Ahhh, how times change after you become a parent. I was so delightfully touched by this place. THIS is yet another playground/park area within the Unley Council that screams "WE LOVE OUR COMMUNITY!" I really, really, REALLY want to give this a five star review but to tell you the truth I was so blown away by it that I didn't look for half of the 'extras' I normally try to find in a five star review. Let me run through some things with you; fully fenced, dog park (see times on photos), shade sails, entirely rubber floored, drinking fountain and snake fountain (I think this is for the four legged members of the family...check out photos), equipment for varying age groups and abilities, table/chairs. The playground itself is a little dated but this is such a wonderful set up the dull grey doesn't even matter (to me anyway). I'm coming back here to check it out further and I'll bring my daughter with me so I have an excuse to swing and slide and climb. *Dogs allowed* *Drinking fountain* *Shade sails*

I was completely shocked and excited when I saw this place. The playground has been well thought out to provide different activities for different age groups. It's NEW equipment! I wish it was rubber floored rather than bark chipped but hey, you can't have it all. There are toilets, a BBQ, table/chair areas under the shade of trees, a drinking fountain AND the playground itself is fully fenced. For such a small space, the City of Unley really has done a great job in providing a wonderful space for the community. You can tell by the number of photos how excited I was hehehehe. That's the defining characteristic of the park. Of course, it has all the other necessary features of a park: shade, tape, barbecue, toilets and playground. It's a great local park, and one I've had the opportunity to visit often 'cause I regularly house-sit for a family that lives just around the corner. If you live in Everard, turn the television off and check out the local scenery. It'll be good for you.

Old (out of date) reviews & pictures of the park mention the space is a little rundown, however this has all changed! The playground is only around 12 months old and is small but AWESOME! There are two trampolines built into the squishy soft-fall ground, along with a super-fun multi-person swing and a great rope climbing-frame. The slide is definitely more suited at younger children, but I come here with the 3-12 year-olds I work with and they all tend to find something to keep them entertained. In addition, the outdoor gym equipment has all been replaced in the last few months. I haven't used it, but it is all very new and looks like it offers more resistance and more of a work-out than the old stuff. As for the 'skate park', it's not huge, but should keep local teens (and the fully grown blokes I see on it often) entertained. Finally, older reviews also stated there was little shade. Again, this has changed. The shade is plentiful and is a mix of trees and sails/shade cloth. There are also two barbecues, one which is completely shaded. If you live in the area I highly recommend you check out this little beauty.

There's a playground, skate park, basketball court, outdoor swimming centre, kiosk and a small selection of exercise machines. Needless to say the park accommodates a wide range of users. At the risk of sounding like a meathead (I'm not!) the exercise equipment is so easy it could only be useful for the elderly and frail. And it's located right beside the skate park... a slightly humorous combination! The bathroom, built into the swimming centre, is accessible from the outside. It's OK in an emergency. Dogs are permitted to run free, but only between 5pm and 10am. The setting is natural and full of native veg, but lacks shade. Depending on the season there will either be a lovely creek or a ditch running through the middle of the park. .

The Westside Bikeway is a 'rail trail' following an historic train line almost from the city to…read morealmost Glenelg. Power lines also follow this corridor. There are two main problems with the Westside bikeway. One, it starts and finishes slightly in the middle of nowhere. Two, it's not scenic. But the Westside Bikeway is part of a beautiful 30km bike circuit called the 'River and Coast Ride' composed almost entirely of dedicated bike path. Notice that it's the part of the trail not mentioned in the title... i.e. the 'loop closer.' Interested? Grab a map from BikeSA or at the tourist info booth in Rundle Mall. But here are the rough directions: Follow the Torrens Linear Park trail from the city to the ocean. Head south along the Coast Park Bikeway until you reach the mouth of the Glenelg River. From here ride a short distance along the roads to the start of the Westside Bikeway at Morphett Road and Anzac highway. Follow this bikeway to its completion at South and James Congdon Roads. Here you're only a short road ride away from the city and your starting point. If the Torrens Linear Park trail were a 7 (out of 10) in scenic terms, this would be a 3. BUT... it's still well superior to riding on the roads. On a sunny day make sure to sunscreen those upper thighs; shade is scarce along this track.

While the well-weathered sign is on Bice Street, the playground is behind the tennis courts (not open for public use, only for members). I'm not sure about parking, but try coming at it from Anstey Crescent instead. The drinking fountain doesn't work, there isn't any shade (except for the shade (?) built into the playground equipment) and it could definitely use a refill of the bark chips. I hope children have fun here despite what adults (ME!) think of the place. I'm sure it provides an amusing interlude for children while others are playing tennis but it does kind of feel forgotten, at the back of the bright blue courts. *No dogs allowed* *Drinking fountain doesn't work*
