Theirs two things that I want to share. One everyone is trying to learn and MATC has the opportunity. Their curriculum, teachers and programs are great. The adult student that thinks their to old for school try MATC. Second, that isn't all that great, but its the price of going to a good school is that some classes you have to take a 1 and a 2 for it to be counted as a 1 at a 4 year college.

They have experienced/learned nothing regarding stem cell research due to the fact that Marquette is a religious school. COVID threw a wrench in their studies but there wasn't ANY preparation for jobs and the real world. Nothing helping them get internships whatsoever. My girls would have gone in as Jr's but Marquette doesn't accept any AP scores for credit for any classes regarding their majors, being in the "honors" program NONE of their AP scores counted for even CORE classes. Friends kids went to IIT and graduated in 4 yrs with their Masters degrees. Honors degrees mean NOTHING. I could have saved the $ by them going in as Jr's or they could have received Masters or double Majors at any other school. Forget trying to get into the dental program unless someone in the family is already a dentist or dr. Just about every student accepted into this program has a family member who is already or family has donated $$ to the school. On top of that Milwaukee is getting more and more dangerous. The Citgo gas station on State between 15th & 16th is prob one of the worst areas to be. Shootings weekly if not more often, most if the student apartments are in this area just 1/2 block south. My daughters were in a club and came out to find a crime scene roped off because someone had been shot right outside and had no clue this was going on. They had to walk two blocks through it to get to their Uber rides! Guidance counselors are a joke. Mentors are a joke. No support no guidance no help, just a minimal undergrad worth $21/hr that you can make at your local Walmart without having to spend $150k for the basically useless degree

The president of Alverno, Christy Brown, made the decision to sell Alverno's Early Learning Center suddenly and quietly leaving the families who use the center and the staff that work their in shambles. While the center over time was used more by the community than faculty and students, it was still there to help students of alverno go to school while having a safe and trusted place close by for their children. The early learning center also provided jobs to Alverno students, which the president did not even know about because she couldn't care less about anything thats not bringing in enough money. When informing families about this change, most of the families enrolled are now looking for childcare elsewhere because they dont align with UCC's policies. Alverno showing it's true colors yet again by not allowing reimbursments for families who are being pushed out of the center. Families are now out thousands of dollars for care they're not even receiving because of Christy Browns choices with the future of Alverno. Christy Brown is giving poor and negligent responses to families and stating that Alverno is in the business of higher education, not daycare. This also proves that Christy Brown is not interested in serving the students and staff of Alverno but looking at what profits the most. With Alverno cutting a variety of majors, Alverno is an overpriced institution and you can get the same education at a technical college for a fraction of the price.

I feel as tho this is a predominately white school because I had so many issues with the transfer counselor, he was horrible at communicating he rarely returned my calls in a timely manner; He never sent any information about what all would take place but some how had notes saying we discussed things. He didn't send me anything far as login information or school emails, I was registered late for classes because he told me one date and the schedule date for enrollment was two months prior. Then I received a bill completely different from what I had originally received and after speaking to the lady who handles the bills they were expecting me to pay $412.85 now and the turn around on the 1st of February to pay the same amount. Keep in mind all of the information and class stuff was handle a week before school was about to start. I feel like if you are of color this is not a school for you and it shows and if you are over the age of 25 trying to attend just don't bother because they mostly have students who are mostly high school graduates. And to end it all they do not even sell books at the school. Very unprofessional and the worst experience with a college and I mean to the point that I withdrew from the school!!!!

It was intimidating walking in and seeing all the gorgeous works but everyone there was incredibly welcoming and that extended into the Hand Building I class that I took. The instructor, Lila, was engaging, exciting, and incredibly knowledgeable (and she brought in fresh bread one week!). The class was a touch more free-range and self-directed than I expected but in the end I think that was really for the best - it pushed me to dive into my own creativity (what little there is) and in the end I will be walking away with a handful of fun pieces. I absolutely intend to come back for more classes and potentially signing up for a membership. First I was told that I could take a class in place of a Math foundation course. I took the course in place of the Math foundation course, passed the course with an A and paid for the course in full. I was told by a student that the Master's emphasis program I had chosen was being eliminated and was going to be a health care administration emphasis program and not the health and human services program I had enrolled in. When I switched my emphasis program from the now healthcare administration program I was told I would now have to take the Math foundation course and the class I took in place of the Math would be considered an elective. This now meant I had to pay for an additional class, and graduate at a later time. I was told even though this was not my error. If I wanted to complete any Master's program I had to take this Math foundation course. I spoke to directors in Milwaukee and in Iowa at their main campus about this major mistake made on the part of Upper Iowa. No one cared and simply told me there was nothing they could do. DO NOT give your money to this school. They are unorganized and if your not paying attention more classes will be added to your emphasis program or the emphasis program will be changed without your knowledge. The advisors are there to sell you an education and their sales pitch sounds great until you are enrolled. The program director at this campus will speak to you as if your in the wrong even when you have documentation to support what your saying. If it seems to good to be true..it is.
