Sterile stadium. It's new. It's large. We travel a lot and are attempting to hit every stadium so I have a few to compare it to. Don't get me wrong- it's nice. I just felt like not much made it stand out as just a Minnesota thing. Like Milwaukee has the sausage races and the homerun slide. Fenway has the Green Monstah. (Just so you know I'm fair- Yankee stadium is pretty sterile too.) What I did like- you can park in a parking garage literally across the street and surprisingly no security check to get in. Also some cool obstructed city views. What I did miss since my daughter was taking a trapeze lesson, my husband texted me they had a kid solve a rubrics cube in under a minute and then toss it as the first pitch! He said it was awesome. That is pretty interesting.

The Minnesota Twins are another team that holds a place in my heart. My Dodgers Fan friend Craig and I were carrying on a compliment conversation about my favorite teams. I have been to Minnesota so many times because I have a lot of family living there. But the main reason I remember my love for the Twins is Tony Oliva. Currently Tony Oliva is a Cuban former professional baseball player and coach. He played his entire career in Major League Baseball as a right fielder and designated hitter for the Minnesota Twins from 1962 to 1976. Minnesota has had many excellent players on their team. Sometimes I love a team because of a family member who was a fan. Sometimes I love a particular player who plays or played for the team. Sometimes I've been to the location of the team and been to a game with my family or friends. There you have it. I favor the Twins too. The Minnesota Twins won the World Series: 1924 1987 1991

Review from 7/2023 I had the best time ever! No, my Angels were not playing, but I saw another wonderful baseball park in a city with everything next to it. The history on the walls when you walk in is great! If you know the Angels, you know Rod Carew played for them, but he was also a Twin. I got to get pictures with one of my favorite players (well, his statue)! The view was spectacular! This stadium made me feel like the old school stadium, although it is renovated and newer! Parking was no issue for us as the suite had free parking, so I'm not sure about the regular people. HAHA! We were in the Pepsi suite on the second level and the view was great. The entire atmosphere of this place was wonderful. There were many food choices and shopping on the suite level. The people working in the facility were awesome, especially the bartenders! Super close to restaurants, make it a night! See a game and grab some drinks!

As the Minnesota Twins, this franchise has won two World Series in 1987 and 1991. The franchise has another World Series win in 1924 as the Washington Senators. The Senators moved to the Minneapolis area and were renamed to the Minnesota Twins beginning with the 1961 season. All time, the Twins haven't been a bad franchise, but they haven't been great either, despite the five-year stretch in the late 80s/early 90s when they won those two World Series titles. Since the franchise's first season in 1901, the Twins have ranked in the bottom-third of MLB in regular season win-loss record and next to dead last, 29th out of the active 30 teams, in postseason win-loss record at 33-56 (.371). Tom Kelly, who managed the Twins from 1986 to 2001, helped to build and lead those championship teams in 1987 and 1991. He was AL Manager of the Year in 1991. The 1987 World Series was a 4-3 win by the Twins over the St. Louis Cardinals. The 1991 World Series was another 4-3 win by the Twins; that year, over the Atlanta Braves (my favorite team - and the Braves had a great team that year). Tony Oliva, who was an eight-time All-Star while playing for the Twins, was a coach on the 1987 and 1991 World-Series-winning teams. He's the only person to appear in all three of the Twins' (not Senators') World Series appearances as a player or coach. During his playing career, he was a right-fielder and designated hitter. He played in the 1965 World Series, a 4-3 loss to the LA Dodgers. Along with Oliva, several notable players have suited up for the Twins including pitchers Frank Viola (1987 World Series MVP), Jack Morris (1991 World Series MVP), and Johan Santana. Viola won the AL Cy Young Award in 1988 and Santana won it twice in 2004 and 2006. After the 1991 World Series, the Twins went on a 10-year playoff drought (technically nine since the 1994 playoffs were canceled due to the 94-95 strike). In the last 20 complete seasons, 2002-2021, the Twins have qualified for the postseason nine times (not bad), but have only won one series, the 2002 ALDS. On the bright side, the Twins won the AL Central Division eight times in that same span. And they've been making it into the postseason at a significantly higher rate compared to every previous 10-to-20-year period in the team's history. The 2000s Twins were very talented. Along with Santana, those division-championship teams were led by terrific players like first basemen Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer (Mauer was also a catcher and DH). Those two became the first Twins to win the AL MVP award since Rod Carew in 1977. Morneau won the award in 2006 (the year Santana won his second Cy Young Award) and Mauer won it just three years later in 2009.

