This is a review about St. Charles Borromeo Church because I am not familiar with the school. The…read morechurch is in a residential area in the south part of Milwaukee near the boundaries of Oak Creek and Greenfield. It is located on 31st and Marilyn. The Mass schedule on Sunday is 7 am, 9am, and 11 am. Fr. Carmelo Guiffre is great and so are the Xaverian Fathers who help out with both Sunday and daily Masses. Another great thing about this church is that there is a daily Mass everyday at 7 am, 8:30 am on Wednesday when school is in session.

I recently was given a wonderful tour of Journey21, which is best described on their own website:…read more "Journey21 was founded in 2021 with a mission to provide safe, supportive, and enriching living and learning options for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) in Waukesha County and surrounding communities. Our vision is a day when every adult with IDD has accessible, meaningful opportunities for education, employment skill development, social activities, and can live independently in the home of their choice." As I entered the building, I was in a bright and welcoming foyer, which set the tone for the entire location. Every staff member was beyond friendly, and there is obviously great pride in their work. Educational areas are superbly well-appointed, organized, and calm. While state-of-the-art technology was evident everywhere, there is also a very personal and hands-on strategy in each classroom. Very detailed activity schedules are posted clearly, and I could not think of anything that could be missing. I met some of the students and saw happy and well cared for individuals. The future will include residential living next to this academy. I can see this becoming a huge benefit for so many IDD adults and their families. But, I am also very impressed that decisions and plans are made with no rush, but with true intention. And I feel all decisions are made with every member at the forefront of these choices. Simply put, this is a wonderful asset to the area and those who need specialized education. I am so impressed and will continue to follow the progress of Journey21 as they expand and grow.

This is Walker Elementary School for those who do not know. They offer kindergarten to sixth grade…read more I went here in the 80's and at the time Mr. Cumber was the principle at that time. Both of my sisters who are older than I am went here as well. This is a older school, but a good one. Hopefully, times have changed, as back then they did not have special programs for kids with ADD/ADHD and put everyone into the same category. The playground here is extremely old, that should be remodeled. They had really good teachers back in the days, ones that worked here for 20-30 years. My kindergarten teacher was Mrs Carrnot, or something like that. She was probably almost 60. My 1st grade teacher was Mrs Rice and my 5th was Mary Elm. She pasted away last year and worked at the school for probably 35 years. She was amazing. The lunch program here was really good. After I left and went to middle school, school lunch was a joke. Wow, I recall the blue milk tickets sold her at the book store for 5 cents. During the summer they have the walker school rummage sale, which is a cool event where locals sell goods on the school playground lot.

They are taking donations on their facebook page with proceeds going to their school. Otherwise it's totally free to visit. It's advisable to bring your own small ladder to get some cool shots. We were lucky enough to use someone elses. We also had our daughter take some shots off the roof of our SUV. Supervised of course. It was about 35 minutes from Milwaukee and the views are pretty awesome. They ask that you don't cross the ropes and some have damaged the sunflowers immediately in the first few rows carving smiles or other symbols on them. The sunflowers themselves range from under 5 feet to over 8 feet which is why I recommend a ladder. It was a nice country drive and a chance to get some fresh air. We really enjoyed visiting.

They're efficient, and since it's somewhat small, you get lots of personal attention. (and I've been at an institute with lots of people) you want it to be small. Trust me. They're also very open to feedback, and willing to help if you have a problem. Parking can be annoying, as they don't really have their own lot, but it's not terrible. You can usually get a spot. And the bathroom is in the basement. But those aren't the things to focus on when it comes to a Montessori institute where you're going to become a teacher.
