Update: It seems my initial experience may have been unusual. After finding the problem, Luke finished repairing my computer in less than 24 hours. He even replaced some screws I had taken out because he was worried he lost them. Because of this, I increased the rating I gave to this place. Original Review: Aside from a part-time employee once or twice a week, the branch manager, Luke, is the only guy working at this location. I brought my laptop in last Tuesday (today is the following Monday) because it wasn't posting, and I paid $80* for the diagnostic procedure. I called on Thursday after having not heard anything, and he still hadn't worked on it, and it wasn't until I called this morning (six days later) that I finally got confirmation that he's running the tests. *While the diagnostics cost $80, Lucas informed me that half of that ($40) would go towards the cost of repairs if he is able to fix it. Now, because my computer isn't even posting, I know the test isn't as simple as it is for a computer that simply won't boot or is otherwise not working right, so I can understand that it may take a little longer. I also know that it's a first come first serve establishment and he likely had dozens of computers ahead of mine in line. However, he did not warn me that it would take this long to have my computer looked at, and in fact implied multiple times that the work would be done much sooner, including when I called on Thursday to which he said he would likely have it done that afternoon. I am a very understanding person, and I love supporting local businesses. Lucas seems like a nice guy who's just a little in over his head. I'm just losing patience right now because it's finals week in college, and I have had to do my studying on a chromebook loaned to me by the library. Very inconvenient and frustrating! As for the other services and the custom-built PCs sold there, I am not very knowledgeable. Lucas seems like he knows a lot about computers, so I would assume the builds he sells are very nice. Milwaukee PC also does video digitization, which I may do in the future because I have a lot of home videos on Mini-DV tapes (I know that's technically already a digital format but I don't have anything to convert them). I will probably just go to Best Buy if my computer breaks again though. read more

My laptop was reeeaaalllyy slow at start-up, opening apps, etc. I thought it was a RAM or processing speed issue, so I asked them what it would cost to add RAM, if it could be done. Lucas explained that the issue was actually an old hard drive (about 10 years old) and that replacing it would make my laptop run better than a new one. He walked me through some software I would lose, as well as how to reinstall it. The main one was my MS Office suite. He explained that I should be able to go to Office.com, log in, and download the software that I previously purchased and re-load it from the site. I trusted his expertise, took my laptop home, backed-up key files, removed files with personal information, and took the laptop back to get a new hard drive. He told me it would take about a week. A week later, they called me to pick up my laptop. They completed a back-up process, installed the new drive, and re-loaded Windows 10. The laptop starts up blazingly fast! I was also able to go to Office.com to re-load the MS Office suite that I purchased back in 2013! Compared to the cost of a new laptop, this was a no-brainer, and I'm thrilled with the results and service I received from Lucas and this Milwaukee PC location on Bluemound Rd. read more

I was having an issue with my eight year old Toshiba laptop and went to Milwaukee PC (Bluemound Road) to trouble-shoot the problem. There, I met with the branch manager, Lucas Gosling. Lucas and I discussed the issue and then talked tech in relation to what my choices were. This is the crux of my rating for the store. It is all about Lucas. Lucas was not only knowledgeable and informative, but he was forthright and honest. During my time with him, I observed and overheard him interacting with other customers. I was impressed with his direct, no nonsense and purposeful handling of the others' situations as well. Due to the fact that Lucas runs this shop and everything I have indicated, I will be using his services from now on and recommend the shop to others, as well. read more

I had a problem with my pc and they fixed it. I ran into another problem again with the same pc and they worked it out with me with next to no problems. I Will revisit Milwaukee PC in the future if I encounter or experience any further complications to work it out with them. This is the original Milwaukee PC store. They have been my internet provider for at least 15 years now with very few glitches. Recently, we have been experiencing a big glitch. No internet connection. No internet + a wife that works from home = a pissed off wife. After a call was placed to the phone provider for verification that the line was OK, I brought my modem in to the store to have them check it out. In two minutes it was tested and a new one recommended. The fine fellow (I'm guessing a big fan of Game of Thrones) took it out of the box and set it up for me right in the store. He even went through troubleshooting scenarios for when I got home. Good thing he did. It was not exactly plug and play, but in two minutes I had restored internet service to the house. The wife will be happy, therefore, I am happy. This was just another example of fine fast service from the geeks at MilwPC. Thanks guys! read more

I had to get a new wifi router and the guy who helped me out really was useless. He used lots of computer lingo and I even had a buddy show up to interpret what he was saying and was still stumped. So I spent over $100 on something I really didn't need for the item to work very flaky. So if you want to get any value go else where. If I could give a negative rating I would. Good luck. read more

It would be great to have them stay on the phone long enough to actually answer any questions that you might have instead of hanging up on someone. You should train your employees how to handle sales calls. Next time Luke, you should be a little bit more professional about it. Lost a future customer. read more

I had them build a computer for me. I told him to install everything I would need, given my work circumstances. Within a month of receiving my computer, it became infected with a number of viruses and worms. I returned it to the store,and they told me I needed additional software to protect my computer, which was what I had asked for in the first place. Once they finished working on the computer, they said they would call me and let me know that it was ready, which they did not. I do not recommend this company and particularly the store. read more

I decided to try Milwaukee PC after having sub par results from Time Warner (shared access, paid for 30mb download but was only getting 7) and AT&T who was very good until I moved to a new location but I have been dealing with no/or lost signal for 3 months plus an unburied cable across the yard for that same time frame. When I ordered the service from Milw PC I was told I had a 1 year verbal agreement from the date of install, I asked who it was through and she replied we have our own lines. Then I was told it would take a month to get it hooked up, I said ok, I'll keep AT&T until then. 3 1/2 weeks later AT&T shows up to install internet, after 10 minutes he told me it was for Milwaukee PC, I then asked, "IF I am having problems with AT&T now, will I have the same problems with this new service, he said yes. I then said the problem is down the street and they are trying to fix it so hold off on the Milwaukee PC install until it gets fixed. (Mind you, Milw PC is $5 more per month for 5mb less download speed but that isn't the problem, I want it to WORK) So now the Manager from the S 27th St location in Milwaukee called me threatening me that I signed a CONTRACT and that I had to have it installed. I told him I was only holding off til it gets fixed by AT&T and he says it doesn't matter, I had to have it installed now. So I said fine, take me to court, how are you going to sue me for something that I never received nor was it installed? Until he apologizes, I am going to make my story well known, and if that doesn't work, I will contact FOX6 and have them investigate a business that uses intimidation tactics. read more

Our lab needed a new (custom) computer to replace an older one that failed and left us unable to use a piece of equipment. After a phone call to explain exactly what we needed to run the equipment, they built the computer in less than 24 hours and it has worked flawlessly for ~4 months. They also provide a "clean" operating system - no extra garbage software installed. We got exactly what we needed very quickly for a great price. read more
