As a faithful customer for over a year, I hate to do this. My experience started when i was asked to pay prior to my service being completed, took me a little by surprise I have to say. I showed up for an appointment, with one technician, and it was switched to someone one else. Normally I would have not changed techs, but I just wanted to relax and have my feet pampered. That did NOT happened. A pedicure that normally takes 45 minutes was done in 20. The fact that I flinched several times while she was pushing my cuticles made no difference to her. She just kept going, never checking to see if I was ok, nor did she smooth out my toe nails, as I had to buff the edges myself when I got home. I was not happy with my service, or my tech, and I will not be returning to that technician again. read more

Very disappointed with my first Miniluxe experience. I know this is a training studio; honestly, in the past, I have had better experiences at training locations of larger franchises (for example, the Aveda school vs an Aveda salon) which made me excited to try this studio. In addition to the understandably slow pace (over an hour for a regular manicure) and less-than-perfect technique of my specific technician, the front desk person was chilly and told me there was no availability for me to also get a pedicure, despite the shop being fairly empty and multiple staff doing each other's nails and chatting visibly. She also seemed quite able to kindly make small talk with and take care of other customers. After 3 minutes in the hand dryer, my nails had turned a different color. I am hoping a non-training Miniluxe site is more welcoming, but I am not inspired to find out. The polish issue is concerning regardless of the lackluster customer service, and is not something I've ever experienced at other salons. read more

ONE STAR! I have been going to mini luxe and spending $$$ and am not always satisfied. I expect a lot more when I pay more. I sent my sister there and she had a HORRIBLE experience! They used dirty tools on her feet! The pedicure tub next to her was occupied by someone who then was moved to the manicure table. The technician never cleaned the area, leaving all the dirty tools in the area. The technician working on my sister picked up the dirty tools and used those. It wasn't until my sister noticed that she stopped. And the manager was very nonchalant about the situation.. All they said was "sorry". Hopefully my sister does not have a fungus. She is in contact with the owner. We will never be back! The receptionist is rude and the girls are very catty who work there. I will definitely let people know to spend their money somewhere else! read more

Rikki was the fastest Brazilian wax I've ever had. 10 minutes - that has to be some sort of record. Definitely coming back! Not horrible price either. Worth it for a 10 minute Brazilian. read more

Nope, not worth the extra. Comfort level, zero. Give me those over sized vibrating chairs any day. Design centered custom made joinery doesn't need to be uncomfortable, which it most definitely is. Whilst there I saw two pregnant women looking for alternative wait seating. The chairs for pedicure...forget it. Like sitting on a timber 90 deg angle. I would want a word with the designers, they stuffed up. Service? Nice girls but no added effort. If I'm paying upwards of $44 for a pedicure and I ask about an express manicure as an additional service, then its not in the best interest of business to just throw out ...'no we're booked today'. Rather, offer a resolution. Pedicure? Nice, looks the same as the ones we are all familiar with. Was there an added 'something special' to warrant a return visit? No. Enough said. Nice people but not worth the extra money. read more

This was the worst pedicure experience ever. The staff is terse and unfriendly, the seats are uncomfortable and cramped, and all for a higher price! There were no magazines and you sat so close to the next patron that you came way too close to the dead skin being scraped off their feet. And...it's in West Roxbury...not Chestnut Hill. What a fraud. Go to Centre Street. read more

The place looked great and the people were friendly but I was not impresses with the results. I went in to get a gel. I just wanted the gel not a manicure. I asked the lady at the desk the price and she told me "just the gel is $27". I said Okay I'll take it. The lady that did my gel was nice and she did an okay job. When I went up to pay, the lady at the desk told me $37. She charged me $10 extra to remove my old gel. I could not believe it. I paid her the money and walked out. I'm never going back. My gel looked okay and I just paid $37. I'm going back to my old spot. Gel removal, manicure and gel for only $25 and it looks way better than what I got at Miniluxe. read more

5 STARS....STOP!!!!! except no spring colors until April (some folks do travel in the winter to warmer climates before April) and thongs for sale (something very wrong with this picture)..the music makes me crazy (over and over again) and some tech that won't stop talking LOUD with her customers....I am being nice on this issue...I could say more about this annoyance but won't. I have been going to this location since they opened and love the gals, quality of service and cleanliness but quick....get focused again on the important things that keep customers happy...quietness, stocked colors and less retail products to sell...if I want jewelry and lingerie I will purchase these elsewhere. I hope that management will act on this Yelp... read more

