Several other types of crafts were…read morehappening at the same time, which was cool but it took away from what I think could be a more organized experience, as staff were pulled in multiple different directions. Example: We had to find staff to ask questions or move on to the next step rather than being supervised/guided along the way. Perhaps more staggered starting times would allow each person or group to receive more focused attention. Overall, we had a fun time and it did feel fairly hands on. I think the quality of wood could be better, though.

My family and I did a workshop at Fisk. For the price, I expected quality. But, we are thoroughly…read moredisappointed. First, it was over crowded. They were so busy that it felt like our group was an afterthought. We received basic instructions and then we were left on our own until we flagged someone down to tell them we were finished. Half of the epoxy cured in the cup so it was wasted. They didn't warn us this could happen. Instead of giving us more, they said they would fix it. Then, the our finished projects were atrocious! The hardware quality on the river boards was subpar. They used screws with little grooves making it questionably food safe. The wood was cracked on one of them. The coasters were uneven and incredibly thick making them unusable as coasters. The lazy Susan looked unfinished. The epoxy wasn't trimmed around the edges and the hardware is visible under the epoxy. So, we asked them to fix it and they kindly agreed. We received a refund for 2 of the coasters. Then, it took well over a month to receive the fixed products during which we had to follow up a few times. The final products are better-ish, but they are full of visible brush strokes of clear epoxy (apparently this is the solution to epoxy that cured before we could use it). All in all, we had a lot of fun together but the service is subpar and the products are not what I would expect for the price. I will not be back nor would I recommend Fisk as the destination for this experience.

Thankfully, The ABK Weaving Center exists. Now I'm hooked! There is so much knowledge & years of experience in this room. The teachers are wonderful & patience, always willing to take the time to explain, what seem to be intricacies. The students, some who have been weaving for decades are so kind & willing to share their knowledge. Take a class! You won't regret it.

THE NBS - Milwaukee rocks! I was skeptical about signing up…read morefor a "bartenders school" after reading myriad bad reviews of a number of schools in Wisconsin, both in Milwaukee and Madison. This school is the real deal. I learned from an experienced bartender with 10 years of experience. That alone was worth the price of admission, but when she added her experience to hands on exercises in mixology, free pouring, bottle identity and history, everything just came to life. Our instructor, Emilee brought our class up to a working knowledge level of bar etiquette, mixology, legal and operational requirements. She added anecdotal knowledge at every step. I feel ready for my first real bartender's job! I have a great start toward being a real Sling King. Paul and Megan were invaluable answering questions, signing me up and getting me connected with the on-line aspect of the school. The on-line course was very complete and easy to follow with videos on all sections and most drinks. That followed by the hands-on learning in class was an outstanding combination! Don't think about this....just sign up. You will love it!!

I'm super excited of getting to try my skills in the field now !!!!

It can be a little intimidating knowing some of these clients have been coming here 20 years or more but they are fantastic! They know we are students and are extremely appreciative and also give feedback to help us improve. Here we are taught multiple services that other schools are not such as microdermabrasion (my favorite), dermaplaning, and multiple types chemical peels. Not only are we taught how to perform these services but taught the knowledge on how they will benefit particular skin type(s). When knowing those two key factors you will provide your client with the results that he/she is looking for. Another thing that you will get from this school that you will not get from any other school is knowledge of all Gail's experience. It is one thing to learn from a book but it is another thing when you have someone with 30+ years share all of her knowledge, experiences, and even some mistakes she's made. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and passionate. I graduate in approximately two months and I'll be back as a client and to say hi to those who taught us so well!

The lady that…read moretaught the class was excellent but this Gail lady seemed to have a problem with people of color. I remember her stopping in the class and staring at me. I wasn't sure what was happening but continued to ignore her and then she started acting as if I was stinky because then began spraying air fresher. The whole class felt uncomfortable. I wanted to take a full course but NOPE that lady is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs and should not run a school if she can't handle dealing with a diverse population. When I finished the course she said the certificates would be mailed but I never received mine and had to call regarding it. She claimed it was placed in the mail and it would be expensive to reprint. She finally reprinted it but told me to come and pick it up. I would not recommend this place!
