To be honest, we visited twice in one day, for coffee and wine during the day, and then for night cap or two later at night. Had great service both times, awesome friendly staff, live music during the night, and surprisingly good and diverse wine list. Yea, we haven't tried chocolate, and it did look good too, by the way, but the wine, service, and atmosphere were all so nice, that we could do without chocolate!

And I noticed this was next-door so while I was waiting to get my test done, I looked on their website and it said butter brickle ice cream. So naturally, I had to go in. The place was clean and cool, especially considering how hot it was today. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the butter brickle ice cream, was if you're old enough to remember, like the old blue bunny ice cream back in the day. To save myself, future headaches, I only bought two scoops and I did not take any home for my freezer, but I was very tempted to do so. I also bought a double scoop for the gentleman who did my tests next-door. I bought two scoops and I took a lid with me, but it did not last the 45 minute ride home. In short, it was great ice cream and it tasted just like the old recipe did back in the day. Five out of five, would recommend, will return

Disappointing. Such a shame I was so excited to have Happy Joes again…read more I'm an area native and hadn't had Happy Joe's pizza in awhile. As in decades. There are no Happy Joes where I moved to after putting myself through school. I was super excited to order to go,, while back visiting the area and retirement house shopping. Phoned in order. Arrived at restaurant. They had made the order wrong (had put meat on a vegetarian pizza despite my double checking with the teenage girl on the phone I placed the order with "you understood no beef or sausage no meat at all".) No biggie. Things happen. No big deal. Paid for the pizza and had a seat and cheerfully occupied myself on my phone while they immediately remade the pizza (no apology, no offer of water, nothing) 20 minutes later the correct pizza was completed on the remake. Was handed the pizza by a teenage girl who thanked me and left. Then I walked to my car. As I was closing the car door a different teenage girl (thin, petite, brunette with glasses) ran up to my car shouting "excuse me was that pizza paid for" (her coworker had clearly handed me the pizza) This was too much. Getting a simple order wrong, having to wait for a remake, no apology, then a 16 year old running up to my car and basically accusing me of not paying for a silly pizza. I smiled sweetly and said "yes I had plenty of time to pay for a thirty dollar pizza since they got the order wrong the first time and had to remake it" She then said "oh" (no apology for the bizarre implication I hadn't paid for the pizza.) Very weird and bizarre situation. Very disappointing and although I'll be retiring back to the area, and Happy Joe's was a staple of my childhood, I won't be back.

I knew I had to try it on a recent visit back home. My experience was mixed. The excellent: our table service was next level with each dish being thoroughly explained. We were educated on the thought process behind each wine pairing as well. Between each course our table was cleaned and we were presented with fresh silverware. The great: the food was presented beautifully and our meal looked incredibly impressive. The interior definitely invoked the Brooklyn vibes that inspired the restaurant in the first place. It feels very upscale hipster. The disappointing: though the overall experience was tasty and texturally perfect, each dish we tried had some overpowering element and flavors were not balanced. After the tuna crudo all I could taste was celery, after the morel mushroom pasta all I could taste were the pungent chive blossoms, and the trout skin/asparagus were over-grilled and I felt like I was eating a well prepared charcoal briquette. Maybe I'll give this place another try next time I'm in town and hope the flavors make as much sense as the rest of the experience.