I have been very pleased with the service and nail treatments at Miniluxe, West Roxbury. The location is perfect for me and parking has never been a problem. I go there for a relaxing, spa-like, pampering experience so I never go when I am in a rush. I love the emphasis on good health practices. I have gone to two technicians who are wonderful! They take their time and do a careful thorough job. It is a gift I give myself and I thank you for a great nail salon! read more

I got a gift card from my friend and wanted to use it. I've made an appointment for a pedicure online but could not reserve a French finish , so the receptionist said they can not do French finish today since they have a back to back appointment, and she did not care much that I could not reserve it in advance because of their system!!!!! When you charge 37 bucks for a simple pedicure (they don't even have massage chairs or TVs), and its a very crowded place - people expect an excellent services, otherwise it feels like an overpriced place that uses the advantage of a good location. I would not recommend this place. read more

Worst manicure ever. I could have done a better job at home myself. First time and never again. I am so mad for spending $19 for such crappy service. I'll stick to my other place where i only pay $10-$12 and be fully satisfied. High end doesn't mean better service :( read more

I waited until I had visited this place a few times before writing a review. I've been once for a manicure and pedicure and three times for just a manicure. I was hesitant to visit this salon as it's double what I normally pay for a manicure, however, on average, my manicure lasts seven to 10 days before chipping. I love how they are open late during the week, which makes it very convenient for me to go after work. The staff is super nice, with the exception of one technician. She never said hello to me, nor did she thank me when I placed her tip on the table. I believe she is the exception as everyone else has been very friendly. I recommend this salon to anyone who asks. read more

A follow-up to my recent posting, which expressed disappointment in this salon: Things went from mediocre to worse. A few days after getting a gel manicure, which included some bumps and streaks, the gel began peeling off. This happened just at the point where the polish was thick and uneven, so it was clearly the result of a poorly done manicure. There are things to like about this salon, but I would recommend getting to know the technicians and choosing carefully. Otherwise, you'll get an expensive, 'two-week' manicure that lasts for three days. read more

Wax was a nightmare. Jennifer spoke about her abusive boyfriend and how she gets drunk and parties. Total self consumed, never even asked how I was doing, rushed service! Terrible!! I tried to book an appointment with another waxer but she seems to be the only one available EVER. Will not be going back. read more

I was able to get in for a mani-pedi as a walk in on a sunny Friday afternoon. For that, I give this place 4 stars. The receptionist was very friendly and I was very happy to be accommodated last minute. My manicurist, was very thorough and CLEAN! I was not very happy with the dazzle polish lasting only 4 days, so that is why I give the review 4 stars instead of 5. I was told, it would last 7 days, so was a little disappointed, when it started to chip away after day 4. Next time, I go back to MiniLuxe I will go for the gel manicure. read more

SNARKY Manager!! I think that most women would agree that nowadays, a mani and pedi is the one little escape and calm that we all look forward to. However, that is not what you will get with this branch of Miniluxe. I had made an appointment to have a Shellac manicure. When I arrived I was asked to come back as they were running behind, something I never encounter with the Newbury location, but off I went for 45 minutes. When I came back, I was then told to pick out a color, and to take a seat. Once the nail tech. realized that I had shellac on my nails she said she could not take the appointment as it was only booked for the shellac manicure and not for the removal. I told her that when I booked, I booked for both. The nail tech. explained that it was recorded as only a manicure and asked me to come back ....later...again! No apologies, nothing!! The manager of this location is Snarky and unprofessional! Stay downtown girls! read more

I showed up 10min early to my appt checked in and picked my nail color. I was getting a pedicure and manicure that was going to cost me in total just under $90 before tipping. Not only did they take me 15min late for my appt they then rushed through my appt and cut it short. While I was waiting for my appt to begin the receptionist never acknowledged I had been waiting for a little bit, nor did she offer me anything to drink. Yet everyone who came in after me and was seated before me was offered water or tea. My nails came out ok...def not worth the price. I then asked the receptionist again if I could put a tip on the card when I was leaving. She said no, I asked her if there was a bank near by where I could get cash being I had none on me and her response was, "I don't know and I don't care if you don't have cash on you its not like I did your nails" my mouth nearly dropped to the floor. I expected more being I am a paying customer. And that comment was flat out rude. I don't recommend this place to anyone there is a ton more nail salons that are cheaper and value their paying customers especially in the chestnut hill area. read more
