    Stone Plumbing & Heating

Stone Heating and Plumbing are the go to for heating and plumbing needs…read more I've had the pleasure of working with various staff and they are professional, knowledgeable and very responsive. In a property management role I trusted Stone Heating and Plumbing for multiple building plumbing and heating projects. #waytogoteamstonestaff Patty G.

I hired Stone Plumbing based on their positive reviews for several smaller jobs before they did a…read morefull replumb of my house. They are much more expensive than other companies, but I am okay with that in exchange for high-quality work and customer service. Things were good at first...until they weren't. Overall, I received substandard workmanship that resulted in flooding, thousands in damages, and a company that hides behind insurance adjusters rather than standing by their work. On Christmas Day, a kitchen faucet burst, flooding my first floor and basement. It turns out they screwed the water line to a drafty, single-pane basement window frame instead of structural framing (see photos). The pipe froze as a result of this foreseeable installation error, causing the flood. No one was home, so over $800 in water poured through the house before it was discovered. They made a low-ball offer to settle in exchange for signing a release of liability before turning it over to their insurer, who is refusing to pay for restoration costs, which approach $10,000 so far. Worse, the brand-new plumbing emits periodic loud noises that the company cannot diagnose or fix. One is a banging sound in the shower and the other sounds like a ship blowing its horn...except it comes from the wall behind a toilet. Other contractors also could not diagnose the problem, leaving me with new plumbing that sounds very old. I also paid them to fix a leak coming from a kitchen sink. When it continued to leak, they charged me again, saying it was a "different section" of the same pipe that was leaking. I was skeptical but paid again. Each time I had to open and close a wall to access the pipe. When it kept leaking, they said they would charge me a third time if it's yet another section of the pipe leaking. I hired them to diagnose and fix the leak, not engage in "trial and error plumbing," charging me each time until they got it right. Worst of all, the pipe continued leaking into my wall before I realized it wasn't fixed, likely causing mold and rot that I'll discover years from now. I should have been wary when the person I was working with suddenly left the company before completing the work they quoted me for. Now, I continue discovering shortcuts and mistakes their replacement made, and I suspect there are still more problems. I am not sure how my experience is so different from their online reviews. The sheer number of problems I've had is staggering; it's the kind of performance you expect from an unlicensed amateur, not a premium-priced professional. I will update this review if there are meaningful developments. But if you value your property, time, and money, I would proceed with caution when hiring this company.

Economy Garages in Duluth was supposed to have a good reputation. We signed a contract with them…read morein July of 2016, and even though there was a problem (the problem was not theirs) getting the permit, once the permit was granted we were assured that the garage would be done before the snow flew. Then there was a problem in that the salesman measured the slope of the land improperly so that it took longer (and they tried to charge us another $2,000) to get the excavation done. Then it took another couple of months to get the slab poured. Once the slab was poured we were informed the other cement work (concrete blocks) would be taken care of the next week - you guessed it, it took another month. Once the masons showed up to do the block work, they left a huge sheet of plastic and all the empty cement bags to blow all over our property. Now they finally showed up to do the building, so yesterday when I got home, they had piled a bunch of two by fours right at the foot of the stars to the porch, making it inconvenient (at best) to get in the house if not outright dangerous. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN, nor is there anybody in the world I dislike enough to recommend them. If you value honesty, timeliness, or the ability to follow through on promises, use anyone else. This company is a sick joke.
