    Bald kid in the back who told me to get the F out and accused me of wanting to steal bc I asked for a discount

    I've been coming here for years to get parts for my 50' Hatteras and other boats I've owned and usually have had a great time in this store but today the two kids, bald one and long hair, were nothing but beyond disrespectful to me. I wanted a black knob for my transmission shifter which I was only able to find on a whole transmission control with 2 knobs. I told them that I wanted to leave them with whole control system so that they can resell as I just wanted the black knob. I also asked what kind of discount I could get, if any. Bald kid told me, 'we don't give discounts' which is clearly not true because last time I was there they gave me one which I told bald kid and he said you're not buying that much today. I said I just thought I'd ask and I still wanted to leave the whole part minus the 1 black knob with them. Bald kid proceeded to tell me 'what do you want to do steal it from us'? I said what? I'm just asking if you'd consider a discount because I want to leave this here for you to resell. He then said we don't sell parts to which I said, yes you do this whole store is selling parts, that's why we all come here. When I told him that was rude that he asked if I wanted to steal from him (for asking for a discount) he denied saying that. I told him that he did say that and that it was on their cameras and on my audio recorder which had been on from something I was doing before. He then told me to get the fuck out of the store because they had the right to refuse service. The long hair kid started raising his voice to me also asked me to leave to which I told him to stop yelling at me. He told me to leave and I said nope, I'd like for you to call Ernie. I've been coming here for years. I'm buying this. In the end, he hastily took my card and charged me which I was happy to pay regardless. I am just blown away that Ernie would allow his staff to speak with old or new customers this way. That is completely unacceptable. I don't care if these kids were having a bad day, or if they didn't like someone asking them for a discount, those types of things do not warrant this type of disrespectful behavior. I will put a call into Ernie. He's always been great! What a shame for his representation today. Lastly, these kids were lazy AF and didn't want to get up to help with anything.

    Hello. I want to introduce myself. I am Sherry Brunt and I was born in Newport Beach, raised aboard a schooner, cruising, Newport Harbor being my home base. I am very blessed to be the manager of Minney's Yacht Surplus. I am a retired private investigator and came onboard 15 years ago. Our quirky crew is, definately, unique. We take it very seriously when someone comes in needing to troubleshoot a problem. Whether it be a blown-out sail, engine trouble, a new prop, steering, winches, etc....our goal is to get you back out on the water. We spend a lot of time teaching, trouble-shooting, researching, digging, and quite often, merely comforting. Our crew is a family. Captain Ernie Minney is a tough and compassionate captain, running a tight ship. He is strict, fair, generous, and one hell of a sailor. I was, quite frankly, both surprised and saddened to read a few negative reviews amongst the raves. I strongly encourage anyone who has an issue, whether it be an attitude, a price...whatever...to come to me, personally. We want your experience to be a positive one...always...after all...we are Minney's...we keep boating affordable, safe, happy and......FUN!!! We LOVE our customers (and always a good joke or sea story)! P.S. Always pet-friendly

    Watch out for the manager named J-----. He overcharged me. When I called back to let him know, he was quite rude about it.

We were at our wits end and getting discouraged as this was a new engine with less than 100 hours on it. As my wife works in the industry at a business with a similar name, we reached out to see if they could figure out what was causing our issue. Derek was very helpful and courteous as well as thorough with the inspection process. After a couple of days he figured out that water flow was being restricted at the transom due to a clogged inlet that was described simply as "mush". We obtained a new transom and had it installed. Derek called us up and said there was no more steam, the temp was back to normal and the motor was running fine. After picking up the boat, we took it to Elsinore for a test run with no issues. What a relief. For the scope of work performed, the cost was reasonable. That being said, everyone knows what BOAT means! Lol. A big thank you to Derek and the entire staff at Advanced Marine Service! Now we are bound for the river!

Since that time I have owned several boats and have dealt with different brokers, and what I found was that a lot of brokers were not too forth coming with detailed help when it came to purchasing a boat. A few years back I reached out to JR and wanted to purchase a 2008 Formula 350 SS. I was ready to buy it when JR told me I needed to do my due diligence and have the boat surveyed and checked out to see if it had any issues, He gave me names of Surveyors and Mechanics that he trusted and valued. After reviewing both the boat and engines surveys, and with the boat having some issues just like all used boat. JR was very helpful with the negotiations making sure a fair selling price was agreed by both seller and buyer covering any repairs that were safety matters and needed to be addressed. My wife, who doesn't trust a sole, looks out for me because, as she says I look through rose colored glasses, and she put JR to the test, and JR knew that if my wife didn't trust him, she would put him through the wringer. When my wife and I were ready to step up to a bigger boat, JR was the first one I called. He explained to me in detail how bigger boats require more attention than little boats and wanted us to be aware of that. He educated me on what to look for and steered me away from what he felt were not quality boats. 6 months ago, I stepped up to a 45' boat and JR was there for us every step of the way. We looked at many boats, and he wouldn't let us settle for just anything. Again, he helped us with the negotiations to make sure we purchased it at a good price. Rick represented the seller of the yacht I was interested in... From the first meetup at the boat all the way through the final acceptance and sale, Rick acted as if he was not only representing his client with a sale, but also carefully navigated the relationship between myself and the seller throughout the process. I don't know all the ins and outs of the Agreement/Acceptance paperwork, but Rick made the entire process simple through constant digital paperwork updates and clear explanations of each step in the standard processing. Rick joined us for the Survey, Sea Trial and Haul/Re-Launch day. He made sure to skillfully manage the negotiation process between the seller and myself based on our findings throughout that day of discovery. The owner was not present, but Rick made sure to know every detail possible about the vessel to assist myself and the surveyors in the exploration of the vessel. Upon my acceptance of the vessel and final purchase, Rick made sure to put me in touch with top-notch Vessel Documentation services (another process I'm unfamiliar with) and the paperwork is all successfully underway with the Coast Guard. I can' t thank Rick enough for being such a helpful hand and cheerful partner in this process of acquiring my new yacht, which I now consider my 'Dream Boat'.
