Happy is the Theme
In a leafy Monifieth, on the banks of Brought Ferry, The Milton Inn is a contemporary pub with warm red walls, open log fires and is generally a happy place. And while on this happy theme, the service from the young staff is excellent, both friendly and efficient, reflecting what seems to be a happy team stuck in a happy place. Too much happy? No, just about right...
The menu's varied, covering the usual pub favourites from fish and chips to roasts, as well as the likes of goats' cheese and tomato salad and chargrilled oriental duck, in addition to daily specials. The dishes are made in-house and include plenty of locally sourced ingredients. The bar stocks a range of Scottish real ales, periodically including Angus Ales and ales from the new Mòr brewery at Kellas, a full complement of Angus whiskies and a good wine list.
There were a few grumbles from our table of 11 about food quality "steak pie lacking gravy" and "burger over salted with dry bun", but on the whole all seemed to enjoy their large platefuls, but maybe that's more to do with the good company and atmosphere?