Enjoy a midsummer night's game near the banks of the Mississippi, with plenty to do in and around the stadium, checking out the Twins action. Easy parking factor: Downtown Minneapolis gives many options to park on the cheap, then it's an easy quarter-mile stroll to the stadium. Cruise through the Skyway to be indoors the whole way, or during those mid-April "Belgian Spring" 39/sleet games. Cheap ticket factor: Twins fans love their team, but there are still plenty of seats under $20 if you don't need to sit with the rich people field-level behind home plate. Great view, roof-sheltered seats abound if you're okay with upper-deck action. Only 38K seats also means you'll be close to the action anywhere. Welcoming factor: It's always summer at a Twins game, and you'll get ample exposure to Twins-lore, even though this is one of the newer parks. At least you can be sure the breeze blowing toward the fences isn't caused by somebody changing air pressure for a homerun since we're out of the Twindome. Food factor: Target wins in the variety category. Peanut butter n jelly candied bacon sandwich? Yes. Channa Rice Bowl? Yes. Greek to Me Sharable Board? Yes if you want to drop $42. Bollywood Smash Salad? Yes. Plus your location in the heart of the city provide plenty of choices pre/post-game. Move freely about the cabin factor: great view everywhere, so take a stroll and some pics away from your paid-for seat. Plenty of standing-room views close to the action, with friendly attendants who will help you find a good photo backdrop and not kick you out too quickly. Little kid souvenir factor: we missed BP but I imagine it'd be as good as the next place for souvenirs and foul-ball catching. If you're actually a Twins fan this would be memory-lane heaven, despite the newer stadium vibe. Great city to see a game, excellent park with thought put into the way fans want to catch the action.

Stopped in to check up on the Twins while in town this weekend. I really liked the stadium and I would say of the 4 I went to while in the region STL KC MPLS, and MKE - this came in right behind MKE as my favorite park I had been to. Clean park, plenty of amenities, and a great baseball presentation. Cheers.

We enjoy going to baseball games in whatever city we are living and the Target Field impresses! Not only are the Twins a fun and exciting team to watch, the venue is great! Unlike many other stadiums that serve the standard hotdog, popcorn and light beer, they have lots of options here! Everything ranging from a local favorite, fried cheese curds, to pizza to vegan dogs! There's a variety of beers and bars that serve mixed drinks. We took the light rail so we wouldn't have to worry about downtown parking and it's so simple and easy to take. It dropped us off right at the front entrance. I don't know a whole lot about baseball but enough to scream, chant, mingle and have a good time!

Love watching the MN Twins at Target Field. It's great to have outdoor baseball, and Target Field has many features to enhance your baseball-watching fun. The MN Twins store is large and offers lots of memorabilia and clothing. There are several smaller stores also. There are a few bar areas with drink rails. There is also an indoor seated restaurant and bar. Overall great experience watching professional baseball. Go Twins!

Ask the Community - Minnesota Twins

Are there hotels nearby in walking distance to the stadium?

Yes there's plenty within walking distance. Minneapolis is a walkable city. Also, there's an easy to use, accessible and cheap light rail that stops right at the stadium. It helps with not worrying about parking downtown.

