First, let me say that the Midland Community Center offers a very large range of activities...two…read morepools (lap pool and a large family pool), basketball courts, weight room, racquetball courts...there is definitely a lot to do at the MCC. However, in the past few years they have made visiting completely cost-prohibitive. Do you like to swim to stay in shape? It will cost you $40 a month...and the pool is only open for a few select hours each day for open swim (seriously...go look at their schedule and try to figure out when you can and cannot swim). That, and their lap pool only has 5 lanes, and there were multiple occasions where I had to share lanes with up to 4 people at a time. What if you just want to drop in and run around the track? $7 A DAY. You do get access to their weight room, too, but for $3 more you could just get a MONTHLY membership at Planet Fitness. All membership plans also require an "auto-draft joining fee" of about $100. So, if money isn't an issue and you like to stay in shape, definitely check this place out. However, if you're working with a tight budget, try one of the other gyms in the area, because MCC is one of the most expensive ways to stay in shape in the area, and there are better options out there for far less money

We were in Detroit for…read morea wedding and needed child care for six rambunctious kids ranging from 1 1/2 to 4 1/2 years old. We were able to book CAPEC months in advance, which gave us the peace of mind to book the trip knowing that we had reliable child care in place for the night of the wedding. The reservation process was smooth and easy. I spoke to Ebony by phone and she explained her services and confirmed that she could accommodate the size of our group. Once we decided to book CAPEC, we received a link to fill out all the necessary information online (i.e. allergy information and emergency contacts for each child). We then received a written agreement laying out all the terms and information we needed to plan ahead. Given that we had a large group of six kids, Ebony brought a second staff member, Yolaunda. The two of them came very well prepared with plenty of toys and activities for the kids to play with. As soon as they arrived at the hotel they had the kids engaged with bubbles, balloons, and musical instruments. They also did a great job of comforting/distracting the kids so that the parents could slip out without causing a meltdown. Throughout the evening Ebony texted us updates and pictures of the kids playing and enjoying themselves, which was very reassuring and put our minds at ease so we could enjoy the wedding festivities. When we got back to the hotel at midnight all of the kids were fast asleep. The next morning the kids told us how much fun they had with Ebony and Yolaunda, which is really the best feedback you can get. Thank you Ebony, Yolaunda and Children At Play Event Childcare! The staff are compassionate, trustworthy and enthusiastic about helping the children learn and grow. They are like family to us. There are a lot of activities to keep the children engaged. The facility is clean and the communication is prompt and consistent. Having our girls here takes a lot of burden off of us as parents trusting we have safe and reliable care. We are more than satisfied with our experience at this location and would absolutely recommend it to anyone needing exceptional childcare.

She was accepted into their dance program and recieved a scholarship for dance and merit. I went here with my daughter on Scot Day. That's when kids and parents attend an all day meet the school and faculty and see where your child is going to go(and your money). This turned out to be a great day. I was impressed with the facility. They have a great combination of new and old facilities. We met the new President of the College and many of faculty. The sun was shining, the food was good(they fed us), and the everything went well. My daughter made an observation, "everybody here seems so friendly". Here are a few other things to note about the college.... Alma College boasts a 12:1 student-to-teacher ratio, a liberal arts approach to undergraduate education, over 40 majors, minors and pre-professional programs, the chance to self-design programs of emphasis and an intensive Spring Term that provides opportunities for innovative courses, travel classes, research and internships. Several of my family members have subsequently attended Alma. Alma has certainly prepared me for my further academic pursuits. However, I must still rate it 3 stars, and here is why... The education is strong, but primarily because the students are driven and well picked by admissions. I believe that the students of Alma College would have succeeded and shone brightly anywhere they studied. Unfortunately, the price of Alma is hindering to many of the Graduates given the current economic climate. They put more effort into asking for Alumni donations after you graduate then helping you connect and move up. Some of the professors are remarkable! Some just aren't. There are professors with agendas, as there are everywhere. However, I feel it is obvious at Alma. I would not recommend Alma for the professors in general. When I was a student the interim president made it very clear that student safety was not an agenda! Student congress squanders money, and is cliquey if not down right rigged. The food is great! However, if you look at the price per meal you might wonder if it is worth the price. The campus is beautiful, and the arts are decent. I will stop there. I loved Alma, and I miss it dearly. However, if you are looking to stand out from the crowd then do the work, bleed, sweat, and apply to one of the top 20 colleges in America. If you don't get in then I recommend you take a year to work and travel after high school. When you return find a solid Community or City college with a transfer option to a good state school. Then plan to get your Masters right after. If you are really committed to your field then earn your Ph.D. and go teach at Alma!
