I've volunteered at dog rescues in the past (fostered 28 dogs), but this was my first experience with a bird rescue. Audrey and Tina were so patient with all of my questions. Audrey even gave me advice that's helped me with my ducorp's cockatoo, Silly Billy. I had no intention of adopting, but a little goffin's cockatoo, Coco(nut) connected with me. In January 2026, I formally adopted her. Audrey has been helpful with any follow-up questions I've had. Like every rescue I've ever dealt with, the adoption paperwork clearly states adoption expectations, e.g., no breeding, trying to make money off of, or giving the bird to someone else. I felt like the adoption fee was fair, and I know that money is being used to help cover food, vet fees, etc. for the birds. Heck, a routine check up at the avian vet for Silly Billy costs me more than Coco(nut)'s adoption fee. If anyone tells you birds aren't expensive, they're not taking care of their birds. Those little pterodactyl's vet visits cost a fortune even when it's a routine checkup! If you want a bird, I suggest getting one from a rescue. Volunteering at a rescue gives you a healthy perspective on what it takes to care for a bird. Find a bird that connects with you and is a good fit. That bird is likely going to be a different bird than what you originally wanted.

She ensures they are vet checked, disease checked, DNA sexed and works with them on diet and training until she finds the right home. I have referred several potential adopters to her due to the level of support she provides. It is a small rescue with big goals and a lot of birds no other rescue would take. She loves them all, the good, bad, ugly, bites, screamers, plucked, ill, old, young, small to extra large. She puts literally her entire life into the rescue. She also stands up for the birds if they are adopted out and it turns out the adopters were dishonest or sold the bird elsewhere against the adoption agreement. ​​

They could have left the situation as is, but instead the staff contacted the owner and they made it right. There are not many businesses that will do that anymore, and for that reason alone I would have given them five stars. I cannot say so much about the lady. she seemed to be the one in charge, but she did not greet us nor ask us if we needed any assistance. all while playing on her cell phone while sitting behind the counter. My fiance went to pick a rabbit up ( we own three and WERE considering adopting from there) and the rabbits nails were so long they cut him and got stuck into his shirt. we politely informed the lady at the front desk that the nails should be trimmed as it can cause health issues later in life. She very rudely let us know that they don't do that there and that there isn't anyone certified to do that. That statement didn't make any sense to us considering we do all of our pet maintenance ourselves. to which she replied she doesn't even cut her own animals nails. I will say thank you to the other person on shift for picking out the few large crickets they had left, but I'm ashamed of the way this establishment allows their employees to treat customers. We have 10 pets and could potentially be regular customers, but this store has lost my business completely. will not shop at another pet lovers any time soon. I would suggest "certifying" some people to trim nails.
