This was a nice find in rural Portland TN. Very comfortable and quaint breakfast cafe with awesome food and coffee! I was splendidly surprised with the delicious taste! I ordered the dark chocolate mocha latte and it was delicious. The way they froth and the dark chocolate they used made all the difference as it was very smooth to drink. I got the breakfast burrito bowl with chorizo and it was also so delicious. The chorizo had very good flavor, the potatoes were correctly browned and had a light crisp to them. This place is amazing! Hard to believe it exists in Portland. We've had breakfast here before but this review is about the lunch. I got the smash burger with cheese sauce on top with sautéed onions. Just moved here to Portland. oFirst 3 times, I only came for coffee coz the place was always packed. Today, I finally came for food, and Milo's did not disappoint. There were 4 of us. The pancakes were excellent, they didn't give me cottonmouth like pancakes sometimes fox Their whipped butter was semi-sweet which was delish. Anything with chorizo was excellent. Their hot sauces were great and the coffee bean they use for their coffee and espresso drinks is very good. Last but not least, the service staff are very friendly and attentive. Oh how I love this place. And today, went zooming in there at 1:35pm and they were so gracious to still seat me and two companions. I really needed a Milo Burger. Have you tried them? All their burgers are delicious, but that's the original no frills meaty burger, smashed and cheesy. Perfect amount of vegetables for topping, and just that little bit of greasy too to make it juicy and delicious. The house potatoes are perfect, the fries are too. Worth the high rating. Wonderful unique menu items and all full of flavors. Burger was quality meat and that cheese sauce...wow, I felt like a kid again. I've had the V&A wrap before and it was also great. Well prepared, quality ingredients. Service for this small town shop was on point. The food here is very good and the quality doesn't change whether you're picking up the food or eating there! I have tried a lot from this restaurant and here's 3 pictures I could find that I took! Their breakfast food is so good and they have plenty of options ranging from sweet to savory! I will say, the carne asada bowl wasn't my favorite but the chilaquiles there are more than delicious! Was able to check off a restaurant from my list...Milo Cafe in Portland, TN. While this is a specialty coffee shop with food it is much more. There are games and books that people can read/play while enjoying the coffee served here...more like a community spot versus just a restaurant. The coffee...I had an Americano that was really good and the beans used were from a Nashville roaster. I tried the Cuban and it was a solid sandwich served with a side salad and the house potatoes. Now while the sandwich was good...those house potatoes were exceptional. But overall...the lunch special is a solid deal. I need to try and sample the breakfast menu here too. read more

This place. It is the best kept secret in Middle Tennessee. Very soon the line will be out the door and down the street every day. And I will be in it. The vibe, the music, the ambience, the service, the menu, the variety, the uniqueness of the dishes... all phenomenal. But... the food. It outdoes all the rest. This is a must try! Visited on a whim while in the area and pleasantly surprised. I haven't been able to get a decent breakfast burrito in middle tn. This place came out of nowhere and delivered big. Great execution. Bagel sandwich was worth a photo and tasted like it. Pancake doesn't even need syrup, tender, hot. Accompanied perfectly with some fruit and whipped butter. Coffees even stood out. I had the French toast and it was fresh, warm and had strawberries, blue berries and bacon with it. I've eaten French toast my whole life and think Milo's is one of the best! My Granny used to make it for us when we were little. When we had no syrup, she let us put sugar on it. No need for sugar at Milos! It's fluffy, not greasy and tastes like what my Granny made for me when we were younger. You should try it... you won't regret it! read more

This is my absolute favorite part about Portland. This place is better than your average coffee joint. On one side you have a restaurant and the other side you have a coffee shop. It makes for the best takeout or dining in experience. You need to pick up your food quickly? This is your place. You walk in when your food is supposed to be ready and it's sitting on their counter in a bag with your name and order stapled to your bag on the coffee shop side. No waiting for a waitress to stop taking an order to get your food. It is so so convenient! The food and coffee will bring a smile to your face and the cost is seriously cheap for what you get! I'm sad I have to leave this place here haha. It's a gem and Portland is lucky to have it! The only downside I've found has to do with the online ordering. It's convenient and quick, but for someone who doesn't really know coffee outside of ordering from Starbucks, it's hard to figure out what the best way to customize your drink without makin extra work for the barista and makin a $5 drink turn into a $8 drink lol. Also, I don't know how the time it's gonna be ready is determined online, but I feel like it takes longer to get your food if you order online rather than in person. I could be wrong. The California Brunch Wrap with steak is where it's at. I can't get enough of this wrap haha. It comes with chipotle sauce which is too spicy for me so I have them take it off and honestly it's just as good as if it had a sauce. They season the steak so well and it's not dry at all. It's so flavorful and the perfect size. Dip it in your eggs and it's perfect. The house potatoes were yummy. Out of the couple of times I've gotten them, only one of the times I thought they over seasoned them. They're on the salty side tho so if you are sensitive to salt, you might want to ask them if they can hold the salt before you order them. The Milo Burger wasn't terrible. It wasn't great either. It's kinda forgettable. The bacon was rubbery and I don't know if they actually remembered to put the sauce on it or not lol. I couldn't taste it. Our orders were right every time we ordered, which is rare for most places now days. Especially when it comes to take out. The staff is wonderful to talk to and they're truly helpful. They are all very friendly and knowledgeable. If I lived here, I could see myself bein a regular just because of the staff here. You don't get this kind of service at big chain places. They keep the place clean and they are quick on top of it. I will try to find a reason just to stop here again the next time we come down this way lol. read more

