There were 5 to 7 different rapids that we had to navigate. We did not have experience with the rapids. We could have gotten seriously injured. One of the rapids flipped two of us around, so we were going backward. We could not turn and we were both heading for major trees. I had a tree right at head height. This was day 1 of our vacation and it was a horrible experience. There were stones all over that we got caught up on, other places was so shallow we got stuck and then there was the rapids. The worker was at the location where we exited, he asked how it was and all 4 of us said it was awful. He said there is only 1 place where there is rapids. That was not true!! They need to provide maps because we were often paddling hoping we were going in the right direction but the river split. They need to reclassify this route for intermediate experience and make sure everyone understands what it actually will be like. It would have helped if they gave you some understanding of how to handle the rapids. They took our money and dropped us off but I believe they owe their customers more.

Lots of different trails take you past lakes, rivers, and beautiful wooded areas. Looks like you can rent mountain bikes, skis, and snowshoes for an extra fee which offers a different vibe if you just don't want to hike. Large area for picnics, so bring a lunch with you and enjoy a relaxing walk in nature. Cheap and fun thing to do with family, a date, or just by yourself!

A short walk from the campground itself gives you access to a decent put-in/take-out location for running the river. There are a couple good steelhead holes nearby as well. The bathrooms are solid, and there is a water pump to load up on a hot summer day. You can reserve sites or walk up if sites are still available. Every site has a good fire ring and log bench or two. Fellow campers are usually very friendly and willing to share fishing tips and locations.

The marathon is on a beautiful course along the water. The day was absolutely perfect for running, around 50 degrees and sunny most of the race. As a spectator, you need a plan that allow you to travel, park, get to a spot, cheer, get back to your car, and time the next spot your runner will be...rinse and repeat as many times as you can over 26 miles. Grandma's is a bit more challenging to do that (as compared to Twin Cities) because there are only so many arteries to the race route. There are cars all over and lots of people moving at the same time. Closed roads and construction didn't make it easier. We were able to see our runner about 6 times on the course. She was easy to find after the race. It was all well organized with race packet easy to pickup. Allow plenty of time for parking as there are tons of people and cars to work around. Great experience.

Grandma's Marathon was great! It is a beautiful course and there are supporters along most of the…read moreway! It is super exciting to run into Duluth - the last 4 miles or so are packed with people cheering the runners on. The festivities continue after the race! There is live music all night and other special events and vendors around Canal Park. Wonderful weekend, great race!!! If you're debating whether or not to sign up next year, this is your sign to do it!

Such a fabulous scenery in old town and then over the lifting bridge, which lifts every 30 minutes…read more The drive to the beach was beautiful curvy roads and beautiful infrastructure and houses and we really enjoyed the marsh scenery that we encountered. There's plenty of parking on the side of the road and lots of entrances to get to the beach. The beach is beautiful with the city in the background or the lighthouse Sandpoint in the other direction the water was clear there was so much soft sand, and plenty of rocks to look for. We were told by locals to look for the Agote rocks plenty of treasures we found here. This is a must see and check out on your visit to Duluth.
