I visited Catherine for eyelash extensions, and she is absolutely amazing at what she does. Not only is she very patient, kind and skilled, Catherine is also fully licensed which means you will be getting top notch quality products and service! It's helpful to have an idea of what you want your eyelashes to look like, but Catherine still took her time understanding my need. She was also realistic about setting my expectations because the result depends on your already existing eyelashes, but that doesn't mean Catherine won't do magic and all her best to make you look fabulous. My wonderful experience began before I even came in to the salon. While setting up an appointment, Catherine was diligent in explaining what steps I should take prior to coming in, in order to extend the life span of my eyelashes. When I came in for my appointment, I filled out an extensive questionnaire that included very specific instructions for after care. I've had eyelash extensions before and the salon I visited offered none of the care and instructions that Catherine provided. Catharine is the absolute expert. I've been to a handful of places to get lash extensions, and no application has lasted as long as this one! She is extremely thorough, making sure the lashes are cleaned, primed, AND cured afterwards. Nowhere else have I had such a completed procedure, and the efforts made can be seen in the results. Right when you walk in, it smells amazing. It doesn't smell like chemicals like most salons do. They have indoor plants and have some really neat furniture and music that makes you feel instantly relaxed when you walk in. I got cat eyelashes done by Catherine and it turned out so much better than expected, and I had high expectations. She was careful with how she handled my eyes and was extremely knowledgeable with extensions. I trusted her right away! I've never had my lashes handled as gently as she did. I was ready for a change, both in my hair style and my stylist and I found Catherine of Mindfully Beautiful and I'm feeling very grateful. While a bit of a trek out to Pacifica the salon is relatively easy to get to; all be it a bit hidden in the back of the small outside shopping area, there is free parking close by. The salon is nice and comfy and the location is great for a walk on the beach before or after getting your hair done. I had a very short hair cut for the last year or so and while it was great I was thinking I'd actually like to grow it out a bit, so I just didn't get it cut and I ended up with a bushy soccer mom hairdo. I needed help coming up with a transitional cut to help make the time between short-short and medium short a little less painful. Catherine listened to me and we talked about options, I had brought a few photos that I thought might work during this in-between stage if what I had and what I wanted, we looked at them together and talked about what would work for me. Catherine took her time (if you are looking for a quick in and out, this is not the place for you) she was thoughtful and friendly while doing my hair and while my haircut took nearly 90 minutes, I felt like it was worth it. A couple of weeks later I sent my boyfriend for a much needed haircut and his hair looks great too. I'll be back to Paul Strom Salon and Catherine and I might even venture to do some color next time. I hate writing this and wrestled with posting a review for a while but think the story should be told. I had been going to Catherine for eyelash extensions - which was fine (FYI, I've had better)... until I mentioned that I was thinking of dying my hair pink... I wanted something soft/subtle (rose gold ombre with the ends being a pale/pastel pink) and something that I could easily wash out/change (since I mentioned a number of times that I will be getting married in the next year and don't want to do anything too crazy to my hair)... however, I also wanted it to last at least a month or two. Catherine originally mentioned that it could cost anywhere between $500-800 (~$100/hr for color correcting/lifting and saying it could take 3-5 hours for lifting alone) to do it with her. I politely told her I would go to someone else because the pink was just a fun color I wanted to try out. A week or so later she texts me saying she found a way to lighten faster and can get the cost down to somewhere in the $200 range. She appeared to do a lot of homework and said she did tons of fun colors on her daughter and other clients so I figured I'd give it a shot - HUGE MISTAKE. It took us some time to schedule (apparently, she has a hard time getting text messages because of reception in the salon - not really her fault but it makes it super difficult to communicate with her). Once we set an appointment, she set to dying my hair. After 6+ hours at the salon, the pink barely showed. She then told me she could reapply the pink dye and I could go home and sleep with it - the longer the better... something her daughter does all the time. She said that since the dye doesn't seep into the hair, it would just help it last longer. I went home with the dye and a cap, washed it the next morning, and, to my absolute horror, my hair was MAGENTA. I text Catherine for help and she told me to use a clarifying shampoo - didn't help and just dried out my hair even more than it was. I tried to see if she would be able to fix it (you know, so I could go into the outside world) - nope. She wasn't available for the next few days. I cried, got my money back and went to someone else for a fix. I have to note that there was a SEVERE amount of damage done to my hair. The areas she bleached was unsteady at best (you could see horizontal lines and patches of hair that went from light to dark to light again) and I ended up having to cut several inches to try to make my hair look remotely healthy. I also had to spend $500+ to re-dye my hair, deep condition, and treat with a variety of products to care for my hair. I've been to 3 other salons after this incident and each one was horrified at what had happened (NOTE: another salon told me it was ILLEGAL to send clients home with dye in their hair). read more

I was thrilled to hear that Catherine was back in action after a year of quarantine to help me get my style back! Not only did she shape my hair to hang smoothly around my face she is a master hair colorist. She has worked on my gray hair for the past 4 years. When I started graying she did her due diligence in helping to find the right products that wouldn't cause an allergic reaction. I am one of those women whose face swelled with the darker hair colors and needed prescription allergy medication. (This was from another hair stylist, which is why I started with Catherine.) She was able to find the right product on the first try and darkened all of the gray with a blackish/brownish hair dye. Low and behold no swelling, no itching just swag! During quarantine my hair went back to gray. I decided to try something new and went midnight blue. She continued to work on the color until it was perfect. I've had my lashes done by Catherine several times now and I LOVE them! When I started doing this, I thought it would be a one-time splurge, but it has quickly become a necessity. She's incredibly sweet, professional, and takes great care in making sure that she gives you the best lashes you could ever ask for. She'll talk to you about your preferences and what it is you want to achieve and will work with you to come up with a realistic game plan. She's so meticulous and patient so you can be sure that you will leave 1000% satisfied! She also has amazing options for add-ons - you can do glitter lashes, lashes with Swarovski crystals, mink (cruelty free!), silk - you name it, she can do it. Her prices are incredibly fair and competitive. While you can definitely find someone cheaper, the fact is that you get what you pay for. I honestly can't imagine paying any less than what she costs and still get the same quality of service. Aside from the convenience of not having to do a single thing to my eyes everyday, my lashes have become healthier since I'm no longer using an eyelash curler or mascara. I can't praise her enough.
