He was patient, informative, and took the time to answer all my questions, which gave me a lot of confidence before we even got there. When we arrived, the three ladies at the sign-in shack were just as friendly and helpful. What stood out most to me was how focused they were on making sure everyone understood the process--not just for fun, but also from a safety standpoint. I really appreciated the way the staff in kayaks guided us, giving us clear heads-ups and reminders throughout the trip. That kind of attention helped a ton. The experience itself was absolutely exhilarating--riding through the rapids with friends was so wonderful. Our guides, Margo and Thea, were incredible. They were both friendly and supportive the whole time. At one point, during the last rapid, my friend lost his balance and fell into me, and almost knocking me out of the raft. Thankfully, Margo and my wife reacted quickly and grabbed me before I went overboard. Special thanks to Margo for that! Honestly, the whole trip was so much fun I was ready to go again immediately, but we had to check in our hotel and grab dinner. I just wanted to say thank you to the entire team, especially Margo and Thea, for making our first rafting adventure such a great one. We'll definitely be back soon.

Only four stars for two reasons. If you've never been rafting before, you will love this! If you have done some rafting in other states, this river will feel tame. Swiftwater adds in some time at a nice little beach where you can ride over a small rapid and hike up and the guides will show you berries! This makes up for the less exciting rapids. Also, and I'm sure this rarely happens, but the camera malfunctioned the day we were there and we didnt get pictures of our group. Bummer.

We looked around and my wife found Positive Energy and we decided to book a weekend in Duluth so we could go dog sledding. We got all of our warm gear ready and headed out. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner and one of the dogs. Next we got a lesson on sleds and dog teams. Walking into the dog area we got to meet all of the dogs. Then we got to harness them and get them set on the rope of each sled. We learned a lot about dogs and the history of sledding the whole time were were there from the staff. They make sure you really understand everything and take the time to answer every question you have. We did the 3 hour tour and it was amazing!!! We got on the sleds as passengers and after about 25 min mine stopped and I got to drive. Wow was it fun, driving a dog sled on my own across a frozen lake. It was a lot more work than I expected but worth every second. After we were done sledding we helped get the dogs off of the sleds, they got treats and we helped get them back to each dogs house. I recommend Positive Energy to anyone wanting to try dogsledding. The staff and the dogs are amazing!

After a week, having not received any shipping info, I emailed them to ask for info. The next day they replied in email that it turned out they didn't actually have the bindings that I'd ordered so they never sent them. They didn't even bother telling me until I emailed them, just never sent them! I had a non-refundable slalom race trip I'd booked. They cost me a ton of money. Absolutely enraging. We checked with a number of shops in the are to find enough bikes for our group and that would also accommodate 1/2 day rentals. We found the Ski Hut location near Spirit Mountain to have a good selection of bikes with half day rental available and located right adjacent to the trail. We worked with Chris and Shawn to get bikes lined up for our group. They were both really great to work with, totally low key, knowledgeable and helpful. We upgraded our original plans to ebikes which were a big hit as we had widely different endurance abilities in our group. Chris set us up with Trek bikes with the Bosch mid-drive system. Really a nice quality bike for a rental and decently priced too. Easily my first choice shop for my next visit to the area.

My experience level is kayaking a few times a year on lakes primarily, though I have done ocean harbors and coves also. Our group included some with more and less experience than that. The guides ask for your input ahead of time on what experience you are looking for, and dietary restrictions, which is great. Based on the weather forecast, our guide recommended we consider tandem kayaks. We normally prefer single kayaks but took the advice and were so glad we did as it absolutely helped in powering through the wind and waves of Lake Superior (and the presence of the rudder meant a relatively low amount of coordination required between the two paddlers). The Lost Creek team also quickly acted to put together a plan B when our initial trip to Sand Island was nixed due to a small craft advisory. We ended up going to Basswood island instead. I appreciated the water exit training we did before the trip. The food provided throughout was excellent. Our sights included a seastack, an arch, and a shipwreck. Most of all, the guides ensured we had a fun, safe adventure!

I've kayaked AK, HI and the San Juans (WA) and this was the best! It's a very short bus ride to Meyers Beach so you don't waste a lot of time getting on the water. As a side note, I later learned from another type of boat tour on Madeline Island that there are a few pretenders in the kayak tour business but Lost Creek is considered by locals to be one of the best!!
