I thought Bark Avenue was going to be different, because the first groom we had was wonderful, but so far they are inconsistent. The times I get a full groom done on my labradoodles they're usually done very well. Then I get a maintenance groom and it's like they get a bath but no more; even though I specifically ask for feet, face, ears and hygiene areas done. Today I returned from picking them up and my one dog's ears are full of mats. She has long hair on her ears, and the mats are very visible on the ends. I called and the groomer said she "didn't see any mats..." Well, she's very young and I'm pretty old, and not wearing my glasses and I can see them. The attitude of the younger lady there seems to be indifference . She never smiles, or greets the dogs. She just seems like she hates working there tbh. I'm sure that is not what the owner of Bark Avenue wants in an employee. I hate leaving bad reviews but I guess I'm still on the search for a decent groomer in Florence.

I will give 2 stars for how organized they are (when we arrived, the names of all the dogs and who is grooming them is on a white board and check-in is very easy). They were also very communicative prior to the appointment. Staff were all very nice. When I picked my dogs up after 3:5 hours and both were still a little bit damp. I noticed one dog had wet ears and a few knots behind her ears so I combed those out when we got home. Because she was damp upon pickup, she dried with her fur going all over. She is soft and fluffy though. My other dog, however, when I got home I noticed in the sun one area of his skin was super pink. I moved his fur back and noticed a whole patch of skin was raw. I'm not sure if they brushed too hard or with the wrong type of comb, but his skin was almost bleeding (the skin is a little broken in a few areas). The rest of his body seems fine but this one patch is raw which has never happened before. We just moved here so finding a new groomer and vet has been my biggest stressor. I know large dogs can be REALLY hard, but we had an amazing groomer back home so I know it can be done. They seemed to be doing great with the small shih-tzus and poodles and such, so I think if you have that type of dog, you would be okay.

Eric is great and does a wonderful job, especially with trimming nails. I appreciate the ability to make express appointments for first thing in the morning. We're the first client of the day and Eric meets us at the store. The appointment takes all of 25 or so minutes. Our dog has a tendency to get nervous and bump into walls resulting in bloody bumps if unattended. So waiting in my car in the parking lot and taking him home right after is helpful. Staff are so kind and I'm thankful that they are able to accommodate us.

Very friendly, nice people, who seem to really care about the dogs that they groom. Eric did Thor's shave down. He knew that I was a bit nervous, but was very calm and gentle with Thor. I explained that Thor is deaf, and taught Eric the signs for "good boy" and "fine". When Thor came out, he looked great, happy and curious. I think they have set prices based on the size/breed of dog. Thor is an Old English Sheepdog, he was expensive. But I'll pay it to feel confident in the person that is cutting his hair. When we got home, I noticed a few knicks that Eric hadn't mentioned - minus star. But Thor had a lot of hair, and is a bit rowdy, so I wasn't really surprised. The shop is really cute too.
