We eat here whenever we have company or special occasions. We are poor, so we only spend money on good places. Building's history (and they will share it) is amazing. My one less star is simply a personal issue with the newer staff (I had never seen the bartender or manager before). They have several who should not be servers, at all. They obviously don't want to be there. We tried to mention our concern, but the manager who came over smelled so bad, I couldn't eat anymore. I love Milner's. I love the atmosphere, the people, the energy, and their attention and care in restoring a historic building in downtown. But they cannot -- or will not -- serve bacon extra crisp even when you ask. So many of their dishes include bacon, which for me is a food group. So it is my third time requesting extra crispy bacon on my smoked turkey club nestled in a wonderful croissant and was delivered fatty, limp and barely cooked bacon. Now before y'all snort and exclaim: "Third time? Why?" Well, I live my life with hope and forgiveness, but this time I'm over it. Back in Twin visiting the in-laws. First time trying this place. The working brewery meets gastropub theme really works. I has the halibut fish and chips with a brown ale. Excellent. Went in here with my wife, son, and his friend to have a beer. I decided to get something to eat as well. My son said he had the fish and chips previously and they were good so I decided that's what I would have, I love halibut! When it arrived it was so dark that it was clearly overcooked. It's not really my style to send food back but these fillets could barely be cut. The server handled it very well and said she would have it redone and the manager came out and apologized as well. I would have been fine except the re-do was only slightly better. It should have been pretty clear that this was overcooked again. I wasn't charged for the meal but I would have gladly paid the $15 for some good halibut. On a better note the beer was pretty good, it's a really cool facility, and the service was good. As I look at the other reviews it would seem that I was unlucky and got a new cook. read more

I have been waited for Milners Gate to receive the oky-doky to brew their beer and it is fantastic! Having moved from the Denver metro area I know what a brew pub can and should be. Banh mi was good, burger was overcooked. Buffalo cauliflower and curds were good but our server was super rude. She had us yelling out our drink orders as she stood at one end of a 12 person table, yelling anyone else?....anybody else. Very strange. Aside from that, the place looks great and has great space. This was the second time we stopped here while traveling, and it will be the last. The beer was great, and the food was okay, but nothing extraordinary. The service was downright poor, as if none of the employees really cared about their job. Despite three open tables outside and a half empty dining room, we were told that we would have to wait 35 minutes. When we finally got to our table about 30 minutes later, the waitress came fairly quickly, and we got our beers in about another 10 minutes, but the food wait seemed as if perhaps she had forgotten to turn in the order. She brought my salad, but not my husband's burger, and stopped briefly later to say she was sorry the burger was taking so long. His burger arrived at least 20 minutes after my salad. She never came back to check on us, and we ended up being there at least an hour and a half. read more

Was a little nervous walking in because there weren't many other customers at 7pm, but it WAS a Monday night. Really upscale feel to the restaurant though and the menu was great, so we stuck with our gut and decided to eat at Milners Gate. Our waitress, Amanda, was super friendly and personable. She was very attentive, but not overbearing. She added special little touches, like she heard me ask if the girlfriend wanted some of my salad, so Amanda brought an extra plate in case she wanted to share. The food was amazing. I've had a rash of bad steaks recently at restaurants, so I was hesitant to get one. But it was a special occasion, so I got a ribeye. Perfectly medium rare, and the seasoning was great. The beef itself was great. The mashed potatoes were probably the best I've ever had. The girlfriend's Cajun shellfish pasta was so delicious too. Scallops are so hard to cook right, and they were perfect. Be sure to get over to Milners Gate! It was worth every penny read more