Being court side you get right up in the action and really get to experience the wild athleticism these players bring. I've said it time and time again, but basketball games, specifically the wolves, is the most entertaining in person sport on the planet. It's non stop action, every commercial break they bring out performers and they run fun and silly events constantly between quarters. Since the 2012-13 season, the Minnesota Wild have been almost a perennial playoff team. However,…read morethe Wild have routinely lost in the first or qualifying rounds. They've yet to get over the hump and make it to the Stanley Cup Finals. The closest the team got was in 2003. That year, they got swept by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (now the Anaheim Ducks), 4-0, in the Western Conference Finals. That said, all things considered, the Wild haven't done bad considering they're one of the NHL's youngest teams (founded in 2000). Only the Vegas Golden Knights (2017) and Seattle Kraken (2021) are newer. The Wild play at Xcel Energy Center, located in the Northwestern Precinct of Downtown St. Paul. The arena is referred to as "The X" and it opened in 2000. It was built specifically so St. Paul could get an NHL team. With a seating capacity of about 18,000, the X is in-line with most other NHL venues (15-20k seats). In team history, former Wild players Mikko Koivu and Marian Gaborik are probably the most well-known as both are ranked in the top two in terms of total points and goals scored. Koivu, who is from Finland, has also recorded the most games for the Wild at an even 1,000. Today, the Wild's best-known players are left-winger Zach Parise and defensemen Ryan Suter and Jared Spurgeon. Parise and Suter were both members of the silver-medal-winning US hockey team at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver (Suter's dad was on the famous 1980 team that beat the Soviet Union). Since joining the team in 2012, both Parise and Suter have been key cogs in the Wild's consistent run of playoff appearances. Currently, both are alternate captains. Spurgeon first signed with the Wild earlier, in 2010, and recently signed a $53 million extension that will see him in Minnesota through the 2026-27 season. He and fellow defenseman Jonas Brodin are presently locked up the longest, contract-wise. The four aforementioned players are among the team's highest-paid at this time.

As a result, I have a soft spot for this team. I got cable TV when I first settled in my apartment. However, I wasn't getting a ton of NHL hockey games. I was a huge hockey fan back then. I put the FAN in FANatic. I ended up changing my cable plan to basic and got the NHL game package with DIRECTV, which wasn't AT&T back then, but is now. The guy over the phone was saying that I get NFL games with my base package, which was probably a decent selling point to most Americans. I remember saying to him, "I don't care about football. I need hockey games!" Anyway, I was pleased watching local Wild games on the lone, local FOX channel whenever they were available, and all the away games on DIRECTV. Anyone remember Mike Goldberg, one of the play-by-play Wild hockey announcers on FOX? He always pronounced the last syllable of every word. Some examples: "Hi, I'm Mike Goldber-guh." "Goal by Gabori-k!" "Dow-d is in the faceoff circle." I understood the pain of losing an NHL team and getting it back. I went through it with the Winnipeg Jets. Minnesota lost its Stars team, which ended up in Dallas. When Minnesota got the Wild as its new NHL team, you knew it was the right decision. Minnesotans are diehard hockey fans. They are passionate and breathe hockey. The fanbase is loyal and strong to this day. The team's tagline is fitting and meaningful: Our state. Our team. Our ice. I couldn't get a ticket to see a game at the Xcel Energy Center as a resident of the state. I ended up putting a deposit on season tickets and returned to Canada, forgetting about this deposit for eons... until now. I recently got a game pack and went to my first Wild game. Miracles happen! The Wild have struggled to make it into the playoffs. I hope that they will someday as they continue getting the right mix of players. This year's team has a good mix of experience and talent. I am pleased to support the Wild. Xcel Energy Center is a great place to take in a hockey game. There isn't a bad seat in the house. It's fun and exciting! The food is decent. I can't wait to return soon to take in another game. Go, Wild! (425)

Minnesota's 2020 team lost, 3-2, to the Seattle Sounders in the Western Conference Finals. Christian Ramirez is the team's all-time top goalscorer with 74 goals scored during his time with the team from 2014 to 2018. However, most of those goals were scored during Minnesota's time in the North American Soccer League (NASL), not MLS. If you count MLS-era goals only, Darwin Quintero owns the team record with 27 goals scored between 2018 and 2019. Robin Lod and Emmanuel Reynoso are the guys to keep your eyes on these days. And speaking of the MLS era, Adrian Heath, who came over from Orlando City SC, has been the team's coach every season so far. Good for the Loons for sticking by Heath for five seasons now. Since the stadium's opening in 2019 (Minnesota's third season), the team has played in Allianz Field in downtown St. Paul. Allianz Field was designed specifically for Minnesota United.
