Service: 5 Facility: 5, Products: TBD…read more Our group of 5 came to try out making pottery during the Valentine's Day promotion, which is now sold out. Rakhi and her staff, including Maya and Karis, were fantastic. Our ability to follow directions and create the initial form varied among our group, and some had to restart from the beginning more than once. Maya was very patient with us and adjusted how much she assisted by each person's ability. Knowing we were first timers, the staff were very encouraging and helpful as we selected our shapes and attempted to create them. They also helped us personalize each piece with additional designs, and we're very excited to see how everything turns out. There are two parts to this class, creating a piece for baking and in a few weeks we'll return to paint and glaze the pieces so they're food safe. I think we're going to take a longer course the next time!

I attended a Valentine's Day event last month with The ATX Dog Mom Social Club at The Spinning…read moreWheel. There was confusion over pricing and timing. The event post noted one price and when we got to the event, we were told it would cost extra to glaze the bowl which was a necessary step make the clay piece food-safe. We were making dog bowls so of course we wanted them to be food-safe but it was a bummer that we would have to pay an additional fee on top of what we had already paid. I was charged more than others in my group! We were instructed to make our bowls outside on the picnic tables which weren't flat surfaces. The event poster also stated that we could shape our clay by hand or use the spinning wheel. The spinning wheels weren't even offered to us. Overall, I attended this event to make new friends and create something nice for my dog. I accomplished both so that was a win! While I most likely won't come back, this business is a fun concept that is great for groups of young children and I even saw a mother bring in her young daughter with her to glaze pottery together which was so sweet but the pricing and timing to pick up your artwork could be clearer. Also parking is very limited so park next door at the gymnasium.

Only giving 4 stars because of the location…read more It is in a very small little house and it is almost always packed regardless of day/time of day. Parking is also not great. But their selection of paint and pottery is awesome. I also like the way they allow you to get your own paint unlike some places that limit you to colors. They have really cute pieces to paint and seems like they have a lot of seasonal switch ups which is appreciated. We did a cute little butterbell and it turned out so good!

I'm a sucker for a cute little small business hole in wall. And this place nails that! Plus, I may…read morebe a little biased because my parents used to run a paint it yourself ceramic shop when I was growing up. So places like this are very nostalgic for me. It's very small on the inside, compared to other do-it-yourself ceramic shops that I've been to. But honestly, I found that quite quaint and cozy. I find that their ceramic pieces were pretty affordable compared to some of the other ceramic shops I've been to in Austin. They have their paints separated by brights and detailed versus more earthy tone colors. And unfortunately, they tell you that you shouldn't mix them because they won't come out looking good. So you have to figure out what you want your piece to look like before hand, bright with small details? Or more earthy tones? My husband went with the bright and details, while my friend and I decided to go for earthy tones. My husband painted a wall switch plate, I painted a feather bowl, and my friend painted a mug. They were all done and ready to be picked up about a week and a half later. And they came out great! I enjoyed myself, and my husband and I have already discussed coming back perhaps for a date day :)

It's great that you can ask for more materials if you need them and the pricing is pretty decent for what you get as an experience. There's plenty of parking and the area is decent. The staff was really nice and helpful in any way they could be. the inside of the shop was a lot of fun a lot of paintings and pictures hanging everywhere. This was my first time doing a paint and sip type of event and I really liked it. I would definitely recommended to anyone who wants to try it is a lot of fun. This place had everything we needed and I honestly have no complaints.

My husband proudly announces he can't draw a stick figure, so this was definitely out of his comfort zone, but he willingly joined in the surprise. There are a number of paintings available on different nights, so the first step is to pick the one you want to do. From there, everything is set up for you with a plate of paint colors, a primed canvas, brushes and instruction. There's no presumption that you actually know what to do and Rodd, our instructor explained everything in plain English - not artsy lingo - so that you can follow along. Both instructors were there when you made a mistake or needed assistance or more paint and they were patient through the process. Neither of our paintings will end up in a fancy gallery, but we were happy with our finished works and the two hour class went at the right pace.
