My girlfriend and I scheduled the same massage, Ocean Devotion, a Balinese- and Polynesian-inspired massage. We were taken into the massage rooms at the same time which was nice. Once in the room, the masseuse left for me to undress and didn't return for 10 minutes. When she finally returned, I was told she was looking for the oil I requested from their selection that they were out of. Overall, the massage was not anything special, was mediocre and not worth $300+. Once I met up with my friend, she looked relaxed and happy. She started telling how wonderful her massage was and how much better she felt. She told me about the different techniques and used and details about how the masseuse worked on her. I was in complete shock because mine was NOTHING like hers. No stretching, no hot stone massaging (they were simply laid on my lower back), no full body flow movements, etc. It was a COMPLETELY different massage and was generic! To make it even better, I could not adjust the gratuity as it was automatically added to the already pricy service fee. I had to put a credit card down (like most spas) my treatment was at 1:15 and the woman on the phone told me I could get there as early as 9 AM to use all the amenities (pool, sauna and etc) When I arrived, Vincent, was working valet and helped me out. He showed me exactly how to get to the spa. (You get free valet parking with your spa service) I will say, the spa is pretty far from the main hotel lobby entrance. It does have nice views and the place is spotless. It is easy to find though. They have tons of signs pointing you into the direction of the spa. Once you get to the spa it's tucked away in gorgeous greenery with a little bridge that takes you over a little koi fish pond When I got to the spa, the girl at the desk was amazing (I wish I got the names of everyone) she checked me in, she asked if I had any allergies, asked if I had any health issues they needed to be aware of and etc. She was on point. She then asked if it was my first time there (it was my first time) so then she immediately paged another staff member to show me around. She gave me the whole walk through, showed me how to use the lockers and everything. She was great as well I did use the sauna before and after my 50 minute massage which included hot stones They had a lovely water station with your typical spa water. They also had a big bucket of ice (which I love having ice. The colder my drink, the better) They also had a tea station. They had honey, cinnamon sticks and other things at the tea station available. Yet you have to go to the desk to ask for the tea bags When I got to the waiting room (relaxation room where you wait to be called for your treatment) they had a lovely set up. Really nice comfortable couches, they had chairs right by the fireplace, they had fruit, they had some baked goods and then I saw the menu for food you can order and they had drinks you could order (food and drinks were for a price. But the little baked goods were free) they had a banana bread and these delicious bars with jam. They also had a variety of nuts, trail mix and etc with little cups you could put them in I had the pleasure of getting Brittney. She was absolutely great. She took me to the treatment room and gave me a minute to get undressed and situated on the table. She asked if the table was warm enough for me. She was great at asking if I wanted light or medium. I told her just to wing it. I did have a LOT of knots in my back on the right side. So she went for it lol. The pressure was at times a little too hard for my taste. But if it makes me feel better in the long run, I don't mind. Plus, I could have told her to lighten up at any time. I really did not want this to end. I felt great afterwards. I have gotten massages everywhere and of course some therapists are better than others, some more experienced and some just flow better with my preferences. Massage on the Beach has generally been on the better side so we were shocked and disappointed during our last visit. There were a few minor inconveniences but the biggest problem was the lack of attentiveness during the massage. Lisa was my masseuse and from the beginning, I sensed she was either unhappy, upset, annoyed or just having an off day. To clarify, she was not rude or impolite towards me specifically, just... off. I didn't have a great feeling from the start. I've had massages where the pressure or specific body part hurts just a little more than I'd like - I specifically tell therapists to avoid my legs because they're hypersensitive - but eventually once the soreness wears, you feel incredibly loose and much better. This wasn't the case here. Harder pressure but slow, coordinated hand motions are pretty much how a normal massage goes. Lisa was essentially jack-hammering my body, almost as if in a rush to get through the 90 minutes. Multiple times I asked her to lighten up on the pressure and she would, then move onto the next body part and resume the extreme pressure and speed. At one point, I gave up asking and just prayed it would be over soon. After my massage, I felt incredibly dis-regulated - the kind of feeling you get after puking - some relief that the pain is over, however, the uneasy queasiness comes with it as well. I don't