-12 shots for 4 months. But my problem was still there. After a year, I visited the doctor again, took blood test, told me the same story. When I was waiting in the lobby, the receptionist was talking over the phone to someone and mentioning Vitamin-D deficiency... Check Mr. David H.'s review, posted in 2011, same Vitamin B-12 and D. I think they are trying to suggest the same B-12 shots and Vitamin-D pills to majority of their patients instead of trying to find out the actual cause. read more

I recently moved from Michigan and visited Dr. Milani for my annual physical. Blood and urine taken as usual as well as blood pressure but not anything else like pulse at the feet, ear and eye check, reflexes, turn your head and cough stuff. I had high blood pressure readings which were significantly higher than my home readings. After a followup in which I calibrated my machine (readings matched his) he ignored my weeks worth of data and prescribed drugs. He did not suggest or offer the BP device which you wear for a week. Then he didn't like my PSA test and referred me to a Urology Doctor where after series of biopsies turned out negative. Although this may was prudent the US preventative Services task force recommended not to use the test for various reasons. Lastly when I went to the Urologist my appointment was delayed because the Dr. Milani's staff had failed to forward my PSA readings to the Urologist. Now I find out that my insurance claims were all denied and on checking his office had sent the claims to the wrong carrier. Maybe this is small potatoes but I think not. read more

review for billing. worst billing department ever. they charge you enormous fees to "go over your results" in 5 rushed minutes.. and and top of that- "oh, we forgot part of your lab tests for your physical.. come back in 3 months" (and we can charge you more money when you come back for your "office visit" to go over your results) seriously, their billing process is really bad. they charge you bogus fees, are never available, and when they call back they're in a hurry to get off they phone. read more

This is a practice with a star doctor - Dr Milani- who is rare to find. He spends little time with you and seems in a hurry when you do catch him. The doctors are very good except for Carolyn. There is really an insane amount of wait time. There are better practices out there just because I don't have half a day to wait and believe me they make you wait for at least 1.5 hrs each time. read more

These professionals nickel-and-dime their patients. They charge high fees to sign a simple form. The require 2 visits for routine physicals. I was looking for a new doctor and decided to make an appointment with Dr.Milani's office. I had an appointment at 8:30a and arrived more than 10 minutes early. Upon arriving, the intake team took forever to get me checked in, I got the sense they were overwhelmed, likely from overbooking. Long story short, I waited more than 50 minutes and watched as people who arrived later than me, got called in to see the doctor. To make matters worse, the receptionist was not communicating with me on how long my wait would be. I decided after waiting 50 minutes this was not the place for me. It was a clear waste of my time, why make appointments if you cannot meet them. I understand if your backed up 20 minutes or so, but 50, that's way too much.
