We were riding the Wyoming Backcountry Discovery Route on our Adventure Motorcycles and the day was long in the tooth. Chris greeted us warmly, setting up my buddy and I with a rustic cabin and a lay of the place. It was quiet and peaceful during the night, with comfy beds and electric flannel blankets - WINNER! The bath house was super clean and welcome. The lighting in the cabin was lacking (lamps were too dim) but other than that it was a great place to stay. We met the co-owner Bill before bedding down, who is a really nice guy. In the morning we met his wife Camilla for a great breakfast prepared by her and Chris. We and two other guests, a fellow rider and long-distance hiker (Hi Adam and Daniel!) wound up having an hour-long breakfast and discussion with Camilla, who is just a fantastic woman. We said our goodbyes and continued along the BDR route, really glad for the experience. Truth be told, it was refreshing to meet such genuine people in our oft-times crazy world. Gigantic recommendation!!

I'd come here even it weren't close to the Tetons or the Wind Rivers, simply because of Louise Lake, which one of those picturesque and slightly remote locations that tell you, yes, you're in Wyoming, and yes, it is this scenic in real life, too (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/jakeys-fork-homestead-bed-and-breakfast-dubois?select=cdxVgsY55c2Vsi86mS07gg#N357UsP_mWPjj7n0U5RgVg). But the location doesn't speak for itself. Carolyn does that, based on years of NOLS backcountry guiding and decades of Wyoming homesteading with her daughters. She's one of those pathfinding polymaths for whom running a B&B is simply one act of many. But it's a really virtuoso performance, and while her clientele may be select, they are immensely appreciative of the red-carpet welcome she offers. And if the red carpet isn't enough, ask for the USGS map of Louise Lake and the walking guide to the petroglyphs. Your tired feet will thank you, in the sauna, afterward.

Our gracious innkeeper, Emi, welcomed us in, got us into a room for the night, and offered up all of her maps and guidebooks, as well as her expertise. We were also greeted by the motel dog, Bird, who's an animated critter who goes wherever Emi goes. We had another yummy dinner at the Wind River Brewing Company (which I've also reviewed), and a relaxing evening in our room, which was really two rooms, a living/dining, and bedroom. The front room has a kitchenette as well, but there's really no comfortable way to do any TV watching (a big novelty I enjoy in motels as there is no TV at home) and I think I ended up sitting at the dining table watching it or something else odd. It would also be really cool to see an update to flat screens. The decor is rustic and cute, and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is served between 8 and 9, and it's delicious, homemade, and substantial.