Saw this place and decided to come try it out. I'm a big coffee snob so I have high expectations. The design is great I love that they took an old crappy looking building and fixed it up really nice. They have food as well as coffee which seems to be a division separated by only a tiny arch. You can eat in the restaurant section or order a coffee. Standard coffee selections but it's legit. I got my usual double espresso poured over ice and the girl started to make it without hesitation or questions. I have a pretty unique order - a double espresso poured over ice. The drinks came quick and I enjoyed the quality of the drink. My only disappointment is that they didn't have fresh cream out like every other coffee shop known to history. They opted for a bucket of half and half creamers. Not saying they weren't fresh but with a carafe of cream that's cold - you at least can put as much as you want in without creating a bunch of little plastic pieces of trash. All in all - it looks good and I will return for a brunch and try these delicious looking sauces. maybe. So good to see this place pop up into an otherwise desolate town. Update: 20 APR 19 Returned because I wanted to try the food menu. Checked the hours on my phone and noticed it said they close at 16h. Show up and the place is super nice and clean. I see a sign that says 'please seat yourself'. Sat down and not two seconds later the girl who worked at the coffee bar said the kitchen is closed. (It closes at 14h and I look at my watch and it's 14:35) super disappointed. She said coffee was open until 4. I was hungry so I opted to go next door to the Mexican place. I wish I'd discovered this place sooner! Once another location in Portland stopped serving breakfast last year I didn't think you could get a hot breakfast outside of a fast food place in town. Then I learned that Milo's does breakfast and brunch on the weekends so we stopped in. So, they have a large coffee menu and we did our best to try a bunch of it to warm up on a cold day. The coffee (lattes, mochas, regular drip) were great...and the breakfast was excellent! There's a wide menu of choices but we tried a sampler platter with pancakes (super fluffy and soft), eggs (cooked just as we ordered), sausage, bacon, smoked sausages, homefries...all great. Plus, prices are better than fair (they aren't doing like Hendersonville yet and giving you the Nashville price points), the building is very nice, and the service is super friendly. The place is located on the old city square so there is the original exposed brick and Edison bulb lighting like everywhere rustic looking these days but it's welcoming. Coffee is okay. This place is great! Sometimes a little pricy depending on what you want, but overall worth the money. I don't think in the dozens of times my family has eaten here that we have ever had an issue. Omelets, monte cristos, french toast with marscapone .... it is all so tasty! As far as the drinks, we can recommend the lattes (hot or iced), matcha teas ... well, pretty much anything we've tried has been lovely. Good coffee shop/restaurant atmosphere here as well. They also do to-go orders (which still allowed us to enjoy their menu during the throes of the COVID pandemic. Definitelly a good place to patronize if you are in the area! read more

As far as a small town coffee shop goes, this really is an amazing place. It's relatively spacious inside with two different seating areas divided by a wall. It didn't take them that long to make my drink. I ordered an iced mocha. It tasted wonderful, and sweet enough. I would recommend going here. read more

Unique sandwiches, wraps, and dishes. Protein shakes are good. Never actually had their coffee, but I hear it's good too.

This was hands down one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. I were staying in White House on our way up 65. Our hotels breakfast lacked a lot to be desired so I hopped on yelp and found this place. It was well worth the extra few minutes off the interstate. I got the breakfast version of the hot brown, my hubs got the Paisa Omelet, then we split the milo French toast. It was all to die for. The decor was also super charming and the atmosphere was pleasant. I sadly don't know when I'll be near here again but if I ever am you can bet I'm stopping. read more