particularly consider myself an overall anxious person but I was extremely anxious afterwards. In my extremely uncomfortable state, I managed to find some courage and told reception how awful I felt. She was apologetic and offered me a 50% discount and advised if I still felt the need to request a larger discount or complimentary service I should reach out again via phone or email. Life happened and some time passed and I kept procrastinating reaching out then finally found some time to reach out - about a few weeks later. Sent a detailed email with both mine and my friends shared experience - she had the exact same grievances with her masseuse, Sophia, which we found oddly coincidental seeing as we were with two separate masseuses, in two separate rooms, and they both managed to give us the same careless service. Management sent a very corporate-speak email a few days later and I felt it lacked empathy for our experience especially being two members of their service. They ultimately advised that no additional refunds, complimentary services, or other accommodations would be offered. My massage was discounted at the time of the complaint, but my friend paid in full plus tip and did not receive any adjustment. We will be going back to our old massage spot. Closer and cheaper and never had any masseuse take our their frustrations on our bodies there. My fiancé, however, had an awful, abrasive masseuse named Denise. She rubbed oil all over his face, and when he asked for a towel afterward because his face was oily, she got angry that he'd even asked. Early in the massage she was already rude -- she rubbed oil into his stitches after he specifically asked her not to, then barked back and got defensive when he said something. On the way out, the woman at checkout asked how it went. I told her it was bad and that I wanted to speak to a manager, but not that day, since it was my birthday. She said the owner/manager, Anne, would call me the next day. Instead, Anne called me that same day -- my birthday -- after I had made it clear I wanted to talk another time. I tried to give Anne feedback as a fellow business owner, but she wouldn't let me get a word in. She talked over me, saying, "We are well known and have been in business 20 years, and we do not pay anyone for good reviews... I know who you are, you're a barber in Pacific City." Her right off the bat saying she doesn't pay people for reviews tells me otherwise. I asked how she knew that. I told her, "I don't care if you've been in business 20 years or 2." She said, "I researched you." That's incredibly creepy. I didn't use my business email or mailing address on my paperwork -- all it listed was "barber" as my profession and my name. When I asked Anne why or how she knew who I was and told her it was creepy, she said that at Cloudmover they consider it normal to look up clients online and find out who they are. I own a business myself, and if I get a bad review, I don't go digging into my clients' personal lives or looking up where they work. Anne is rude, and the numbers don't add up. Out of curiosity, I compared the 4000 plus glowing reviews on their website against their Yelp, Google, and other platforms -- the counts and ratings don't line up across the board. The FTC states you cannot suppress or be selective and to suppress negative reviews from your website misleading customers. Bottom line: the owner/manager at Cloudmover Day Spa thinks it's acceptable to look up customers online and doesn't care about customer feedback. Not recommended -- unless you want to waste your money and get treated like crap on your birthday after spending $260 ish.

We waited approximately 40 minutes before we were finally able to get into our room. The hotel initially offered us a $50 credit, and after the continued delay, increased it to $100, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. When we finally entered our room, we discovered visible stains on the bedsheets. After waiting 40 minutes just to get into the room, it was extremely disappointing to find that the room had not been properly prepared. We contacted housekeeping and had the sheets replaced. We did not want to change rooms because we had already spent so much time waiting and did not want to go through the entire process again. Then came the most concerning issue. At checkout, we reviewed our folio and discovered a $118.74 charge from Lorea, the hotel's restaurant. We never visited Lorea and never made this purchase. The charge had been posted to our room even though it was not our bill. We had to wait another approximately 40 minutes at checkout while the hotel investigated and confirmed to waived the charge. So during this stay, we spent approximately 80 minutes of our valuable vacation time waiting because of problems caused by the hotel -- 40 minutes waiting for our room at check-in and another 40 minutes dealing with an incorrect restaurant charge at checkout. The location is beautiful, but unfortunately, the service and overall experience did not meet the standard we expected. We left feeling that we spent far too much of our vacation time dealing with problems that should never have happened in the first place. We will not be returning and cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience.
