Incompetent mechanic. Didn't believe me when I told him the issue. Gave me attitude like he's a…read moresuper genius and suggested it was some other issue that didnt make sense. Anyway, i threw him a bone and said, "but hey Im not a mechanic". They took my vehicle to inspect the ABS and put on new tires. Fiured id get a call about what they rhink the ABS problem is. My wife got a text saying my vehicle is done. Ok, odd... that's not the number I gave you. Anyway, great, it mustve been an easy fix because it was so fast. I get there and they say the mechanic took it for a drive and the ABS didnt engage except when it was supposed to. Theres some snow on the roads but plenty of dry road that this guy obviously didn't test it on. Before even leaving the parking lot my ABS engages just like I said it was. Three times. Everytime i hit the brakes between 8 and 15 km/hr. So i go back in and ask to rebook the vehicle in. The guy who did it is on lunch so we cant go for a ride together. Fine. Well the person ive been talking to at the desk tells me this mechanic suspects its the problem which I mentioned earlier in the story and they cant fix that. So was there an issue or not? Why didn't I get a call? I guarantee the issue he wanted it to be, isn't the issue. Just didn't fit the symptoms. Overall, it was a waste of time. They installed the tires at a good price because they were honoring a warranty. Go there for your tires.

I took my car in to have my tires rotated, which should have been free since I purchased my tires…read moreat Kal Tire North Lethbridge. I was charged for the rotation, which i didn't question when I picked up my car, because I had forgotten it was supposed to be free. It wasn't until I filed my receipt that I saw on my original bill of purchase that rotations were free when tires were purchased at Kal Tire. One tire was also "bouncy" so I checked the tire pressure. One tire was under-inflated but the others were fine, so I added air to it and it fixed the problem. Also noticed that I was missing one hubcap. While I was pretty certain it was on my car when I picked it up, I hadn't done a walk around (in the dark) so wasn't sure if it had been put back on. I called the location about the charge for the rotation and the missing hubcap. I asked if tire rotations were still included with the purchase of tire and when given an affirmative answer, I told Jamie that I had purchased my tires there but had been charged for the rotation. He asked me several times if I purchased my tires there before he realized that I had. He told me that it was a mistake and I could get a refund. I asked about my hubcap, in case it had been left there. After a few minutes of checking, I was told that my hubcap wasn't there. No offer of anything nor an apology for any of the issues. I went in two days later to get my refund. Afterwards, I asked Jamie what could be done about my missing hubcap. All I was told was that it wasn't there and that the bays get cleaned out each night. No offers of a solution, or anything. A while later, when washing my vehicle, I noticed that there wasn't a single lug nut cover on the tire with the missing hubcap, so either the hubcap wasn't put back on or it was put on improperly, without the lug nut covers, so no wonder it didn't stay on. At this point, I wrote to Customer Service at Kal Tire head office, who wrote back and let me know they were contacting the branch I dealt with to get the situation resolved. I did receive a phone call from Jamie, (he also called himself James) and was told that I would be receiving a replacement hubcap, free of charge, and that it would also be installed for free. He confirmed the car I drove and told me that I would be called when it came it in order to get this fixed. That was on Dec 8. Not a single word from Kal Tire since then. I called back and spoke with Jamie on Jan 31. He didn't seem to recall about the hubcap and was checking on it. He told me that he needed to speak with his colleagues and that he would call me back on Feb 1. It is now Feb 8 and no phone call. I wrote back to Customer Service on Feb 3 and was told that this issue was being escalated to the Regional Manager, and that I would hear back as soon as possible. I am still waiting. Two months and no resolution in sight. The lack of communication is totally unacceptable as is not having my hubcap fixed in a timely manner.

Thanks to Big Al's for bringing honest and trustworthy mechanics to the province. There has been a…read morelot of stress lately with several dealerships charging us for diagnostics, etc., but still having never-ending issues. I guess that's how dealerships work? I brought my XJ to them and thought the issue was the radiator fan, relay, or wiring because it's not spinning. I'm wondering how come Jaguar Calgary missed it during their inspection, since they had the vehicle for two weeks? Jayson and Damien did the impossible things that huge companies can't do. When I asked about my bill for the work done, I was shocked that it was reasonable and lower than what most dealerships normally charge me. Thanks to the owner of Big Al's for bringing us such an honest mechanic or auto repair shop. This will be our new shop for our vehicles from now on. We highly recommend Big Al's.

My car sat at that shop for 3 months after they damaged the Holley Sniper. I asked for the inline…read morefuel pump to be replaced and to redo the intake manifold because it leaked. I said put a 60psi inline pump on to replace the 60psi pump that was damaged. They put a 120psi pump on, which damaged the injectors by over pressuring the system. Then after that, a 100psi pump, because they didn't learn their lesson the first time. They claimed they had a mechanic that knew all about these TBI systems. He doesn't. At all. Anyway, they finally agreed to replace it. Three months later after much going back and forth, I finally got it back. Just a complete mess. The settings for the Sniper were largely incorrect. I was only getting fuel across the blades in 2 of 4 barrels. I returned the car and it sat for a week before I went back and got it, and they did nothing. I fixed that myself in 10 seconds. The fans, not connected to the Sniper, were set up in the settings as if they were. The IAC was not set up. The throttle/kickdown cables were loose as they didn't tighten the bracket. I fixed the issues myself in less than an hour. I still have more to check in the settings, as I'm sure I'm not done yet. They blew up the starter (which was new). They broke the sun visor off. They chipped and scratched the paint. They killed the battery (which was also new). And then to top it all off, their smooth brained secretary, Jason, loudly called me a crook in front of another customer and said I conned them into getting a new Sniper. This from a guy who told me the Holley was seeing my 350 as a 4 cylinder and that's why I wasn't getting fuel in all the barrels. They weren't supposed to touch the Sniper. If they had just put a 60psi pump on like I asked for, none of this would have happened. I spent $2500 in that shop, and I seriously regret it. This is not the full story, I could add to it. AVOID THIS BUSINESS. You have been warned.
