The caregiver apologized but I was so mad and shocked I scooped my daughter up and hugged her (tears in her eyes). Prior to this an emploee had been fired. While the manager and her assistant were not in the building this 2to 3 year old classroom employees let the fired person into the building, and into the classroom. My daughter told me this. I went to the manager but she said she did not believe it. Two days later she told me it had actually happened I already knew this! I was upset when a coworker's son was slapped across the face when she came into the room. This was around 2002. The manager said it was my word against the caregivers word as to abusing my daughter. We stopped our enrollment and went to Elmbrook Church (ECCEC). That was the most wonderful experience. caregivers were adults who were mothers. They were loving, patient and understood how to redirect children. I have other stories about the care, or lack of care and lack of compassion that occurred at Bright Horizons. I speak only the truth of my experience. If Bright Horizons is not happy - neither was I. Maybe they have changed but this is a review of my experience and a small part of a bad overall experience. My daughter is now in Law School.

I have had no concerns over my child's safety or well-being while attending the Ark. The staff all knew my child's name (even the ones who do not work in his class) within a week and greet him by name when we walk in. During the COVID shutdowns, the center was very flexible and showed exceptional willingness to with work families who were financially impacted. The teachers and staff at the Ark are exceptionally caring and compassionate. They are phenomenal teachers but also just amazing caregivers. If you are looking for a cold, institutional feeling childcare center, this is not the place for you. The Ark feels more like a family. I've watched several children, mine included, greet their teachers with hugs in the morning, and I've seen teachers brushing and braiding little girls' hair. Small details like that show me how much passion the teachers have for their jobs and love they have for the students. Academically, my child has excelled. He is excited about learning and has picked up some impressive social and emotional skills. The center itself is not fancy or state of the art, but it always smells clean (like soap) and they have excellent age appropriate books, toys, and supplies in each room. The only thing I can say that's less than positive is that the Ark routinely as a long waitlist, so if you are looking to join them, you may need to plan ahead by a few months.
