I hadn't visited a Weatherspoon for quite a long time, but my previous experiences of eating in them had always been pretty poor, amazingly cheap but rubbish quality. The decor was as I would expect, adequate but soulless. I was however immediately impressed by the new menu design and options. The prices were all still incredibly cheap so although the menu appealed to me I didn't hold any high hopes! I went for a gourmet burger, that came with fries, onion rings and a pint for a mere £6.99. The "free drink" choices were extensive so I was impressed with that alone. I also ordered a children's spag bol for my 1.5 year old son. The food arrived and I was immediately surprised by how good it looked. The giant burger stack was presented really well, the bun was fresh and lightly toasted, the burger was thick and juicy. I couldn't quite believe my eyes or taste buds! Now for £6.99 I have no doubt in my mind these weren't the finest ingredients (quite possibly even horse), but I didn't actually care as it tasted great. My son also wolfed down almost all of his meal and the bit I tried was not the bland tasteless sauce I was expecting, but flavorsome and meaty. If you haven't tried a Weatherspoon in a while and want a cheap meal out then I can't recommend enough for value for money!

Purchase the breakfast for a huge breakfast spread with both self serve and menus items to choose from. Rooms are spacious with floor to ceiling views of the waterfront. We were surprised by a wall of storage cabinets and a huge tub to soak in plus a bonus spa on site! We will be staying here on our return visit.

The food is great (Indian). The rooms are good and reasonably large although a couple of the single rooms I didn't like because the bed was parallel to the door and you slept either facing the wall or facing the door with the light shining through the slight gap at the bottom - yes fussy but soon got to know which rooms to ask for! The decor of many of the rooms is different (different nice not different poor) - room 8!

Even on Christmas Day they managed to serve bangers and mash to the room!! The bar staff and mixologists were blinking brilliant and I had one too many in the end, as they were just so yummy, and willing to try various and random changes to come up with variants of classic favourites. The bed was lush and a really good size. I would 100% stay here again. The only reason not 5* is due to some decor issues in the room, but was very nearly a 5!
