I made the trip to…read morethis store because I was rudely treated at another Hallmark store that refused to give me a refund for 2 Mother's Day cards that I bought more than 2 weeks before Mother's Day along with having the original receipt. I called Hallmark Customer Service and they suggested for assistance I go to a corporate location which this was the closest one to me. I called first and talked to the manager on duty named April on 5/5/17. I explained how badly I was treated and she was so kind and told me I could come and return the cards for a refund, no problem. I went to the Hallmark store and was pleasantly surprised how big the store was and how many wonderful gift options are there. I dealt with an associate and a manager about the refund and they gave me no questions, issues or problems because 1. April had filled them in on the fact I was coming in today (5/7/17) and 2. it was a reverse experience to my prior visit at downtown Chicago Hallmark store. Both were friendly, kind and when leaving, wished me a good rest of the day. Thanks to this Hallmark location, I left satisfied. Not all Hallmark stores are the same and I will make sure to be back to this one whenever I'm in the area. Thanks so much!! P.S. Notice the vast difference between the refund policies between the independently owned store and the corporate store in the photo. Wow!

The first associate who was attempting to help her was trying to explain that the item the woman was interested in was an urn. The woman who seemed to have limited English did not comprehend that term, nor did she understand when the associate used cremation. The first associate was patient and speaking to the woman respectfully (I only heard because I was in ear range) although she did not seem to catch on that the woman did not understand the terms she used. The problem came when the second associate, who seemed irritated by the exchange, decided to YELL, "it's for dead people!!" She was so loud that everyone in the store stopped to look. The customer, now understanding but clearly embarrassed, put the item down and walked out. As I tried to explain to the first associate that many Muslim people don't believe in cremation, so those terms were probably foreign to her, I noticed the other associate make a phone call on her personal phone to tell someone about it. I had to wait for her to finish laughing on the phone for her to ring me up! Completely unacceptable!
